I’ve been in trucking most of my life and around trucks since I was knee high. The Autocars like the many that were operated by Colonial Sand & Stone of NYC were about the best and largest of the Autocars built. The story goes NYC had issues about the weight of those mixes because they claimed they would bend solid steel sewer covers on the streets. The Autocars was no nonsense equipment. I lived near Colonials Coney Island Plant. As a kid I would sit on the curb on Cropsey Ave in the summer and watch the many Colonials trucks go by. I still look at photos of the Colonial Autocars in magazines. I enjoy those photos very much.
Like heaven loved ole acars had 70 triaxle dump 240 Cummins but always loved my Detroit's started out operating hd 6 with Detroit have had 671 6v53 318s ty sir for the memories
For those wondering, the thumbnail Autocars are DS64s. They replaced the DK64. To my knowledge they only saw production between 1987 and 1988. Then in 1989 the DS64 were replaced by the ACL64.

I love the videos of the old trucks. But outta curiosity has anyone done videos on old Army trucks, such as the 800 series 5 ton trucks or the 900 series semi automatic CCC trucks?
The short hood Autocars are actually DS models. The DK’s are the regular length hoods. You could get the DS in fiberglass flip nose or steel butterfly hood style.
I'm guessing most went to the scrappers? Interesting window decal at the end, meanwhile everyone seems to hate unions, of course a lot are rotting from the inside out. Lots of juicy ideas for us truck model builders. The red tipper trucks have the old military '60s style rear suspensions. Kind of glad some are missing the rear wheels or you'd never see that. Details like these are very hard to come by.
I have a idea for the 6x6 autocar truck units put a water tank and hose reels and pump unit and with brush and wildland fire season in June just about ready to start up call in dr frankenstein to make the monster
My Dad had an Autocar set up for Heavy haul and I an International Transtar Cabover and flatbed trailer I pulled Steel out of J and L steels Aliquippa works and Dad had a lowboy and a step deck for Heavy equipment and Big Heavy special order steel from J and L steel in Aliquippa and Republic steels ln the Midland works I would love to build the Ol,man another
Love the old autocar trucks, such a beautiful and distinctive look about them

Cool trucks! That Rolling A hood ornament @ 7:46 is one of my favorites.
Autocars were everywhere back in the 1960's & 1970's. Now im happy when i see 1 thats still being used today

Thanks. Looking back I wish I had done more.
Great video, Eric. Your passion for these rigs is contagious!
You are too kind.
Man that Detroit powered 6x6 is too cool, have absolutely no use for it,but at that price I would have had to bid on it.

I have a older gull wing hood auto car a 65. And a bunch of old Mack’s. They will run forever
Like #30. Mint vidya. The first diesel I drove was a 72 Construcktor, w/a 318 Jade Grenade, 15spd, 20FA/48Rocks, 549'. Big Bertha.
Hope they went to good homes and not a scrapper
Too much has gone for scrap,,when SHTF,. everyone will be very vulnerable,,and would take long time ,skilled workers to build, units

@@RustyZipper you said it brother, I hope to save as many of these old girls as I can in my lifetime
I picture one of those HD ol girls with the dump box off and a 5th wheel installed for dragging low boys ✌️🇺🇸
Wow!!! Those could be restored
Beautiful oldies!
THANKS FOR PUTTING THE SOLD PRICE. NICE OLD TRUCKS.
That 66 Autocar DC model is fantastic with that 6-71 driptroit
I want that blue single axle Autocar to complete the set...
The holy grail!
That Autocar at 7:36 looks remarkably similar to #DieselCreek's own Autocar, only in blue.
I'm surprised the blue one went for as low as it did. That was probably the nicest out of all of em. I like the white one towards the end there.
That was a definite steal. Little crusty in the usual spots but solid otherwise.
Lime green cab International Dump looks like x-Rochester NY DPW.
Very cool

My Late Dad had a 1966 Autocar there are really great trucks
The only thing better than an old AutoCar is an old AutoCar with a DEEtroit
4:30. That had a auxiliary transmission in it ! 7:35 a FARR. Air filter cool old stuff
My uncle worked at auto car, when they were in Exton pa
GOD DAMNIT I FORGOT ALL ABOUT THAT AUCTION!
Had a 78 cabover Pete with no engine or trans. Ripe for a transplant. 😎
@@Dailydieseldose315 damnit I just brought home the perfect engine too
God, I wish I had the money. I'd be dragging everyone of them out 😂😂
Digging on that group of 87’s… the old cab with that fiberglass hood is somehow cool
DK Model. 1987 with 6-71 Detroits. Dinosaurs in their own times.

@Autocar87 ah, yes you are correct.
I prefer the round fender , is most pretty .

Probably. The two trucks that were complete went for double the price. They are probably on a boat as I type this.
Wish I could buy them all and have them sit in my yard safe and sound!

Sad that I missed this one - they went CHEAP. I would've bought them all.
Amazing how much people will pay for scrap metal.
I worked at a concrete pipe company they had a whole fleet of them those are rugged old trucks
Back in the days iron was iron not plastic
Hopefully none of them went to the exporters!
Gotta love the AutoCar. Detroits, not so much.
Over the Top anyone? 😊

Anyone spot a modern 2022 AutoCar out in the real world.
None up here in Maine.
They are supposed to resemble 7:28
Never have seen one. Not many dedicated dealers out there.
2 grand for those old work horses that's sad

you planning on upgrading audio equipment by chance? many videos, with great content, marred by wind noise..obscuring your narration..
Yes, I have a better camera with an external mic and windscreen. It's a bit cumbersome in these situations. It's hard to find that perfect setup.
