    I bought a manual BK2 and had second gear lock out. I purchased and installed the megan racing trans mount and it fixed the lock out. The problem is the stock trans mount cant hold any power you can literally flex it with your hands. So under power everything becomes miss aligned causing the lock out. 90 bucks and maybe 45 mins easy to do yourself.

    • @jozuna2051
      @jozuna2051 Před 3 lety +8

    • @josevaladez100
      @josevaladez100 Před 3 lety +7

      Not true the mount itself won't fix it completely. It'll still lock you out at high rpms. To truly eliminated u need engine leash Megan mount and the solid bushing kit from ATQ. Running these on my bk2 ultimate. Shifts flawlessly

    • @danielvaughn1061
      @danielvaughn1061 Před 3 lety +6

      @@josevaladez100 you could be right. I dont run my car very hard yet, so at top end rpms it could still have lock out. But just getting the trans mount made it more drivable for day to day. I was getting locked out at even 4000-5000 rpm before the tran mount swap just casually driving around. I wont push my car until I get my ATQ kit. and will probably swap out the motor mounts. I dont think a leash will be necessary at that point but hey ive been wrong before so if i am ill get one.

      @@danielthomas4533 beautiful. But I will say one thing, if it is available for you to get then before you purchase it.. check the trunk for water damage. The genesis is notorious for water leaking into the trunk around the tail lights area. Pull out the trunk liner and check bellow the spare tire.
      Also look under the car up into the rear bumper area and check the sheet metal.
      If there’s any sign of water damage/rust you can probably talk them down a bit more.

    For me, no. Front brakes blew up at 60k miles. Never been driven hard. Cost me a small fortune to fix. Sold her for a 2006 wrx, even more unreliable 😎

    To measure for hub rings you need a digital caliper. The stock hub on genesis coupes is 67.1mm. You need to measure the bore of the wheel. I order 3 sets unsuccessfully before measuring, save yourself time and money and measure it.

    • @h.o.f.schoolthreat5816
      @h.o.f.schoolthreat5816 Před 3 lety +1

      When you bought the wheels from fitment industries they should have put the wheel bore size in the order statement. Any good wheel company does. Go back to your order statement and see if you can find it.

    After searching for an entire summer I found the perfect genesis coupe with 80,000 miles on it, clean record and 1 owner. It was for sale at some dealership in Virginia. I flew out to Virginia (from Minneapolis) and when I got to the car, I was told the car had been in a collision and been rebuilt. I test drove it and the engine didn’t feel like it was properly secured, and it shook the entire car whenever it was on, I did not think it would make the 1000mile drive home so I told the guy I wasn’t interested and we left. We were then stuck in Virginia but luckily there was another 2012 bk1 just a mile away so we got an Uber and checked it out. This one felt a lot smoother but had 120000 miles on it which was a little more than I would have liked. He wanted 11,000$ for it and we got him down to 8500$ and it made the drive home. Overall I love the car but it has had 2 expensive repairs in the 5 months I have owned it.

    I own this car too it’s most likely the noise is from the timing chain they tend to tick a lot it’s not bad but it usually happens and wheel shake does tend to happen mostly at 60 mph it can’t be from tread wear or unbalanced wheels a good alignment fixes a lot and then hub centric rings will help .

    For looks, fins dont matter where they go. The fins are supposed to stick out in the flow of air to be functional. Personal opinion: the more perfomance things you add to your car that arent going to be used as intended, the uglier it looks.

    • @GenesisCoupeHUB

      I talked a bit about it in the video but I pay about $150 a month for insurance, however this wasn't my first car so since it would be yours id say ittle be a bit more for sure, compared to a 4 door id say maybe $100ish a month more but im not certain. Itd make an awesome first car bro if you get one let me know!
