- The last-ever interview Thomas Markle is likely to give. He wants to make a last appeal for reconciliation with Meghan and a chance to meet the grandchildren he so wishes to see before he dies. He would also like it to be part of a process by which the Sussexes also make peace with Harry's father and brother. Thomas, who has recovered his speech following a severe stroke, says that he has shared grandchildren with the King of England for a whole year and neither has seen their grandchildren.
Both he and King Charles have been described as hardworking, shy and grumpy at times, and he is willing to acknowledge the fact this may not have helped solve the situation. But, despite being heartbroken that his daughter failed to make contact or ask about him in the wake of his stroke, he is keen to reach out if only for one conversation - in whichever format she chooses.

I think it is incredibly rude of this male interviewer to keep saying to Thomas, "well you're on death's door, and you'll be dead soon, and you almost died earlier this year." What is wrong with you? Is that how you would want someone addressing your elderly parent?? Where is your professional demeanor??

That brought me to tears. Meghan didn't want the world to see her lovely, but normal, family. They weren't "posh" enough. Meghan did not want to the world to know that her family was normal. My father was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease several months before my sister's wedding. He walked her up the aisle, with assistance, and he delivered a very short speech. The most loved and important matter was that he was there.

With all due respect Mr. Markle and his oldest daughter (Samantha) went on interview after interview bashing Meghan and Harry for years. M&H only did their documentary 5 years later to tell their story due to all the misconceptions told about them as they sat in silence. As a parent I will protect my children and my peace from anyone regardless of who they are (ei: King or Grandparent). Which is what they're doing and have a right to do... if he wants to restore his relationship with his daughter and see his grandkids he can start by not speaking to the media (press).
Mr Markle Snr should concentrate on the family members who DO want to see him rather than those who don't.

This is heartbreaking to listen to. My father died when I was very young. I would have given everything to have a present, loving dad like Thomas. How tragic that his generosity & sacrifices are so unappreciated by his awful daughter.
Right...he's made some mistakes in life just like everyone else on this planet. He is very well meaning man...all he sacrificed for his kids...if he wanted to adopt me I can guarantee him I'd love up on him like a doting daughter. This is just so cold she isn't wanting to meet so when he does pass there are no regrets. It kills me all I wish I didn't say to my mom when she passed...if Megan has a soul I hope she gets to him before it's too late. But Markle in his life could have given Megan a worse life or a life that didn't involve all the opportunities he's provided her. I come from an affluent famous family and despite my family is weird...I know they loved me a lot. I was adopted because I was an abandoned baby in Asia and my mom came from LA to get me to take me to Canada so.she could work on getting me home in a family

This man was a respected Emmy award winning lighting director, who supported Meghan in her early endeavors. He did a few missteps with the media but not deserving of absolute desertion in his old age and infirmity.

Many believe he was set up by the paparazzi (by Meghan). There are interviews online with Samantha Markle who explains the situation and why she thinks it happened. Sam is well educated (mental health professional) and very articulate and lays out the facts. Also it seems the letter to her father was leaked to People mag (by Meghan). I believe details came out during a court case in the UK. Looks like Meghan had reasons to try to discredit the Markle family and the Samantha interviews explain it.

He was an oscar nominated Lighting Director with two Emmys, who looked after Meghan for a huge proportion of her life, paid for her lessons and took her to studios to get her started in her career. He was left to deal with hordes of journalists when Harry and Meghan became engaged, his only mistake was deciding to give a reporter exclusive coverage to get rid of the rest of the media outside his front door. By comparison to H and M sharing everything, including very personal details, I can't see what he did that was so terrible just having his picture taken trying a suit on and reading some London guide books!.
When you compare it to anything Meghan has caused the royal family, what he did was nothing. I hope Harry and Meghan never expect ant forgiveness from all those they have hurt. Especially his family.

My father passed away from cancer back in 1988 when I was only eight years old. I would give anything to give my father a hug and I always try to send positive energy to dads like Mr. Markle. My father wasn't perfect and he was damaged from his time in World War II. But he was always my hero. No one is perfect.

