Great info Craig!! I bought these pipes because of you! On Saturday I put the same Sharkroads on my 22 Voyager. The baffles do come wrapped and there is an O2 sensor plug now. So to eliminate 90% of the decel popping I blocked the Pair Valve inlet inside the R/H air cleaner. The hole is at 11 o'clock in the housing. A guy from New Zealand told me about this.....Absolutely works great.

Sharkroad mufflers also have many models that fit Yamaha cruisers as well. I installed them on my 07 Yamaha Royal Star tour deluxe. I bought megaphones and put them on last year. I've been very happy with the and when I did it I decided to leave the baffles in. They are plenty loud with the baffles. Quality is good.

Funny you should say that Steve. When I was recording the vehicle obviously there is time between hearing the difference. After starting up the bike with the wrapped baffles I would have guessed it didnt sound any different. However, after doing the editing and video production I was able to hear a little difference. Sharkroad is working on a smaller diameter baffle that should quiet the bike even more and I may try it. I do some long days on the bike (sometimes upwards of 600 miles) and over the course of say 10 hours on the bike I might want it quieter.

The only difference between the wrapped and raw baffle that I could notice was that it removes the beating on the side of an empty steel drum echo. The sound quality is tighter and doesn't ring as much while maintaining the deep throaty character. I think that the packing also diminished the extent of the deceleration popping as well. I like the sound of the single wrap it has a great tone and if you didn't know what the bike was it could easily be mistaken for a Twin-Cam under acceleration and a Freedom Twin when idling. For the price-point I do not think you could beat them; the true test will be how they hold up over the long-term. Thanks for sharing; keep the shiny side up and enjoy.

Great video. I liked the wrapped baffle sound the most, it seemed to have a little deeper of a sound. I have a 2018 Vaquero 1700 with Cobra slip-ons and the sound was really good and after I had the ecu ivanized the sound of the exhaust changed to a little higher pitch sound, not bad, just different. P.S. Ivanizing your ecu is worth every penny. From what I have read in the comments you have being ivanized and I'm wondering, did you notice a sound difference and have you thought about doing a video to compare. I liked the comment on how people make it look so easy to do a youtube video, I did one for my bike and can see that I have to learn how to hold a camera, but I posted it anyways. Ride safe, enjoy.

Angel, The Ivan flash is one of the most popular enhancements you can do to your bike. The stock ECU tune has lots of issues that Ivan corrects. You will find the throttle transitions improve, more power and bike will run cooler. The cooling fan comes on sooner and he electronically closes the AIS valve so you wont get popping/backfiring especially noticeable with aftermarket mufflers on decelleration.

Chris, yes all the Kawasaki mufflers from sharkroad come wrapped now. I think your gonna really like the sound. Be mindful that regardless of the aftermarket slip on you purchase you will want to have the Ivan Tune done to your ECU. Not only does the Ivan tune resolve so many fueling issues, the cooling fans turn on sooner than stock to help keep the bike cooler and best of all the Kawasaki fresh air induction is disabled so no popping/backfiring on deceleration.

AZDD, I dont have the Vaquero any longer. About to pick up a BMW K1600GTL. I felt the best setup was the Sharkroads with the supplied baffles wrapped with fiberglass matting to sound the best coupled with the Ivan ECU flash. ANY aftermarket muffler will exhibit popping on deceleration due to the fresh air induction emission system. The Ivan tune resolves that and a host of other Kawasaki issues....I never listened to the on-board radio as I always use my Cardo Packtalk JBL headset when riding and listening to music. At speed and when on the gas I imagine the stock radio speakers in the fairing will be ineffective. Hope this helped.

If you don't want to Ivanize your ECU, the next thing you can do is block off your pair valve. What's happening is fresh air is being introduced into the exhaust port to burn and unspent fuel. This is an emissions reduction approach many motorcycle companies employ. Gooogle "Marbelizing" your Kawasaki 1700 and you'll find many conversations on this.

    • @craiggoldstein2461

Basically the baffle is a steel tube with perforations on it. to quiet or mellow the sound you can take a fiberglass matting material and wrap the baffle and it is quite effective in mellowing the sound.

Hi Andrew, I just looked at Kawasaki OEM part numbers to compare the Nomad exhaust PNs with Vaquero PNs....The exhausts are the same therefore the Sharkroad Vaquero/Voyager Mufflers will fit your Nomad as well. Visit sharkroad.com/products/kawasak-vaqueroi-mufflers and be sure to use Promo code SHARK10 for 10% off. These are slip-ons so ordinary hand tools will suffice and if you have basic mechanical skills shouldn't take more than an hour to install both sides.
