    that turned out great! as for the respirator, he is using cartridges rated for organic vapor so he doesn't breathe in the solvent

    Love this, I bought a condo with stairs painted blue and it’s chipping/uneven so I want to remove the paint and then stain the wood

      Removing the paint will be the trickiest / most annoying part of that process. Good luck with your stairs!

    What brand that I can buy at SW for that compares to this brand for the black stain? Or is this stain that good and worth ordering?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  Před dnem

      SW carries minwax. I’ve used it quite a bit and it works fine. It’s a bit more difficult to work with than ZAR but it still works.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers

      Yes indeed. I’ve been quite surprised by it. Maybe it wouldn’t work in every situation, but I haven’t had any issues with it so far.

    HI! This was so helpful to watch! I have a question though, is there a reason why you're filling holes AFTER you stain and paint? Should I do this as well or does it not matter if I fill holes first and then do stains/paint? Thanks :)

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  Před 9 dny +1

      I fill holes after I apply the stain and the first coat of poly. The reason being is that often if you apply the tinted wood fillers prior to the first coat of poly then the wood filler smudges around and it looks blotchy after you apply the subsequent coats of polyurethane.

    What type of wood is that? Oak?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  Před 14 dny

      I believe they were oak. I'm not positive because I didn't do the install, I just did the finish work.