As someone who was raised by an abusive mother, cut ties with her and moved far away from her. When I had a child, I realized that parents make mistakes and I can forgive her, let her meet her grand kid, and responsibly monitor her around him so they can develop a healthy relationship. Megan's doing this out of manipulation. Her father (according to her) only did this one thing wrong. She didn't even bother to check in on him when he was dying.

I refused opportunities because I couldn’t leave town because my dear Dad loved his grandson unconditionally. We lost Dad last year but he had 23 great years with my son. The bond between grannies is off the planet.

I never had a relationship with my father because of my mother. I had two children and the last time I spoke to my dad he wanted to see his grandkids before he died. This never happened 6 months later he passed away. For the last 6 years I have lived with this burden and take accountability that I robbed my children of knowing or seeing their pop . Hopefully Thomas gets to see his grand children.

I'm not a Meghan Markle fan. But Thomas Markle is not helping himself out here by trying to see the grandkids this way. She will never let him see them with his constant running to the media. He doesn't actually have the right. It's based on relationship.
They're in America. He does have a right. We only have a handful of reasons you can lawfully keep a grandchild from their grandparents.

He could try suing but unless he has a good solid reason other than "I want to see them just cuz I'm the grandpa", he ain't winning that.
Besides, if the kids reside in another country with their parents, any attempt at "suing" is almost laughable.
Unless the kids are abused or in bad conditions, he must respect her decision, he already had his own children and did as he wanted to when they were young, he doesn't get to decide over other people's children.
Megan might be unfair with her decision, or perhaps she has good reasons behind it, honestly, who knows, but that's irrelevant anyway cause these are her kids, not his, and if she doesn't want certain people in their young lives for X or Y reasons, then that's it.

@NiceDonkey3417 ironically, it seems to be you the one in need of some reading. Visitation rights aren't granted without good reason, and just because someone thinks they are entitled to somebody else's children.
Grandparents' rights are usually only granted in cases where there is already a pre-existing and strong relationship between the child and the grandparent (which isn't in this case), and if they can prove that ending said relationship can negatively impact the child.
So good luck on him winning that one! 👌🏼
In reality, and unless well justified, most of these requests are easy to dismiss/deny because there are laws that actually protect biological parents over any other family member in relation to the child (unless there's abuse, neglect... ect ).

We were always so proud of her...but she has turned her back on us. I can’t understand why this happens in families. My parents are both dead and we’re not perfect but I’d never turn my back on them and had so much contact. Now they’re gone I’m so glad we had the relationship we did. I can’t see what Mr Markle did that deserved this? So sad and heartbreaking for him and his grandchildren.

Sorry - but Meghan has called paparazzi on herself countless times before & after the marriage… she’s a hypocrite of the highest order, & to discard her father in such a callous & heartless way after spending years on her blog praising him is an utter disgrace. At Invictus she spoke of the importance of family, yet she & Harry have discarded or betrayed their own without remorse.
Many people Thomas was set up by paparazzi and Meghan had something to do with it. There are interviews online with Thomas and Samantha Markle who explains it in great detail and she is educated (Mental Health professional) and very articulate.

I honestly think the letter did it. He is her father - why in the world would he release that letter to the media and then claim innocence. I too wouldn't speak to my father if he did that to me. First all her siblings tried to stop her wedding to Harry. Including her father. They all tried to stop the wedding in many ways possible and then the letter was the tip of the iceberg. I too wouldn't talk to my father if he did that to me. where was the support and love for her when she was getting married to Harry - why stop the wedding? Now they want to speak to her and see the kids? not cool at all.
The letter was after she told him that he could come to the wedding if he disowned her brother & sister. Yeah, it was probably a mistake, but he blacked out the really horrible parts. I can understand why he & her brother & sister were hurt & upset at that time. He's apologized for those things, but the things she has done are far worse!
