- I've made a goal to run 1 mile in 4:59 (sub-5 minutes) while weighing 200 lbs (90 kg). I am not a runner, I am not a personal trainer... I'm just sharing my experience to hopefully inspire you to move your body a little more.

If you want to burn more fat you need to run lower than 130 bpm.
Impressed with your dedication. Also, running is hard, no matter your condition. Kudos for embracing it.
You’re so inspiring man🔥 so proud of ya!
Thank you! You’ve been there since the early days
I found you Chanel when I was looking for Apple Watch ultra review, and I keep watching all videos. Great content! Keep going 🎉
Best channel I discovered in 2022. Thanks for being such an inspiration and producing really motivational content! Happy New Year!
Thank you!! That means so much to me
Love this! You’re gonna crush this challenge - keep stacking that fitness 💪
you are not trying, you are DOING Shervin !
Love your content! Came here for the gear reviews but now you are inspiring me to want to be healthier. Been back in the gym already and going back to tracking my eating and meal planning
Yesssss this is my end goal with the channel. So happy to hear that
I'll be cheering for you!
Great content as usual; your experience very much mimics mine. Where we diverge is I have moved to focusing on CrossFit 4 days a week and do long runs 1 day a week in Zone 2. As we get older (I am 48), aerobic capacity is important, but strength and mobility is even more important. For me, CrossFit is doing both- building that aerobic/anaerobic base via HIIT and strength at the same time. Running is a bonus result; I am doing a half in May. Keep up the great work! At some point I need to do a very fast 400m, not sure when I will work on that LOL.
Great informative video. Love these videos and learning a ton.
Tyyyyy
Wow, I have seen just a fee vids on your channel today. But damn, you must be the top hidden gem channel of this entire year. All of your vids are so well made and top tier quality, you are definitely underrated asf!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH - that means so much. It’s comments like this that excite me to keep creating. What should I make next?
This is awesome! Bro, you are going to crush it 💪
Thank you!!
Love the videos, Shervin. The videos are making me utilize my Apple Watch to set and keep track of goals.
Question: where did you get your steps for you shoes to connect to your backpack?
YOUR VIDEOS ARE AWESOME! I´ll be setting up Strava soon and shoot you a friend request. Currently in Hamburg, Germany and training for my first marathon. Trying to recover from a foot injury but plan to be back this week!
Keep hustling brother! Wishing you continued success in 2023
Thank you!!! I bought your sub 5 min plan & so helpful!
@@ShervinShares 👍✊🙏
My VO2 max is around 39 if the real number tends to be 3 less than the Apple Watch… and I’m an 18yo guy 😬😬😬 Shervin, you’ve inspired me to get back into running. Making a training plan right after I type this. Love your videos!
Ur so talented my guy
I am 200 lbs now, at 40 years old. Probably running a 8:30 mile pace hahaha. Back in High School I was running sub 5 minute miles for Track and Field. Gotta train, I have subscribed, and will be adding your profile- I agree community is needed for encouragement.
Good goal. I wish improving speed on 1 mile (and shorter) was as popular as distance running… such huge benefits and more dynamic training. Rooting for ya
Yoooo awesome stuff man ! Just started running training myself , only been lifting for a while . For some reason running is the absolute worst.
Noooo it gets more fun the longer you do it
@5:58 what is this rubber system you are using to bind your running shoes ? It looks handy to hold them on your backpack
@shervinshares want to know this as well
Love to see this, Shervin! How's your training going right now?
TY! I got injured so I haven’t been running sadly. Something with my ankle/lower shin area. Waiting for it to fully heal
i am loving your videos even more these days! question: so aside from the specific running time goal, you are trying to hit the health goals you mentioned- why not achieve that through swimming since thats your background? i assume the health advantages through the swim route is more, no?
I want to change it up. Swimming is hard to access too without a pool nearby. I want to increase muscle mass, improve my fasting glucose, and feel energetic
Great video to end the year, Shervin!
May you have great health and success in 2023! As a data scientist/mathematician/professor, I predict that you will exceed 100k subscribers during 2023! 👏👍💪
And my Apple Watch Ultra, Oura Ring Gen 3, and Fenix 7X will come along for the ride.
I hope your calculations are correct! What’s the upper limit subscriber on this?? Haha
Yesss
@@ShervinShares 125k-150k
@@Zane_Zaminsky 2023 Goal: break your upper limit prediction :)
@@ShervinShares Awesome, Shervin! 👍👏💪
trying sub 24 then sub 20 5km. Greate video as always!
Did the track detection work with the custom workout on the Apple Watch?
King
Do you have a link to a written copy of the training play you used?
That’s such a a cool rock climbing gym.
Almost inspired to start running in 2023
Easy days easy, hard days hard. And 3 or 4 easy days for each hard day.
5 P rule : progressiveness, patience, perseverance, pleasure... = performance!
With that you can't do any mistake 🙂
In 2023 I'm aiming to run 5km sub 20 mins. And 2 miles sub 12 mins. I would have comfortably and regularly run 10Km sub 40 mins up until a few years ago. I had a few disc injuries and fell out of the routine of regular, hard running.
Good video shervin!! Bring back the beard bro it suits you better 💪✌️
Where’s the update?
What do you think of Withings products? I just bought their scale, BP cuff, & thermometer
amazing!! i have their scale, BP, and thermometer too!!! maybe i should make a video about this. why'd you go with Withings vs other brands?
@@ShervinShares you know I did some research & they stood out to me more I guess. Qardio is a great brand, but I’ve always known Withings. I love their scale & it’s what got me motivated to lose weight. I’d love to see you do a video on their products
Do sub 4 minute mile plan
Great video. My goal this year is to run 5k in under 30min
Yes!! Lets gooo
What's the name of the music at the very end?
It’s a song by The Siege I believe!
Did you give up on this goal? Your next running video is marathon prep.
Consistency over time equals results? I think it should be consistency times time equals results
tomato tomato! Consistency over a long period of time = results. So that’s how I made my “equation”
Sub 5 minute mile is not easy to do. It takes a decent amount of talent and a lot of hard work. For people who don't run it's going to take them like 5 YEARS to run a sub 5 minute mile, Or longer. For people who actually train it might take like a year or a couple of years. If you can't find a VERY good coach and if you don't have the right support. Running a sub 5 minute mile will probably never happen to you unless you have INSANE work ethic.
39 degrees?!? I’m wearing gloves when it’s in the low 50s
Hahah NYC changes people #resilience
Brother great video, but if you truly want to run faster you have to run on the balls of your feet. With each strike you're currently hitting heel first, which takes up a lot of energy and isn't a humans natural running form.
When you first start your calves will be on fire, but through continuous practice they will adapt and you'll run much more natural and speedier too!
thank you!
Cool, but why?
Longevity! Short term goal to build long term habits
who's filming you? 🤔
A tripod?
My buddy Zach!
That 459 wouldnt even make the D1 Girls team...papi
This is a casual athlete just taking on a new challenge.
I don't know, man. 200 lbs is heavy for a 5-minute, probably not be healthy for your heart. Do you plan to lose weight? I am just trying to be scientific, not negative.
I’ve actually gained weight & sitting at 210lbs right now. It’s not ideal & that’s kind of why I want to do it - do the non-traditional
@@ShervinShares OK, go look at Nick Bare’s video where he runs 4::53 at 194 pounds. He was in tip top shape and darn near killed himself.
@@jakemccoy if he can do it, why can't I??
Albuterol is cheating. Sub 5 min mile will be unnatty
LOLOLOL but I have asthma!!
Where’s the update on this? Did you give up the dream?
