    For flag #7. we got our pup from a 5 hour ride away from us and she came delivered but our breeder had offered us to make a visit but we couldn’t make it to make a visit so sometimes a tip is if the breeder is offering you to visit it is likely trustworthy (an extra flag) if you request for photos and videos they deny to send them immediately for instance “oh the puppy is sleeping” “I’ll send you it later” that may be a breeder you should avoid

      You're totally right, finding a breeder further away can definitely work! Those key phrases that you mentioned do sound like big red flags. Thanks for sharing!

    There’s a breeder in Ohio who has a really nice application asking about you and making sure to video call, and they also feed the dog really expensive high quality food, plus they have videos of the puppies and a lot of happy customers, but bc of not wanting to bring in diseases to the puppies they won’t allow coming to see the puppy, so I’m not sure what to think, any tips?

    Please remember that breeders are people too! We don’t allow strangers into our home, where I raise my children, for many reasons! We could open ourselves up to being robbed, hurt, diseases, ect. Imagine having 10+ random strangers in and out of your home! Breeding is a hobby. We’re not a store.

      I guess that's fair it would be reasonable especially because I am also but it won't at least 20-plus people in my house I'm an introvert so not only what I feel uncomfortable I would feel unsafe so I guess some people would be quick to assume for how many bad breeders there are so it's understandable where you're going and where your point of view is

    I’ve had a lot of trouble finding a good breeder it seems like everyone’s a scammer. Can you recommend?

    Another thing is if a breeder says you can’t see the dad but offers pictures but will let you see the mother it’s often becuase they are studs and not owned by the breeder. However I’m sure they are willing to get video from the stud’s owner. ALSO HEALTH TESTS please make sure your dogs parents are health tested!!!!! Also if you do go visit your pup don’t expect it to be spotless dogs poop as long as the pups look clean and well and it doesn’t look like the pen hasn’t been cleaned in days ur in the clear.

    There is a reason that breeders meet you at another location.
    It is mostly for disease prevention.
    They don't need an infectious disease being bought into the home of the puppies.

    I got my puppy 3 days ago and he already knows sit! He barks quite a lot when we put him in his crate for the night any tips to stop that.

    • @NessaandSophie
      @NessaandSophie  Před 2 lety

      He sounds like a smart puppy! Sophie used to cry a lot in her crate at night when we first brought her home. I think it honestly just takes time for the them to get used to it but what I would do with Sophie was I'd put her in her crate for small periods of time throughout the day and give her lots of treats inside (even things like a kong toy, but don't forget to supervise) when she was calm. I found this helped build positive association with the crate and she'd have time to practice being in there other than just at night when I was trying to sleep.

      When I get him, I'm intending to sleep on the floor with my pup in his bed right next to me. He'll have just been taken away from his Mom, litter mates, and everything he's known, I don't think he should be alone those first three nights. (And maybe longer, depending.)

    Another red flag is a puppy raised in a barn and not the family home
