Just be aware that I get hundreds of emails every week and I can't promise that I'll show what you send in. - Hry
What's funny about this is the fact it was my 1st ever match in F. Sherman, which is why at the beginning you see me checking out ship close-up, guns, torps, angles etc.
Also I didn't yet know how good SAP is which is why I spent early game shooting HE.
This thing truly is a little monster.
Thanks old man, for showing this match and enriching it with your commentary
Your reaction to Halsey activating was priceless btw
Saw the game on your channel before this one and the rate of fire change as you got the Confederate was an epic moment.
I knew i saw this battle before. “MontanaPrincess” got me so confused though😂
NICE.
That was fun
- WG introduces missiles
- community rages, but WG insists they're a fine addition to the game
- community uses missiles to snipe CVs at the start of the battle
- WG removes missiles saying they were.... too popular
As a CV player... I support this.
Nah, the missiles just get nerf’d and CVs with CIWS are introduced
@@lucashenry6281 I would SO NOT be surprised if that would be the case...
Wait, hang on... You might be onto something
Sounds plausible
so funny when jingles refers to flambas only as montanaprincess XD
I thought I'd seen this one before.
he probably doesnt actually know its flambass given how often he changes his name
He revealed it's Flambass at the end.
@@j_taylor well i know that now XD
I knew I saw this somewhere
How cool!. I served on a Forest Sherman, the USS Morton DD 948. The 5" 54 cal guns were quite fast, close to 40 rpm. They had dual loaders that fed from the left then the right. This was simplified to one loader that fed from the left side only on later class ships built in the sixties, but the FS DDs kept the feature. Also had 2 3" 50 cal twin mounts, a Hedgehog launcher forward and 2 sets of torpedo tubes. We did 33 1/2 knots on a high speed run, but it shook rather noticibly at that speed. How fun to have one in game
It is cool, World of Warships had an Anchors Away tour in 2019 on a Forrest Sherman class DD 951 Turner Joy Museum Ship here in Bremerton Washington . Was reading most FS ships were converted in the 60's except Turner Joy & one other , They were the last DD gunboats that the US had and had saw action in Vietnam & was actually hit by ground artillery....& yes , even on the real ship thought the torpedoes were setup Uniquely . Never served but was born and raised on US Naval bases and my Dad was a 22 year navy BT on Gearing class dd & others.
@@Fendermender49 The conversion consisted of removing Mount 52 and replacing it with an Asroc launcher which gave them a nuclear capability. The 3 in guns and the hedgehog were removed. The torpedo tubes were replaced by trainable triple tube launcers for the smaller Mk 46 torpedo. A very large sonar dome was added in the bow. The depth charge racks on the fantail were replaced by a Variable Depth Sonar and a towed array. There were a few that were converted to DDGs by removing Mount 53 and adding a single Tarter AAW launcher. These did not get the VDS or Sonar upgrades.
The strange torpedo tube arrangement is historically accurate for the class as built. The fixed tubes were used with homing torpedoes, which are not on the ship in-game.
WG Idea Generation Department here. Thank you for your valuable input.
Imagine if this ship got the the homing ping mechanic of submarines.
Which is an omission that needs to be addressed. If you aren't going to be accurate, why bother? Oh, wait, IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY!
What people calling for those torpedoes to have active homing capabilities haven't realised is that those are light weight ASW torpedoes.
@@fernandomarques5166 So you're telling me we could then use these to torpedo submarines?
If yes... what ISN'T there to love?
I still chuckle at Flambass' new moniker. He polled his Twitch subscribers for what name he should change his account to and, given his professed dislike of the Montana, the overwhelming winner was "MontanaPrincess" His Twitch subscribers have an interesting sense of humor. 😄
The weird thing is that ages ago, Montana was his preferred Tier X BB. Even played it in Clan Battles. A patch or two or three later and it was if his Montana was cursed. His high game in Montana was ~310K damage, 4325XP. His frustration at not being able to figure out what had changed, and how to get his Montana mojo back was palpable.
He does this periodically to try to keep people from figuring out that it is him so he can actually get to enjoy some battles without everyone shrieking, "IT'S FLAMBASS!" Also, it lets him sneak up on unsuspecting "unicorns."
Never ask the internet for name suggestions..... Ever.......
