    Great vid! I loved to point you made about sims. I used pilot edge for a year before I started training. I was able to use radios on my very first lesson and soloed in 15.9 hours. Weather has been a bit rough lately so I haven't gotten up as much as I would like but I still fly my sim AT LEAST once a week and go through all of the checklist as though I am in a real plane. Keep the vids coming!

    Outstanding video....I can't thank you enough for sharing your experiences in the SR22. Furthermore, for sharing your thoughts about the Cirrus Flight Center that you used to obtain your PPL. I am in the same boat. I have previous hours all the way to my solo endorsement in a C172. I am a retired veteran from both the U.S. Marines and Air Force for which I worked 22 years as a Aircraft Armament on both FA18's and F16s. I have always wanted to fly but moving from place to place was difficult. Now I am retired I am currently taking a PPL ground school online, once I complete this ground school, I have seriously attending at Cirrus training. I found one here in area. Again, thank you for sharing your experiences. I have my answer.

    Just got my instrument rating in Mar. I would kill to have the capability and parachute of a Cirrus in IMC. When I was training, my instructor and I went from Tennessee to lower Ga in solid IMC at night in a 172R with a 530W and dual G5s. 5.5 hours of actual, no autopilot with 3 approaches almost to minimums. I was literally worn out physically and mentally when we got back.

    The longer you fly the cheaper it is? What world are you living in my friend? The billable hours on a SR22 plane ($600 wet/hour) time and instructor time ($600/hour) plus simulator training ($250/hour). 40 hours at MINUMUM (NOT INCLUDING GROUND SCHOOL) is $53K with 40 hours of plane an instructor time plus 20 hours of simulator time. Do the math and tell people how much you paid to get your license! Answer the question with your truth.

    • @CirrusMJ
      @CirrusMJ  Před rokem

      Hey Kevin - I think there was a misunderstanding and maybe I didn't explain what I meant well enough, so I apologize. I said the MORE you fly, the less money it will cost overall - meaning if you are able to fly several times a week or more, you will remain more proficient and be able to progress to new things faster, and ultimately up being ready to take your check ride and get your certificate quicker. People that only fly once a week, once a month etc. will have to re-learn things they did on their last flight because as humans, we forget things as time goes on... and there's a lot to remember! This ends up costing substantially more money because you are extremely unlikely to be able to take a check ride around 40-50 hours if you're only flying once every couple weeks.
      I did most of my training in an SR-20 which was substantially cheaper than the SR22/22T models, and the flight time cost wet is under $400/hr on those planes. The instructor only adds $100/hour to that, not an additional $600/hr. I did not do any time in a simulator, all of my flight time for my PPL was done in an actual plane.
      Altogether my total cost from 0 hours - private pilot was under $25k and I took my check ride with around 49 hours. Towards the end of your training, a lot of your flight time is solo so you aren't paying for the instructor during these flights which saves that money as well.
      Hope this helps and if you have any other questions just let me know!!
