- In this video I do an rc car electronics installation on my 1984 Tamiya Grasshopper. We already swapped out the Vintage RC Car electronics for some more modern stuff. Who knew how easing installing rc car electronics would be; It took me about 1 hour to test everything!

Part 1 of the build here: czcams.com/video/JZWZIjTSaTg/video.html This project is almost finished!! Just need to clean up and maybe paint the body! New project underway as well stay tuned.
Jacobus RC yeah I watched all ur vids on the grasshopper you have cleaned it up pretty well looking for mods for my grasshopper
It’s a CZcams link! I put those in the description nowadays haha
great series bud. i used to hate the grasshopper. looked weird but it has grown on me. i love the colours on the vehicle. its italian lol. also with tyre writing and oil shocks, maybe a gt motor/sport tuned motor...i think im sold!
That pinion is shot mate.
Surprisingly it’s held up so far even with a faster brushless from one of my latest vids ... looks like a bevel gear now, I should swap huh
Nice
I was looking for a clean way to run the wires.
So I just put mine together using that motor with a 16T pinion, and DAMN does it move now
Yeah man imagine if it came originally like that back in the days!
servo is on the wrong side of the mounting posts
Appreciate the heads up, it’s been fixed since this video! Thanks for watching 🤙🏽
those pinion teeth look sharp. they are not worn?
Pinion size?
That silver sport tuned motor came out last year the black canned sport tuned motor came out years before so that motor is relatively new from what I heard
Ah yes, I've seen Tomley's video that you linked. I like the look of the black can better with the gold lettering, but I guess the silver can was a bit faster at least in that vid
Jacobus RC yeah I’ve got the black canned for my old grasshopper
Jacobus RC mint condition only built it up last year
I just got a new Remote and receiver, and my car is slowly spinning it’s wheels when I’m not doing anything. It also will not reverse.
Might need to calibrate the esc and adjust throttle points
Hello, what kind of battery size did you use?
Hey, I believe I used a Gens Ace 2s LiPo (7.4v 5000mah), I have a link in some of my other videos but you can search for that
@@JacobusRC ok thank you
Were r the links and how much was the controller and receiver
I just put the links in the description, sorry! -- Also radio+receiver is about $60 USD. I think it's worth it because you can control up to 6 cars with 1 radio. Creates more space too so you dont have a bunch of radios
@@JacobusRC thanks man great series btw
No problem and thanks!
I just found a very old grasshopper is pretty bad shape and i was looking for to vids on restoration so thanks
The sport tuned motor you have from Amazon is a Chinese copy sorry to say
Why not just reverse Ch 2?
Coulda done that, video was a long time ago and I remember I had a hard time learning to navigate the radio settings
You shouldn't call it the ariginal motor as it is not the ariginal 380 silver can motor the grasshopper comes stock with. The motor you have that came with your grasshopper already is a hoped up 540 motor. Why switch it?
Ah yes thanks for clarifying!! wanted a new one that’s why 😆
@@JacobusRC always good to have extra 👍
skip the Tamiya motors. get a titian 12 turn. faster and cheaper.
ma certo, montiamo il motore senza controllare l'accoppiamento e senza pulire controllare e ingrassare la trasmissione 😂 lascia perdere ragazzo, non è il tuo mondo
Non tutto è perfetto 👍🏽😂
