I only relatively recently discovered Gail Ann, to my regret, watching the Bowie Heathen tour concert in Berlin on YT. Her bass playing and singing was and is very special. I thought David had a thing for her. Now I know, and why wouldn't he? I know I'm not supposed to say such things these days, but she is gorgeous and very talented!

The beautiful Gail Ann and how wonderful it is that a fiercely sexy and powerful woman like that can be friends with and play alongside a musician as talented and huge as David Bowie, the fact he could let her be herself and not be intimidated and both of them be so affectionate WITHOUT ANYONE EVER questioning his commitment to Iman says a LOT about this wonderful man. A LOT. Just something so beautiful and innocent about their relationship, we need more positive relationships like this in the media. xx

Absolutely. Yet another of the ways in which Bowie was such a beautiful human being. Totally faithful to Iman, and she would (presumably) never have felt troubled by his relationship with Gail Ann. But at the same time, you only have to watch any video of Bowie and Gail Ann onstage to see how much they were obviously 'in love'. There's a heartbreaking interview where she talks about them being in semi-regular contact between tours, and he would always email at Christmas. So when he didn't email at Christmas 2015 she thought 'hmm...I wonder if he's OK' [sad face].

Being a music lover id heard Gail before she joined Bowie always a very talented musician great voice and great guitarist Bowie always had a close relationship with his inner circle of musicians they were also loyal to him as he was to them he always had a sweet spot for Gail

I recently ran across the 1995 outside tour live version of Bowie doing hero's with gail on bass and proceed to go down the rabbit hole.
She is one of the smoothest and fluid bass players ever, and they compliment each other well.

"Sometime back in 1989, David Bowie was flipping through the channels in England when he came across an interview with Gail Ann Dorsey promoting her debut album, The Corporate World. “Years later, he told me he thought to himself, ‘Wow, this woman is really interesting,'” says Dorsey. “‘When I’m doing the right project, I would love to work with her.'”
It took six years, but when Bowie was putting together a band to go on tour with Nine Inch Nails, he phoned up Dorsey to see if she’d be willing to serve as his bassist. “I was kind of in shock that it was actually him on the phone,” she says. “At first, I thought it was somebody playing a prank on me. When I realized it wasn’t, I said to him, ‘I’m in the middle of making a record; let me speak to my producer and get back to you.’ We’d just started the record and we’d spent all this time and money, but he said, ‘But that’s David Bowie. You have to go.'”"

About four years ago, while sitting in chairs on the grass for a local outdoor concert series to see the wonderful Susan Werner, who used to live on my street here in Ardmore, PA, a person who looked an awful lot like Gail Ann Dorsey was seated to my right about eight chairs away. I was blown away when Susan pointed Gail out and introduced her. She came up later on to play a few songs of her own, despite having just lost her father that day or the day before. Turns out Gail is from here as well, four miles west in Radnor. How I could be such a Bowie fan and never have known this...no explanation.

He had known of Gail before he met Iman, so if he had any interest in her he would have pursued her ~ but he would have also known she was bisexual, and in a relationship with a beautiful woman. I don't think anyone doubts they felt love for each other; but love doesn't always mean sex, to adults ~ deep respect and adoration for someone you admire and care for is a beautiful thing. Bowie was always a tease.
It doesn't matter, though. Their private lives were just that ~ private. They made such amazing music together the intoxication of that alone would cause a spark.
