This song deserves a place on the 10 greatest songs of all time. But it's so forgotten...
    Even by Purple fans!!!

A masterpiece of a tune where they mix rock and classical in a very nice way. This shows the genious of both Lord and Blackmore.
This song is so underrated and should be in the same class as "Whiter shade of Pale", "California Dreaming" and "All along the Watchtower".

April goes full circle: classical to electric rock and back to classical. -- At the time, a lot of hipsters loved the contrast of the the classical rock merge; we loved it 'cause we took the tradition and merged it with our flip of the music, culture, and consciousness . We co-opted centuries of Europe's music, reclaimed the beauty and truth in the tradition and used it, in a poetic sense of justice, to express our new, often ancient ideals that reviled the empires of Europe.

the magic of music is the only way to go back to the past, a kind of time machine, specially this early son of Deep Purple,a peom symphonia for Band & orchestra

deep purple is probably the most underrated rock band of all time... look at what they can do but they still aren't as famous as they deserve

Deep Purple are the best hard rock band ever. They were the first to play with a philarmony orchester when they Deep Purple in Royal Albert Hall.
They are, as far as I know, the only one that combined rock with a kind of 17 century music when did April.
They are the best of the best!!!!

I still remember getting high to such mellow Acapulco rock weed and drinking ice cold Coronita de barril Crevezas in a hot Mexican summer with my stoner friends debating history and world events and our place in society. while listening to Deep Purple.

I visited Rock meets Classic this year in Kempten. It was great. But this song was the initial flame for me many many years ago. There is no battle between Classic and Rock. Its the harmony of a couple who was falling in an eternal love long ago. They are able to inspire and support each other and the result are such great melodies like this one. R.I.P. Jon, you were one of the most famous supporters of the rock and classic couple. Can you imagine that House, HipHop or Rap would get the same harmony with Classic like Rock does it, can't you? I don't think so.
