Tallie guessed Voidfall on Farrell's list every chance she had 🤣 Nice lists and enjoyed your different perspectives.
She knew it was coming!
Nice top ten video! Really enjoy hearing both your reasonings!
Thanks!
Grabbed Spots based on your recommendation. It was a big hit at my Yule gathering yesterday! The silliness of the art and the names of the dogs created a bunch of table talk also. Great fun :)
Love to hear that!! We’ve actually got it on the table with the parents right now, had a really epic game just now where it really came down to the wire! Enjoy!
Played about 6 games of Voidfall so far (solo) and I’m only just getting comfortable taking quick actions. In my early games, I would plan my entire round out before even taking a single action. It’s hard to get to the table due to its size and setup time, but once I’ve got it going, it is so satisfying to play!
Tbf it's not a bad way to go considering if you don't it's all too easy to find yourself missing out on a bunch of points cuz you played the cards in the wrong order!
Nice list :) Am still umming and aahing over which GWT to pick up (beyond the first)... Have a great holiday season!
Best description I could give you, having played everything GWT:
- Original if you want the version that's easiest to get to the table, most elegant. Expandable with RttN if you desire.
- Argentina if you want a slightly heavier GWT that doubles down on everything that makes GWT good.
- New Zealand if you want a "feel good" GWT that appeals to modern euro sensibilities.
You can't go wrong really, just a matter of what you're looking for.
We will be putting our GWT Buyer’s Guide video out soon, maybe that can help your decision!
@@BoardOfItReviews I look forward to it :)
@@thijsschipper6406 Many thanks!
Great list!
My 2023 top 3:
1) Nucleum
2) Halls of Hegra
3) Sky Team
I want to try John Company! It just seems like such a genius design with incredible interaction. Unfortunately I hear you really need to have the right group.
And Voidfall is on my to play list. Hopefully in the next week!
Heard a lot of buzz around Sky Team, just really think it would fall flat with us two. Maybe have to try it first at a board game cafe.
@@BoardOfItReviews it’s a good 2P coop with no quarterbacking really. But not sure if coop is you guys’ preference
I like Waypoints too. But also really enjoy Villagers of the Oak Dell, and Fliptown.
Fliptown is available as a PNP and is amazing!!!
Have a nice holiday :)
Thanks for the recommendations, always nice to know more great roll and writes! You too!
Excellent list. Have you played Kutna Hora yet?
We have not actually but it's been recommend a few times now and is on the to buy list!
Great list, I like that you are people who really play what you get and I love to see the doggos on camera.- BTW nice sweater, do you speak spanish?
Only if knowing the lyrics to Feliz Navidad & how to order a beer classifies as knowing Spanish ;).
@@BoardOfItReviews hahaha kind of. You're just missing saying Gracias/thanks and you're done
What are you going here, you traitor!? D8.
Merry Christmas guys.
Merry Christmas to you too!
Thanks for the list!
I've been wanting to buy Ticket to Ride: Europe for a long time, but I have doubts about whether it's good to play with only two players.
Do you have a similar experience, what are your impressions? Have you used any house rules for more interesting gameplay?
Sorry, we've never played Ticket To Ride Europe!
Good list.
You're 100% correct!
This was a cool top ten list. I feel like not many creators would have John Company and as many heavy games so high, while giving love to a lot of good party games too. Yall must have a great group to play with. :)
Thanks a lot! We defo lean towards heavy, but it's always nice to have lighter ones to play with the family or to chill out with. We've managed to conscript a lot of friends, so now we have a fairly good selection to draw upon :).
Spots is great, I just took delivery of John Company and I still can't find an opponent for Undaunted Stalingrad 😞. Funny you came across red wine and coke via Spain and South America, I discovered it in Bradford England - it's a delicious way of using not so great reds.
So, all red wine ;)? Hope you get to playing Stalingrad!
Im happy to drink anybody's unwanted red wine.😊
Will you be doing a John Company review ?
100% I think, and probably soon in the new year. For us we just wanted to really play it enough to review, which takes time. But we are pretty happy now, we actually just played back to back games! I think we'd like to have our Buyer's Guide for GWT out next, we owe a review for Forest Shuffle, then maybe JC within January?
Fantastic, the GWT guide sounds great too I have GWT and GWTA but was one holding back on GWTNZ as I wasn't sure if I needed it or it was just a completionist urge that made me want it😂
Excellent list! I really enjoy Obsession. Ra is on my Shelf of Opportunity. This year shorter games have definitely resonated with me: Votes for Women, Deadly Dowagers, Bloody Inn. Votes for Women is a great area control game that walks players through the U.S. suffrage movement. One that won't win game of the year but resonated with my friend group is Gay Sauna.
Keep up the great work!
I'd quite like to try Bloody Inn at some point! Votes for Woman too as we love those head to head 2 player games.
Out of interest, how many games do you guys play a week, total plays not individual titles?
Really depends on a myriad of things. What plans do we have, what are the new games on our in tray - are they short like Spots, or long like GWT New Zealand? For this week we've got about 7 games in between us, and I was away for the week. Out of those 7, 5 were very short games, and 2 were John Company (today), which obviously was almost the whole day. On an average week, it could be the same 7 or so plays but all of them are 2 or more hour euros (GWT, Voidfall), or we could have 20 plus plays of things like Sail, Spots, My City.
@@BoardOfItReviews fair play, i'm lucky if we get 4 games in a week. i have mates round midweek for games night but a late start so we only get one game in but its always something medium length such as Dwellings, Shadow Kingdoms, Dune, a random Shem title or Kemet, then week ends with the wife 2 player we get 2 or 3 in depending on plans.
Sven's Top 10? :)
1. Treat
2. Treat
3. Treat
4. Treat
Repeat to fade 😅
Not sure if the fact so many games were shared between your two lists means you've got very similar tastes, or you didn't actually play that many different games this year…
We'll I'd hope we have similar tastes, otherwise one of us would never be enjoying what we play! Being a review channel you can generally assume we play quite a few games across a year, otherwise the content would get really stale really quick.
