It would be a huge mistake to trade Koonce. He had 8 sacks in the 2nd half of the season last year. He looked a lot like Von Miller to me. If he develops into a legit star (and he might) having him could be a big difference between a super bowl run or not in a couple years. The raiders will be kicking themselves if they trade him and he becomes a star.
I've been saying for months now try to sign Malcolm Koonce to an extension before he dominates in 2024. We've been trying to find a dominant edge rusher opposite Maxx Condor Crosby for many years.

I guess I'm okay with that. When Carr went down, we didn't have a number 2 of any quality to report on. Honestly, both back ups were 3rd string or practice squad quality. The result is a playoff loss.

Good point in the trade of Montez Sweat compensation. Another one is Brian Burns. I would say in NFL circles both of them are valued higher because both were first round picks. If Koonce is traded it will be at the end of the season before he hits free agency unless he is unsignable and the Raiders have no chance at the playoffs.
I’m a firm believer that Luke Getsy was NOT the problem in Chicago and I think he actually was the best option given our personnel

If Tyree Wilson doesn't pan out this year, and we get another solid year from Koonce, pay Koonce and let TW play out the 5 year contract. TW only gets to play out the contract due to measurables, and if he improves.

I’m glad Minshew is able to audible so quickly. He has the most experience in different systems that allows him to do that. Now he gets to teach Aiden the new system and help him along with his progression as second year player. That’s what they brought him in for was to push and help Aiden. He’s doing exactly what he was brought in to do. Aiden will still get the start no matter what Minshew does in camp he is payed as a backup and that’s what he will be u less Aiden flips the team o. Its head Minshew wo t even see the grass in the regular season.
So you going to win yourself some money, Vegas has Aiden to start the season as the backup.
I'm an optimistic Raiders fan and believe that they can have a very successful year. The NFL has been proven to be a league where one year your the worst team, the next year you're hoisting a Lambardi! The defense definitely has the ability to be elite. The offense has the potential to be good. The one thing I have not heard you mention is how incredible our special teams are with regards to our kicking game. I believe we have the best kicker and punter and I would really like you to dive into that aspect of the team.
I think that's just because our special teams play has easily been one of our strongest suits for awhile now

We need another big draft and that takes picks we only have 2 guys I would trade Adams and Kolton Miller. Both would free up a lot of money and net a first round pick and a second round pick. Then we are talking a 11 to 12 win team!
We don’t have to have a top five QB to get to the SB. We just need a QB that limits mistakes, tips and overthrows. Plays as a game manager who can extend plays when things break down and keep drives alive. We don’t need a gazelle running all over the field erratically making mistakes for plays that don’t exist. I agree he'll probably not sign an extension, but if I was Telesco, I'd try to sign him to an extension before the season starts. Make him a fair offer,he can get less per year, but in Vegas, he'll keep more because there's no state taxes.

If Malcom koonce even has a year like he had last year again this year we will 1000% lose him in free agency all a team has to do is offer him 2-3 million more a year and the raiders will not match just because of how much money we’ll already have invest and on top of that we’re still relatively young on the DL even without koonce. So I literally wouldn’t be surprised if he’s gone in free agency if they trade him they either had some inside knowledge of us not being able to keep him or someone sent us and offer we couldn’t refuse. Either I’d be ok with it because I know Tyree gonna be a dominant DE in the run game and atleast at 5-7 sack guy pass rushing on the high end. With Maxx and Wilkins we don’t need tyree to do much worst come to worst we can sign veteran free agents to rotate in with him and other DL-men. We go a corner stone on the outside and inside after that you just need player who can win 1v1 that’s not hard if you have Maxx and Wilkins soaking up double teams. Free agency or draft could easily bring players who can win 1v1. Bottom line if koonce leaves we will be ok.
