    So glad I found this video. I just adopted a 1 yr old cavapoo and within 4 days he’s so attached to me . I have 3 kids and a husband but I am his favorite. I notice he’s starting to show separation anxiety…

    I have a cavapoo and maltipoo. They are best friends and do fine when I leave because they have each other❤

    My little Ricco is exactly the same way. Loves me so much he can't do it. I'm still working on it and we are only at 14 weeks

    My 9 month Cavapoo settles in her crate well when I have to leave her to go to the shops (usually only 1-2 hours, but max I’d ever leave her is around 4 hours). But if I leave her in a room to go into another and close the door, she sounds so distressed and upset. I’d love to get to a place where I can leave her safely in a room instead of her crate when I have to go out. I can’t wait to see the techniques you try! Cavapoos are so friendly and affectionate, but it breaks my heart that they suffer so badly from separation anxiety.

    I love this video. It’s super helpful. My question is, what is the longest time you have left Sophie? We are getting a Cavapoo puppy soon. I’m usually gone between 4-5 hrs. a day. Do you think this is long? Thanks 🐶

    Ah, it breaks my heart to hear that little cry. But I am so glad there is tech nowadays so that we can see what happens after we leave. She was able to regulate herself after a bit, so there is hope.
    It strikes me that Sophie must have thought of your family as secondary pack members, since I believe you said you lived together. You were together even more for the touring, and she loved that. But then, poof, they were gone. Her most important pack member is still here. But will she poof? Sophie may be hyper vigilant of that. She is getting used to a lot of new situations. I do think time is your friend.
    Knowing you, I believe you will give most of the techniques a try. I'm looking forward to see the results. Thanks for taking the effort to show us your work.

      The fact that she was able to settle down is definitely something to celebrate and I do think she really misses my family too. I think we assume that because dogs are so easy going and adaptable that we forget that they still need their time to adjust, but I think Sophie will get there too! 😊

    Would it help if you put more *stuff* in her crate, do you think? Toys, chew toys, maybe hide some treats she could find?
    I wonder why the move (re)kindled separation anxiety? That to me is the real mystery. Poor Sophie. 😢

      We've had our Cavapoo for a little over a month and we always leave toys for him yet it doesn't help. He does fine at home alone when no one is there but if someone is home with him and we put him in his crate to do chores, he cries constantly

    oh poor girl. Nico has separation anxiety too. He usually cries in his crate for 10-15 minutes before settling down. It makes me feel so guilty :( I've been giving him time alone in his crate since I got him but I think doodles are just kind of prone to it. Looking forward to seeing what you try!

    • @NessaandSophie
      @NessaandSophie  Před rokem

      Oh poor Nico, I've done the same with Sophie with giving her alone time in her crate but I've been guilty in letting her stay out for crate instead as she got older but we've been working on that again.

    I’ve had my cavapoo since June. She sounds like my Cairo when I leave him. He hates his crate at night time. I’ve tried everything in terms of training. I need help in that regard. He’s my first pup

      @NessaandSophie  Před rokem

      I totally understand the frustration and sadness that comes with crate training and separation anxiety. The fact that you worry so much for him shows that you're trying to help him with that alone time.

  • @jajajens
    @jajajens Před 6 měsíci

    cover the crate on all sides except the front with a dark blanket if you are still experiencing anxiety :-). Dogs are den animals by nature and prefer a cave like environment. The licking of the crate is a stress behavior.

  • @aminawehrli2139

    i know its hard but it would help more if you just get home and ignore the dog for the first five minutes in the beginning, so that the dog think its nothing special if you get home.

  • @junior10199

    There’s no doubt that you love her. What about a bigger crate? So she can move around a bit more.

    • @NessaandSophie
      @NessaandSophie  Před rokem

      I actually bought her a bigger crate when we got here, but I found that she was a little off with it (she wouldn't go in to it which was unusual for her) so I had to go back to the size she was used. Go figure...

  • @ninjatrader3858

    Have you tried ignoring her for while when you come back and not making a BIG Deal that you left? Another hard thing to do, is not give hugs and kisses 24/7.

    • @NessaandSophie
      @NessaandSophie  Před rokem

      I think this is one of the biggest things you hear about when you search up how to handle separation anxiety and it's definitely one of the hardest (who wants to ignore all the love and kisses when you return home). I don't like making the "return" a big deal, I'll usually get myself all settled and then go get Sophie but the limit on hugs and kisses is our biggest struggle!

      Work is 8 hours of a day just because people have to work doesn’t mean they can’t care for things some people send their dogs to daycare some dogs are chill enough to sit home and not destroy anything while we work a dog is a child so what kind of logic is that

    The crate is horrible/ i don’t care if she is crate trained - you can purchase a bigger crate. I never crated my dog . I simply see it has cruel.

  • @lial216

    Can't you just not close her in a crate? That's horrible
