I’m Australia and I seriously love the New Zealand anthem especially when he says god of Nations and how you sing in both language that’s what Australia needs to do and you can see how prouds you are and have so much respect for everyone god definitely loves New Zealand

The lyrics for we are young and free the indigenous been here for 50 thousand years their actually the oldest culture on this planet and weren't recognised as human until the late 60s before that they were classed as flora and fauna.

I'm not Maori, but I am grateful that I know both the Maori and English parts because they taught us in the primary back in the day.

This is the best rendition of our anthem before a game to date. Especially without the music and the crowd just singing along in the background. Matiu needs to do this more often, if not all the time

You now it gives you goosebumps when the entire stadium sings along. And then comes the haka, best start of a test match I've seen in years.
Yep, most of the time this and the haka are the last things you hear before you get your butt kicked! The All Blacks are the worlds team - they represent everything that is good about their sport, sport in general, their country, and the human condition. An unparalleled record of excellence.
As an Aussie with a bit of Maori blood in me, this brought a tear to my eye, and the loss more bearable

I'm American (live in Los Angeles) and sing entire anthem. Why do the fans not sing the Maori portion, if they're from New Zealand? Am I the only one that thinks it's strange? It's the most beautiful Anthem ever. I see this often in videos and matches I've watched. Off topic, please bring back Nick Afoa. ☺️

I suppose that's how most would see it, and I kinda feel that way, but at the same time, when someone is singing the Maori version on a stage like this, I kinda... want to hear how they sing the Maori Version tbh... I dunno, I personally would have sung from the beginning if I was there, but It's the Singer of Six60, so a lot of people would really like to hear how he would sing the Maori version you know what I mean?

Ignorance fears knowledge. Knowing the national anthem in Te Reo opens the door to the light we call culture. Any indigenous culture survives on pride and in that pride, the ancestors, nga tupuna.

Love this version…..theres been so many - another fav version of mine is by the group Temperatures Rising - 1993 - They did both anthems for the Maoris and the ABS against the Lions Tour - back than they didnt incorporate the Maori version into the anthem yet - ahh well nemind - another funny story behind their Version…….They were told by the NZRU to not do the anthem in harmony - but luckily people like Murray Mexted and co……decided against their ruling and told the boys to just do it lol.……..as it turned out they smashed it lol

ANZAC Day in Nhulunbuy, NT Australia, we sing both Australian and New Zealand national anthems. The Kiwi Connection sing in Maori and us Aussies join in with the English verse. We don’t want to spoil the Maori verse with mispronunciations.
