These guys are bringing back the good old days of RPG`s. I thought id never see a good tactics game in my life. And octopath traveler was a masterpiece.
Fire emblem? There are DEFINITELY still games being made. Also look into divinity original sin, it isn’t billed as one but it definitely is a tactical game.
@@morriganrenfield8240 You have to admit they are a dying breed. We have FE that almost died and only barely stayed afloat, XCOM, Mario+Rabbids and DOS. I'm sure there's plenty of indie games but only having 4 (now maybe 5) heavy hitters is not great for a game style.
@@Okami_HD no, they aren’t a dying breed. Just because AAA isn’t running out the door to make a certain genre doesn’t mean anything. Also fire emblem is doing better than they ever have at this point.
@@morriganrenfield8240 It means quite a lot to be honest. Compare tactical games to other big genres and you can see the difference. Perhaps a dying breed is a poor of a way to put it, my apologies. But not running out the door is a fairly weak representation as well. Only 4 franchises of a genre is bad no matter how you slice it. The thing I fear is many of these game's achieve lower sales than others. Whilst FE is doing better than ever it still only sold 1 million units, which whilst amazing for a normal game, for one of the biggest games in the genre? Those numbers are concerningly low. I doubt they will every completely die out thankfully. But I won't be surprised if companies stop making the games if they notice they could make more money by creating New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe Edition HD Remaster featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry series with new Funky Mode.

Yeah I would love the character art with the dialogue boxes but as long as the VA's do a good job I'll be happy. I thought the voices from Octopath were good especially Olberic.

Possibly Fire Emblem as well next year considering the team has been working for 3 years now on the next game.
From this trailer it looks like you can lose party members based on your decisions. I’m curious to see what happens.
I would be devastated to invest in a character only for them to leave me later on in the game. I guess that’s part of the strategy on how you vote and what path your choices take you. This game looks to have a lot of replay ability to see the different outcomes. I’m excited for this game to arrive.
Hopefully they do a final demo like they did Octopath Traveler.
That would be really interesting. I would assume that your decisions will affect which characters can/will join your party, but I really like the idea that a divisive choice can break apart the party. It kinda forces a majority voting system in a game where the player makes the final call. That alone is quite the juxtaposition, and it fits the theme of convictions very well in my opinion.
I'm glad for replayability, but I hope the games a good bit longer than Octopath traveler. Perhaps the 3D, turn-based combat system will help add some hours.
If this is based on final fantasy tactics (which I really hope it is, Ivalice is amazing) then yeah permadeath will be a part of the game

@@aydengarcia9073 That was probably just to ensure the demo was beatable. It might even be an option for the main game since I know Fire Emblem has a mode for reviving units. I think some other srpgs might do the same. If they do have reviving characters I hope it's only plot crucial characters like Roland seems heavily in the plot, so him not being able to die makes sense, but if like Hughette revives that's kinda bs. Unless they are taken out of battles(gameplay) due to injury just so they can still do story events I can't justify reviving units.
The worst part of the trailer was when it told me that the game will only be out by March 2022. Other than that, this was stunning!!!

I'm hyped but my goodness this game will never live down its name.
Every time these trailers plaster the word "betrayal" over Benedict I become more and more worried. I really hope they don't try to pull a fast one on me, he's by far the protagonist I'm most interested in so far.
Also the Duke of Aesfrost looks like Dracula. I can already tell he's going to be a fun character to watch.
I'm pretty sure it will depend on choices. My guess is that, no matter what choices you make, SOMEONE will leave you. Who it is will depend on what you've decided previously.
Sounds like he’s named after the famous traitor, Benedict Arnold.
My guesses would be:
Roland leaves if you don't do enough to help his kingdom.
Benedict leaves if you keep making decisions that leave you at a tactical disadvantage.
Frederica leaves if you make too many cold, ruthless decisions.
@Marxrit If anything I think I was correct about Frederica, not the other two.

They are kinda protected thanks to Anna's invisibility and Hughette's big bird, which makes her out of reach even from archer's arrows (careful about those...) !

That being said, super excited for this game!
Their last game had a really bad name too, but they reveal the real name close to release. So i guess thats what will happen with this one too
It’s square Enix. Between “Final” Fantasy 13… 2, and Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 days, I’m almost convinced that weird names are a brand recognition thing at this point.
At EXACTLY 2:34 in this trailer, if you pause (and if you're a FFT fan), you'll notice they're reusing the same map as the one faught in Battle on the Bridge in Final Fantasy Tactics.
So, between Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy, this seems to be Square's "great game but terrible title" team
The devs just use their project code name and never actually bother with a real title.
Team "too busy cranking out quality gameplay to think about non-dumb names"
It’s like these are names for new IPs for the sake of a new name. Octopath should have been called Final Fantasy Stories and this should be called Final Fantasy Tactics
Too many expectations with the Final Fantasy name. Chocobos, Moogles, Summons, Ariships, Cid...all consistencies across FF titles. Also item names, spell names, status effects...
even final fantasy is a really bad name

The demo was wild with the twists your choices provoked, I hope they are as meaningful in the final game
I mean, the trailer shows that you can completely alienate your three top advisors in some way, so odds are PRETTY good that your choices will be meaningful.
What choices? Was there more than one battle in the demo? I don't remember anything but a battle on a bridge (preceded by wayyyyyyyy too much text/dialogue).
The demo had 4 battles depending on branching fates. Some of the paths (like surrendering) caught me VERY off guard; i don't think I've seen stories in those perspectives before.
And yes, TS is a dialogue heavy game, one of its strongest point even; if you just skip dialogue the battles are meaningless, held only by solid mechanics
If it's anything like TO, choices will definitely matter all the way to the end

Cant wait for this to come out. I've really been into fire emblem lately and have been looking for something similar
Looks absolutely fantastic, we dig it a lot!
This game looks really promising, especially if the choices offered actually leaf to major consequences in the story and gameplay.
The name is terrible though.
Could you have come up with a better name for the game at least?
SUPER hyped for this game, can't wait!
Demo was great. I’m excited to play this.
I love the art style and loved Octopath Traveller, but I'm just not interested in a tactical RPG. I'd much rather see an Octopath 2 style of game
They teased a sequel, so you may get your wish.
Hopefully that comes after this releases 🤞🏽.
They could have named it "The Salt Iron Chronicles" or something lore related. I am severely dissappointed in the name but super hyped for the game.
I'm sold on this game already. I just can't believe it's really being named Triangle Strategy.
Very excited for this loved the demo
