Higher and Higher - Rita Coolidge 1977

This version of "Higher and Higher" by American recording artist Rita Coolidge in 1977 is a remake of Jackie Wilson's original 1967 hit single. Although Coolidge's release is a more mid-tempo recording, it became her first major hit in nine years of recording peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, and #1 on the Cash Box chart. Coolidge's greatest success on the pop charts came during 1977-1978 with four consecutive top 25 hits. During the 1970's and 1980's, her songs were on Billboard magazine's pop, country, adult contemporary, and jazz charts. She won two Grammy Awards with fellow musician and then-husband Kris Kristofferson. Coolidge sang the theme song "All Time High" for the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy.
