    That reversed call hurt my soul. Years of defending my guy week after week and any time I was in a bar and someone asked me about my Cowboys swag. 2014 was THE year to silence all the critics. In Lambeau vs the NFL Golden Boy and MVP and he did everything he could to pull it off but they robbed him. No one remembers trailing 20-7 late in the playoff game the week before when Romo brought them back to win. No one remembers that Demarco Murray fumbled with nothing but green in front of him, or that the ball bounced into Randall Cobb's hands on a third down conversion in the first half of this game. They remember that Dez 'didn't' catch it and Romo and the Boys went home with an L. If that call is upheld, and Cowboys can't punch it in, or they do, and Rodgers pulls off a late game winning drive, fine. But to have it end that way and have it ripped from them was garbage.

But the refs picking up a flag to help the cowboys beat the lowly lions was a great narrative for all us cowboy haters. And for what it's worth I hate the Packers way more and was upset by that call. He was one of the most criminally under supported QB's in his time. Having a couple of pro bowlers on the team doesn't take away from the fact that the defense was consistently one of the worst in the game by the numbers and the offensive line was for the vast majority of his career a sieve. Pro bowl is a popularity contest in anyone thinking otherwise is a smooth brain. It's a shame that the offensive line only got good when he was already broken from years of taking a beating. And a lot of those big game losses came down to the fact that the defense couldn't stop a pop warner team.
    Saying he wasn't a great I think is subjective. especially when you consider the only reason most say he is not is the big games or the playoffs. Go look at some playoff performances of guys we consider to be great QBs like Warren moon and then tell me we are applying the same standard.

      Thank you. When he had just a little bit of talent around him, they looked great. He never had a good defense.. The man would throw 400+yards, 4 TDs, and then have to come back and win in the last minute.. More than often, he would win. (Look up the stats, most 4th qrtr comebacks of all time). Other times he would throw an INT (of course.. The Defense knows you have to pass. They know you have to hit the sidelines to save time) He shouldn't have to come back to win every other game in the 4th quarter.. Ugghhh..
      I wish we woulda had him healthy for 2 more years. Zekes rookie year especially.

    • @gregorylagrange
      @gregorylagrange Před 4 lety +2

      Nope. Cowboys are media darlings. That partly because they are the most popular team. And that is partly due to the image the world has of America, western movies, and a cowboy being the mascot.
      But, Romo was a good qb. But he was never to the level that the league wanted him to be from a marketing stand point. Never to the level that corporations wanted from a marketing stand point. And never to the level cowboy fans wanted from an image stand point. Bill Parcells said at one point he wasn't sure if he wanted to be a great q or a celebrity qb. Other players on defense from other teams felt he thought he was better than he was.
      Romo was like Jeff Garcia. A good qb, but not considered great. But nobody was going to say when is Jeff Garcia going to take the 49ers to the super bowl because of where he was and where he was. And he wasn't on the level that is going to take a team to the length that a Marino could with the same team.
      And his reputation or legacy is hurt by as soon as he because the starter, then it was endorsement deals all over the place. Not because of what he did on the field, but because he was a commodity being the next starting cowboy qb. And yes, they prefer them to be a white guy. So he didn't suck. He wasn't great. He was good. Like a Jeff Garcia. Who nobody thinks about. But nobody says he sucks either.