The funnier thing is the guy that suggested MontanaPrincess has even more messed up names that get under Flambass’ skin lmao
I guess BoatyMcBoatface was already taken...
The moment the match ended before he could even kill the last ship, it made me realize this replay was the same one as Flambass 😂
Well, MontanaPrincess is Flambass :)
@@StrikerWolf91 i wasnt paying attention to his ign during his vid lol
@@StrikerWolf91 I want to know the story behind the name... :)

I love that you can hear Jingles rubbing his hands together with glee at 6:40.
Not his hands he was rubbing
12:30 Yes, that is really happening, I was watching this "live"(I watched Flambass's clip from his livestream on his channel). The guns are firing every roughly 0.8 seconds consistently. For some perspective of how much DPM this ship can put out, that's 225 shells per minute.
MOAR DAKKA!
i think you can go to 0.7 with lower hp. seems balanced
Fun fact, we were discussing that on Flambasses video and some ex german navy gunner commented that, in theory, his 76mm gun was able to fire at 85 rounds per minute...
@@blazwinkler108 Thats pretty impressive actully.
yea this is the perfect damage farmer, with its smoke hydro, nightmare for BBs and heavycruisers lol
The title should have been "Gun, Forrest, Gun!"

this comment needs thousands of likes. :D :D :D
That moment you heard "sailed by Montana princess" and knew..the sly grin grew lmao 🤣
They need to add the USS Hull to the game with it's single 8 in gun for the memes of course
I think making the Hull with 3 8 inch guns will be a pretty cool idea for a steel ship or something. It’ll need something like a radar or heal to compare to Sherman
Wasn't there like an experimental IJN Destroyer where they were building it to have one single 18 or 20 inch gun on it? I heard a story on it a few years back and I am too lazy to find out if that was legit. Would be a meme though, little tiny bote with BIG GUN.
@@BPKPhoenix I think you are talking about the Soviet destroyer Engles, fitted with a 305mm recoilless gun
@@onecertainordinarymagician and then there was the germans of all people attempting to slap 14 inch recoilless rifles under ju288's to take out ships with
Despite of "fun" aspect of 8in guns, the reload on these guns is terribly slow (like 12 rpm). WG can make them work with super accuracy, range and dmg per shell, but i think it will be
frustrating at close range.
Fresh out of production! Love it when it's still warm!
i know right? hot off the press is the best
if only this one wasn't prerecorded due to the move
i so want this ship. It's a US Charles F Adames class destroyer, first built in the 1960s. I served on one in the Royal Australian Navy up until just before decomm in 2000. Fantastic ship, but instead of a third turret, we had the Standard SM1 missile. 33.9 kts is BS, HMAS Hobart topped out at 36.9 on her last day at sea, at nearly 40 years old.
WG marketing, WG profitability & reality. Choose any two. I quit playing around the time a 1950's paper ship equipped with a fictitious gunmount, and improbable reload mechanism that should have jammed and/or suffered a turret explosion in game was introduced., around the same time as a late 30's DD was introduced at the same tier. All in the name of balans. Pains me because the art department is fantastic and some of the players are great to watch.
Jacksonville, Florida tried really hard to get the Adams as a museum ship. Failed. We got a Gearing class instead.
I hear you. I served on USS John King DDG-3 in the early 80s...
No the Sherman was the lead of its own class.
Thank you Jingles for taking care of us during your moving, I hope everything goes smooth and as planned :)
I think the friendly Lightning deserves a shout out; T10 matches can be pretty rough for T8 ships, even one as good as the Lightning but did a pretty good job owning the outside flank, spotting for team-mates and getting a kill.
868 shells fired between the three guns surely fictional ammunition capacity right? Nope the Forrest Sherman carried 450-500 rounds per gun so even with it's insane rate of fire it really can fire that many shells.
the fictional part is those 1500 shells, each containing 3.5kgs of TNT equivalent explosive D, dont count as a citadel. also a ship would carry many kinds of shells for different purposes. generally the majority of the shells ww2 destroyer carried were AA shells, rather than the special common anti-ship shells. firing 900 anti-ship shells is definitely fictional. An AA shell could be used against a ship, but it was certainly not preferred.
