    Note: I did not prime the grid. Prior to staining it, I painted a sample of the gel stain onto another white plastic surface (similar to the grid) and was so impressed by the strength of the adhesion that I did not find it necessary to prime. The seller does, however, recommend light sanding and priming before staining/painting.

    I'm glad you didn't do this right before the last ice storm we had in Texas! I'm just wondering what you did with your door opening when you were working on your door all that time? That was excellent work from very talented carpenters!

      Hi, Leo! Thank you for your kind words and feedback- we appreciate it! In answer to your question about the door opening- I ended up cutting an insulation foam board to the size of the opening and then secured everything on the inside with horizontal wood planks that I temporarily brad-nailed into the frame. We then hung a large moving blanket on the outside as an additional barrier. We live in a cul-de-sac and our front door is positioned in a way that it's not really visible from the street, so it was more about keeping things sealed to avoid a Texas critter invasion. Haha! Thanks for watching- hope you'll tune in again in the future.

    I'm in Texas too, maybe I can pay you to help me with my door 😂 because this turned out amazing 😍
    I do have a question. How to you secure your home for the in-between days/nights?

    • @tinistips
      @tinistips  Před 3 dny

      @@taylorgoins10 Haha- nice try!!! 😀 Thanks for watching/commenting! Do you also live in the Central Texas area?
      To answer your question- we purchased a cheap 4x8 insulation sheet that I cut to size of the opening. I made sure it was a snug fit to prevent bugs from entering. I then used about seven to eight wood boards (wood pallet kind) that I brad-nailed horizontally on the inside of the door frame. That not only helped keep the insulation in place but also provided us with enough of a barrier until the door was finished. Hope that helps. If you do tackle your front door, you'll have to let me know how things turned out. 😀

    Hello, this was a very informative video. Thanks for taking your time to show all the steps and providing so much detail.
    Question - where did you get the door wreath with the welcome sign? What size is it? Thank you!

      Hello! Thanks for watching and for taking the time to comment- I appreciate it! In answer to your question, I purchased both the wreath and lettering at Hobby Lobby. I added both items in the description box with the links (Door Wreath & Welcome Wood Wall Decor). I secured the lettering with two zip ties to the wreath. Hope this helps!
