It's actually a very common occurence that serial murderers are under the influence when committing their crimes. It's not that the drugs MAKE them do it, they just make it easier for *them* to do it. It's another piece of the puzzle as to what led to what happened, basically.

One reads about an abused child being ‘rescued’ by CYS, only to land in a foster home, or be given back to abusive parents then killed. It almost seems as if these children were doomed at birth to live short lives. It is, indeed, a very strange phenomenon.

I used to have a boyfriend that smoked so much weed he couldn't pay his bills. This had been a problem for him for years. He'd smoke about 4 or 5 blunts a day and it cost about $80 more or less a day smoking a gram of the good kind per blunt. This was too expensive for his income (as I assume it would be for most of us). He wouldn't pay our rent on time or utilities, he wouldn't pay his child support, or even go to the doctor etc in lieu of buying his daily dose of weed. Whenever he didn't have any he would be very mean and impatient to me and say he had cold sweats and couldn't sleep good said he could hold still and felt restless. These are common withdrawal symptoms. He WAS 100% heavily addicted to marijuana. I thought at that time in my life that it was impossible to become addicted to marijuana due to the fact that it is so safe. But so is food, but that doesnt stop My 600 Pound Life from having a endless amount of characters dying from eating too much. He wasn't a serial killer tho(!) but he definitely used weed as a crutch for some underlying issues he had. I agree with the man that mentioned it. I'm for legalization and all that. I'm just saying I know that weed is not exempt from being a substance people abuse.

Everybody in the comments is mad because she linked weed to this case. But what people need to understand is weed isn’t for everybody. I, for instance, can’t handle my weed for shit. I get super paranoid when I smoke no matter who I’m with, whether the environment is chill or not, and even if I’m having a good day. My paranoia isn’t the typical “oh no I’m going to get caught” it’s like every single demon and trauma that I have pushed down gets released or amplified and I quite literally feel like I’m going crazy. Therefore, I simply don’t smoke or do edibles or anything. I do partake in CBD which is amazing by the way because I don’t get a psych high but I still end up feeling relaxed. Anyways, In conclusion, I don’t think she’s fully trying to demonize weed but rather, bring to light that maybe this man with tons of issues shouldn’t have been partaking in ANY drugs because it quite literally probably wasn’t meant for him

It costs you guys even more to have them on death row due to rightful appeals.
Just stop mandating the killing of prisoners altogether. It's not a power a civilized government should have, but no surprise there given the lack of civility the US government seems to show to non prisoners I suppose..
The risk of 1 innocent life is not worth even 1000 families feeling the "relief" of having revenge. Rotting in jail is punishment enough. Half the freaks in there are there for crimes against women and children... and where they are now, those things they liked the most aren't around them. Let them live in filth and violence for the rest of their lives, often it's a punishment worse than death for those who have to think about how they landed themselves there. Because at least despite being horrible people a lot of them regret what they did every day, even if not just the selfish part of it. At least when you're still alive you can continue fighting for your defense and possibly freedom if you know you didn't do something though, but we ultimately take that chance away from people when we condemn them to death.
And we all know innocent people have indeed been put to death in the US. Can you guys honestly say those innocent lives were worth killing the amount of truly guilty over just keeping them in prison? I don't think so personally. The feeling of helplessness marching to your death as an innocent man would be like nothing you could imagine. No innocent human should have to go through that feeling.

Whether his plan was stopped due to this road block or he was so mad and didn’t want to hurt his cousin, we cant know, either way Im glad my mother couldn’t go with him that day. About a year later he was staying at my aunts dad his uncles and then when he decided to leave due arguments with his uncle he murdered him there was no forced entry to the home and he locked the door behind him he was the only other person with a key it was never proven but to many coincidences to not be him.

Their friend had an allergic reaction to the pot they smoked and this kid was 15, they left him laying in the grass by the street and bailed on him. We kept him awake, drove him to the ER, stayed for questions and spoke to the parents. Everyone is different and when you’re young on weed your brain is developing until 25. Maybe it’s time to up the buying age of this new age weed to 25. Same with alcohol. Everyone loves their ‘science’ so much until it halts their fun times.

This is why we have to "listen to our gut" because in the end we rather be safe than sorry! This very thing happened to me in 2001! I was four months pregnant with my son at the time! I had just gotten out of the "shower" so I was still wet with a towel wrapped around my body! Then that's when I got a knock at the door... 🚪 without opening the door I asked who it was... the man on the other side of the door told me his name was: "Anderson!" He was my "boyfriend's friend" but he almost always made me feel uncomfortable around him... so because I had just got out the shower and my boyfriend wasn't home I decided to not open the door! So instead he moved on down the hall to my neighbor's door!!! Later on that night I found out she was raped and murdered! I won't give any "brutal details" because she was definitely tortured!!! Sad to say I didn't hear a word not a peep! And that haunts me to this very day! I thank God he got life in prison but he went on to killed a few other women!!! 😲😰 "My gut told me to not open the door" and that (quick decision) saved my life! 🙌😇👼🙏

How many of us didn’t forever live with or next door to our parents ?-
How many of us had to be alone on our own as adults ?
Many or most of us I’d say to all of those -
And how many of us “had to” go murder people ??:
    Not friggin many!
    …Oh I almost forgot :
Did we have a sibling who was abducted and abused but returned to our family? -

Now if that in fact happened and he experienced something traumatic he was a victim of those around him but that still doesn't excuse or justify his actions. The parents were equally at fault. Sexual abuse was actually rampant in the family and Cary was victimized by his uncle, whom all the adults in the family knew was a predator. His father was accused of sexually abusing the daughters. The mother had been sexually abused by her father but still allowed him to be around their children. Steven's parents, by their own admission, mistreated their other children while he was missing.

Is there any proof re: Carey's accusations of abuse? Was he really treated poorly by his parents? Even if he was...NOT an excuse to murder. Lots of people have shitty childhoods & don't become murderers. Blaming your warped life on others or Bad circumstances is a copout. No one had a perfect childhood. No one.

This crime got covered elsewhere but more in the point of view of the victims. While it didn't cover Cary's background, it also didn't have the off analyses this one had. However, it did bring up details the other didn't cover. Mixed feelings about how this was covered over all.

It's absolutely both. It's a form of self harm and a poor way of dealing with negative or uncomfortable feelings. Or some feel relief right after doing it so it's a poor way of self soothing however it causes harm to the person in the long run. Having bald patches to hide is stressful.

@@trishpipkins I agree with you. I have seen people who deal with it. However, I also had a friend who did it for attention. She read about it in a magazine and then started doing it because she was attention starved. I’m not sure why I am telling you this, but it feels good to talk about it. My friend needed serious help for whatever her issue was, but she is one of the people who make others believe that mental illness is a joke or something people just want attention for. She definitely has some sort of “mental illness”, but I don’t know what it would be classified as. She would purposely binge and purge so she could say she was bulimic. Starve herself so she could say she was anorexic. It goes on and on. The last straw for me was when she spent a year seeing doctors hoping to find something physically wrong in her brain and when they didn’t, she said that she wished they would find cancer so that people would believe her.
