Born and raised New Yorker here. Wow talk about serious nostalgia! Appreciate the video!
Love the Twin Towers, I wish they were still there!
Yeah but sadly it was destroyed on 9/11
Every time I come over the Verrazano I can’t help but stare at the forever changed Manhattan skyline. It’ll never feel right not seeing the towers. 🖤 Everyone who lost their lives that day are forever in my thoughts when I travel into the city and always.
Love this video about the 90s. Beautiful city. I miss the 90s.
Wow, I think you love recording since you were a kid. You never thought that 25 years later you was gonna upload it to a future platform that didn't exist back then (CZcams) and that thousands and thousands of people across the globe will watch it (25 years later)!
Nice throwback! I drove this route many times and remember seeing the twin towers from there.
This is awesome, AK! Seeing the Twin Towers brought back memories. Thanks for posting...
ikr 😕
@@b.griffin317 Hi there...I was busy this weekend and missed the last 2 streams, dang it. Hope everything is cool with you!
Hey! I move to NYC in about just a month and a half this fall for school. I just wanted to let you know how much of a role your videos have played in my journey of falling even more in love with the city than before; to me, you're a small town hero and I can't tell you how much your commentary and daily adventures excite me to start my new life there. Thank you. :)
You've come to The City at just the right time. 😂
"Welcome to New York" as they say.
b. griffin Right 😂 Luckily, family is originally from the city and I’ve visited an embarrassing amount of times over the past ten years so I’ll be better off than a complete stranger
You're welcome! I'm glad you think so 😂
whoa this is a throwback then cool find action kid
That was so awesome this was definitely 95-96 great video
This was when Brooklyn was great.
Great video and note how light the traffic was!! I miss the good old days when there was no rush hour and no traffic jams; could go anywhere 24/7 without issue.....
I was born in 1996, so I have just a few memories from before the year 2000, but I still remember the skyline of NYC, riding the SI ferry with my father and watching the buildings get larger and larger
An old footage road trip to New York in the mid 1990s. Everything looked a lot different in the pass. A flash back to the best times in New York City.
Aww!!!! Thank you for sharing my friend❤
Whoa, when action kid was actually a kid! aka ActionKid: The Early Years!
Great video ActionKid. Brings me back to the good ol' days. The first bridge in the video is old Goethals Bridge before they built the new one. It used to look similar to the Outerbridge Crossing only its span is shorter than the Outerbridge. I really miss the original World Trade Center. That's when New York was New York.
Yep! This was the old Gothals Bridge, not the Outerbridge Crossing.
Good catch! I'll change the title!
God I miss the twin towers. As a born and native New Yorker...a piece of me died on Sept 11 2001.
😞
The 1990s was the best time to be a New Yorker. No question
So do I.
@@DANNY10MADRID ong
You are right a piece of me died that day as well
Charming video thanks AK from Argentina 🙋♀️🇦🇷
@John Walter Sabattini Hola cómo estás? Sí acá mucho frío. Y sí los dulces son ricos!!! Conocés Argentina? Cómo está NY con el Covid? Cuídate 🇦🇷🙋♀️😷❤
@John Walter Sabattini Buen día ok. Stay home! Suerte saludos 🇦🇷🙋♀️👍
Thank you for brightening my day! We’re so fortunate to be New Yorkers, and to have roots there. Stay safe and well, AK!
O, man, this is really a good find. Love it. Back in time, when I was a teenager. LOL
ACTIONKID has been in ACTION since he was a KID! 😯 You just blew my mind away, bro! 🤯 Awesome video! ♥
Absolutely awesome!!!!! I remember...
When I saw the towers, I felt like crying. 😔
This is so cool! Hope there’s more old footage to come!
I hope so but I highly doubt it
Wow that is Classic video. I remember using this bridge many times to visit friends on the Island. You are great travel guide...and know your stuff
Excellent footage from the past
Wow. I found that quite emotional. Thanks AK 🙏
But you can always find me in Astoria Queens about every 60 days!!!!! Believe it
Here early! Looks like the footage got pretty messed up on the top of the video, other than that still fascinating footage of NYC back in the Mid 1990s. I think if this were reconverted or cropped in to 16:9, that would be awesome too!
It was even a miracle that I was able to find this footage. I had thought this cassette for sure was blank! Unfortunately, the video and was damaged. The audio especially.
