This is definitely one of the best TCR videos that I have had the pleasure to watch. Not many dry eyes in the audience. Manuel & Frank Barroso are humble, loving, hard-working people and they are the epitome of " The salt of the earth folks". I loved when Manuel said when he spoke from the heart saying " God does not care about the size of your wallet, He cares about the size of your heart". Port Isabel is blessed to have the fine Barroso family as citizens.
I do wish the restaurant was still around.
God bless you sir. God doesn't care about the size of your wallet he cares about the size of your heart.
AMEN
And the size of your tortilla.
And the size of your tortilla....
@@stusatwork30 💯🙌🙌
Sad to see that they closed last April. Such a nice family doing their thing. Thank you Barroso family....
Martin - why did they close?
@@z-z-z-z I'm a Port Isabel native. From what I understand of the situation, the father (Manuel) decided to retire. Frank was set to take over the restaurant, but because of the pandemic, they didn't have enough $$$ to re-open and were forced to remain closed. Frank does still sell his salsa, though. And I highly recommend people buy as much as they can. The reason why I say that? Read on....
I was in Port Isabel just a few days ago (9/28-10/1), and heard rumblings of a possible re-opening, but nothing "for sure" just yet. I'm guessing Frank is accumulating the $$$ from his salsa sales in order to be able to afford a proper re-opening the restaurant. As for "when" that happens? I don't know. But I think it's coming.
The best reporting team on CZcams. Wonderful stories about special people - filled with love. Can’t get any better than that!
This has to be the most touching story I've ever watched on Texas reporter
Texas County Reporter…Heartfelt, and occasionally misty eyed
Texas Daytripper…Grins and giggles and a dose of Texas history
Texas Bucket List…Food
Spot on, friend.
i like the channel but they should show more food and do less talking
@@robinsss The sob stories, and the "My Father died doing this" vids always get more views. Other CZcams channels for great food! (Minus emotion)
@@robinsss It's ALL about Bob. REAL narcissist......
Thank you for highlighting this business, but most of all, for letting him speak and for listening. Too often, reporters are already formulating their next question and don't open their ears and hearts to listen. I was in tears watching this lovely video. Thank you.
Every weekend back in the 90's was Texas Country Reporter and the weekend outdoor tv shows the generations today have no idea what they are missing TCR is the best and always will be. From one Texan to another God Bless Y'all!
Really awesome salt of the earth family. God bless them and they deserve everything they have. Also really love the Deftones hat!
there's been some times when those first few notes on that piano would bring a few tears , thanks , I've enjoyed them all
Wow! Great Story.God Bless you Manuel & Frank for you great service provided to the Rio Grande Valley!
Manuel's used to be on the island. I lived there for three years. Many a hangover was cured with a con todo. Sad it's gone.
They seem like wonderful people. I wish them the best ❤
Coming from a fellow Texan god bless you everything's gonna be alright sir much love to you from san antonio tx
Just to update, the restaurant has closed down. Was a great place and environment.
I hope the family recovers from this sad that they closed down.
That is so sad.
Oh wow that's a bummer 🥺
Man, what a sweet Family.. I wish them the best.. Talk about having good Hearts... Great video!
Even in the face of mortality this man looks up!
God bless this wonderful wonderful family.
One of the best videos you all have done! ❤
LOOKED SOOO GOOD…..WHAT AN AMAZING FAMILY AND RESTAURANT.
I WISH I LIVED CLOSE TO THEM.
CLOSED
ABSOLUTELY LOVE you guys... BLESS Y'ALL ALL! 😍🤗
So, as always this Canadian, a loyal subscriber enjoyed this video and wished I lived there instead of 450 miles north of the border.
If it's closed now, can I support the family and buy some hot sauce?
If so please let me know.
¡Dios bendiga y viva a Manuel Barroso y su familia!
Stay strong live long and pray
I understand I'm going through health issue again I know I will be healed. When your sick it's no joke during this pandemic. GOD will heal me!
God Bless you and your family and bless your business always ✝️🕊🙏🏼❤️
just wonderful !!
Great story makes my heart warm!
God bless Manuel.
I wil definately visit this place soon!! 😃 God bless you Manuel!
Wait, giant tortillas, and the french toast at the very end? Long drive, but if I’m ever there, I’m going.
No you aren't. Manuel's closed over a year ago.
What a man so nice and humble the way God wants us all to be
Permanently closed. Another Texas icon gone forever. Great video...
I like when he said god doesn’t care how big ur wallet is only ur heart
Truth is.. he is rich. Rich in the things that matter. God bless you sir. What an incredible story.
VERY sad to know it closed, because that would have been a special place to visit and eat at. :(
This was a good story my friends !! But sad there is to much pain in the world , so even though this was an AWESOME video I also really like the happy ones. Thank you Frank from montana......
I love supporting small family business!
Those flour tortillas with all the stuff folded in sure look delicious. Probably worth driving from Arlington, TX just to try. Add a fishing trip and it’s surely worth it👍👍
Pick me up on the way, I'm in GP lol
That kind of reaction to a question shows that his father was a real DAD.