@ActionKid 😔 Awwwww man... Still a great find nonetheless AK! I would love to see more 90s NYC on your own timing. Hopefully they are better preserved 😉
NYC before 2000 is a fascinating place to behold!
magnetic technologies don't age well. I had a bunch of VHS of myself playing video games and beating them at speed. Should've kept them and upload them as let's play in VHS.
Born & raised in Brooklyn 🔥🔥 native New Yorker born in 93 🔥
Kinda makes you wanna cry when you see the Twin Towers. 😢
Man this is cool. My childhood. Thanks ActionKid!
Thanks AK! Great vintage memories!
I miss the 90s .
Love ur content
Ahhh, such a sweet memory on video! Bravo, ActionKid! I love the music, too...
Thank you!
Neat!
Brings back great memories. I was living there at that time. I went on the Verrazano Bridge many times with my family. Those were really great times and I will never forget them. Be blessed AK👍🏽💯❤🔥
The views of the city, along with the music, is absolutely incredible, thumbs up from me
Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I miss my Twin Towers. Native New Yorkers know what they meant to the city and the NYC skyline has never been the same without them. :(
This is Really Amazing..you are such a wonderful person. I like it 👍👍👍
You will live longer with your generation...
Cool old footage, so nice to see!
Great footage!
Thanks for sharing great footage!! Nice job !! 😊👍
wow very cool thanks for sharing this.
Absolutely beautiful awesome amazing best video ever!!!!!!!!!!! The world Straight up loves action kid forever!!! He literally has carried us through the virus and still is!!!! Tulsa Oklahoma USA
New York was so beautiful back then I really wished i got to see the towers🥺
but im pretty sure i seen when i was younger cuz my mom worked in manhattan🤔
That's amazing find.
Amazing
Awesome 👏 thanks for sharing
Yes kids, this is regular 1990s video quality and yes, we watched movies like that!
Dam I’m 13 and I really want to go back to your generation
great video at that time
Reminds me of the sopranos!
This video made me feel nostalgic. I miss the twin towers and the 90s. ❤ I am from Queens and would take the Verrazano to the bqe all the time.
NYC doesn't look the same today. I can't believe a city this iconic didn't in some way build the towers stronger and safer. Is it somehow too much to ask? One of my relatives moved to Chicago from NY eventually. Because according to him, despite new buildings popping up there: "the skyline still looks like 1991."
Wow!
Let me show you Manhattan street by street.
Awesome footage imagine if they had your gimble of today back then!
Wow I love this seeing the twin towers looks crazy back in the day now with the one world it still looks wild
First I can't believe it
There are the twins...darn, I vaguely remember them.
No this is definitely late 90s, because the Marriot hotel building is shown there in Downtown Brooklyn, so it was definitely 1998 or 1999.
AncientKid 😎
the music is great too
Thank you!
@@ActionKid welcome AK
Twin towers ❤️
My mother drove that in the 1990s
Damn a piece of me is left in that city #neverforget
Hello
Uh ah, No gimbal those were the days ;)
Shakiness everywhere!
What Month and Date was it in the mid 1990s?
❤👏
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
This was a great time for New York! Rudy Giuliani was Mayor and he cleaned up the city! And then Bloomberg and Dibozo screwed it up again - Giuliani for NYC mayor again!
... and thus "Actionkid" (first video) was born.
AK101
In hindsight, perhaps a 'Before & After' combined video of this archival video and one taken now of the same route. Old: pan left New: pan left, Old: finger on window New: finger on window.
Nice influence, Mary Jane's music style. Looks like an Art movement forming Nue Majk + Tom ...
Funny reading nostalgic comments about about NYC in the 90's. Check out the 1948 film noir movie "Naken City", director Jules Dassin, filmed on the streets of NYC. It shows kids playing games on the sidewalk. It was a time when people felt safe enough that they didn't lock their doors. Imagine that. Is there a "Weegee" filter on video software?
Glad I didn't say in the back seat.
How old were u back then
whoaa i wasnt even born LOL
oh my, lol
It was almost before my time too!
The city in it's prime
Did u ever get the chance to go up the towers?!
No
*Get the chance
@@GetRekt-bw6pu thank you I edited it!
@@ActionKid would have been fun ☹️
A-K 👈🎯
Let me geuss what that year of 1996
4:20 Is this your finger AK? 🤔
Not sure
The towers...
Welcome 🙋♂️
Good bye 🙋♂️
I'm really glad I got to see the twin towers before that unfortunate day.