My family and I came here for years and we’re so heartbroken that they closed. I wish they’d open back up. There’s nothing else like it.
How did they close?
jesus ,,,,not sure i ever had such wet eyes watching these shows ......what a great place and ppl .....wish i was n el paso tx and not el paso illinois .....id be headed that way for some grub
GOD BLESS 👪 FAMILIA, FOREVER..
Me and the family are coming down to South Padre this summer I think we'll take a detour since my daughter is addicted hot sauce
God bless yall!!
Visited there in 2015 sad to say I didn't see that place 😕 but what really hit my heart is how he gave his mother the love she gave him in helping make that place together...folks its all about family and God and the rest will take care of itself. God bles us all!!
Manuels in Del Rio has to have the best fajitas and ranch beans I've ever had.
I love eating at the bar.
The employees are awesome.
Places like this will soon all be gone it is so sad that all we’re going to have left is McDonald’s Our grandchildren will never know what good food is. ☹️
Yep, it's permanently closed.
@@opendstudio7141 Must have not been that good......
@@opendstudio7141 That's a shame. I thought the son was going to take over and sell hot sauce to make it work. Sounds like another example of the kids not having the same passion and drive as their parents. Just the desire for the $$$.
@@opendstudio7141 The owner, Manuel is alive and well. He just decided to retire. The pandemic really kicked their butts
Mucho gusto - hermano
I believe in the Lord and Good ol Mom and Pop dinners and shops!💯❤️🥰
Ok I’m hungry 🤤 reminds me of my mom she knew how to make flower tortillas. 🧢 hats off to everyone there. 2022
Sad to see this place close down. I really wanted to try it.
Food looks Fantastic 👌 😋
This is missed up. It's making me so hungry. 😆
@@ricardocarmona5210 your right about that! Between TCR and Texas Bucket List, my phone gets nervous, cause it thinks I am going to take a bite out of it. 🤣
Food looks delicious 😋 need me a BIG TACO 🌮😋 right now 💯🌮👊😋
Do they still sale hot sauce if so how can I order some
Échale ganas Manuel y se a valiente.
I looked up this restraunt on google and it’s says permanently closed is this correct?
Amen
May God help them succeed with the salsa business.Thank you Jesus. Sweet family
I just read that this place closed on Easter Sunday due to Manuel’s health. Very sad, I would have loved to enjoy their Tex Mex
You need to try Angie's tacos in San Antonio Texas on Pleasanton road
Nice Deftones cap.
Hang in there.
Wow! Look at the size of that taco! Too bad it’s not there anymore, I would’ve made a special trip to eat there and buy more for takeout.
Keep your head up Manuel , la santa Muerte 💀 is always there ready to dance with us .
Just a heads up Manuel is still making tacos! I am a local and he is at one of the condominiums and the tacos taste the exact same! And no he is not dead.
Bro link to buy the salsa!!!
This place closed down permanently last April, it didn't survive the Pandemic 😢
Sad very sad
Oh no! Just seeing this today as it was recently posted and thinking I'm ready to drive from Houston to get some of those awesome looking tortillas and leave with a case of salsa!
Great job. Great food. I wish they used olive oil.
Looks like they closed after 38 years. You can confirm on FB
His health was failing so he decided to retire. Looks like he wrote a book
It's gone not there after many many years 😭
THANK GOD FOR MEXICAN FOOD
❤
Agradable trabajo.
I'm so sorry to find out that this place closed it's doors for good...so sad
❤️❤️❤️🥰
I'm his grandson.
Love this restaurant and their story.
Can we get a bigger bowl please..
I guess Manuel's is closed down I just saw your video I was going to call and have them send me some of their salsa but I'm too late that's my fault I guess.
Do other states have their own Country reporter or are we unique?
I would assume that most states have something similar, I believe that Tennessee has something like TCR.
TN and Virginia have similar shows but TCR is the classic if im not mistaken.
Go to MD ANDERSON MEDICAL CENTER in houston!
👍👍💪💪🙏
I'm praying for you..
This place is permanently closed. 😭😭😭😭😭
NEED A INK TO BUY THERE HOT SAUCE PLEASE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are closed. So sad.
Shout out to my mans Deftones hat! white pony!
Bad Ass Deftones hat White Pony
they closed
Cool.
The nose hair being part of the stash kills it...
Deftones!!
Ahmein Brothers and Sisters... mmmm mmm homemade good... the best tasting tortillas are made with lard. I no longer partake of the pig. for the bible tells me so.
in the real world and anywhere away from Texas we call that salsa. And there are no secret in making flour tortillas. Flour, oil, (or lard) hot water, royal, salt.
He said hot sauce 🤣🤔it’s salsa sir !
Never made any money -
I wish I could try his food, unfortunately I would Never consider going to Texas.
Why is the tortilla considered Humble ? That is a bit pretentious and condescending
They lost me at tex-mex. 🙄
When will the mask madness end ?