Actually the three magazines were not the same size. The 2 after magazines were 600 and 800 rounds each and the forward mag was 950. The only limitation was the drums in the mag that had to be manually fed with a shell and a powder can. Fatigue woud eventually slow things down
@@mojorasin653 Damn that's a lot of shells, though not to surprising for a ship larger than a Gearing and how many shells that carried per gun.
Hello Jingles! Just wanted to say thank you for bringing a smile to my face during these trying days. I have been rewatching some of your older content to be specific, the Farcry 6 series. I found the "Revolution" jokes hilarious. Thank you Marcus from Sweden.
PS. Love seeing the Swedish destroyers especially the Halland, since I was born in that county!
On the bright side, the Series on the Communist Revolutionary Simulator 6 is not over yet. More to come ;)
@@chaosengine4597 Yup 😊
Shocking how the Midway threw the match.
One of the most relevant damage dealers at Tier 10, and he moves into gun range from a flank while the enemies move into said flank.
@@ursamajor7468 isn't the speed of planes at that tier allowing a more cautious deployment?
I get the aggressive deployment on low tier, with German and soviet cv. But American and Japanese cv don't need to be parked in the danger zone
Holy hell i didn’t know that ships could do an impression of the A10 Warthog.
I had a chance to visit the F. Sherman class USS Turner Joy in Seattle, WS and I loved it so I'm really excited to see a ship of that class in the game
That destroyer captain displayed phenomenal situational awareness and positioning.
hes one of the best players youll find in this game, his streamer name is flambass
The reload perks are even more worth on ships like this, because you do get the % Boost right away, while on a BB it doesnt matter that much, where you are looking more likely for the perfect salvo and not "DPM" damage.
I like it!
Thanks for sharing Paul,
Cheers
O.O Am shocked to see a vid drop today with Jingles moving.. Ya a birthday treat for me :D
The next thing you’ll know, HMS Erebus will a tier 6 premium.
If you're talking monitors don't forget Lord Clive with its 18" gun.
Azur lane gimmick
When world of warships becomes a bullet hell
Good call. Two 15” guns, 14 knot top speed, poor mobility, weak armour and 36km gun range….basically arty for WoW. Only 7000 tons though, similar to the Leander, which makes it a light cruiser at T6 apparently.
@@probablyuranuim6353 I wish I didn't play that game...
Should point out that two of the ships in this class still exist in the US and both are museums. USS Edson and USS Turner Joy
I was waiting for the moment that Jingles was gonna say FLAMBASS. The King of The Gnomes does not disappoint!
Judging by the direction this game is heading, missiles wouldn't really be surprising tbh
The Mk.42 gun mount of the Forrest Sherman (and several other post-War U.S. ships) was highly automated and had twice the rate of fire of a single 5-inch 38-cal DP gun mount as found on the Fletcher class. This means the three single mounts on the Forrest Sherman have the same rate of fire as the three twin 5-inch 38-cal mounts on the Gearing. Moreover, these were the first U.S. destroyers to carry a 5-inch 51-cal dual purpose gun, which had significantly more hitting power than the 5-inch 38-cal. However, for various reasons, the 5-inch 38-cal was the better anti-aircraft gun, the 5-inch 51-cal being much better against surface targets, especially when firing SAP. Secondary armament consisted of two twin 3-inch 50-cal. gun mounts, each with its own radar fire control director. The twin 3-inch 50-cal was a one-for-one replacement for the quad 40mm Bofors, which was considered too light to deal with the Kamikaze threat and stand-off guided missiles.
The torpedo tubes were retained because, well, destroyers are supposed to have torpedoes. These were fixed 21-inch tubes that were supposed to carry a wire-guided homing torpedo that never made it out of the lab. Eventually, these tubes were beached and replaced by two tripe 13-inch Mk.32 torpedo tubes for the Mk.46 lightweight ASW homing torpedo. The Forrest Sherman also carried a Mk.11 Hedgehog forward-firing ASW mortar, which seems to have been overlooked. Many later carried an 8-round ASROC launcher in place of the midships 5-inch gun.
If War Games really wants to get funky, one Forrest Sherman had its forward 5-inch mount replaced by a single Mk.71, automatic 8-inch 55-cal "Major Caliber Lightweight Gun". This is essentially the same gun carried by the Des Moines, and was developed as a potential naval gunfire support weapon after the retirement of the last U.S. heavy cruisers.
It should also be noted that four Forrest Shermans were converted to guided missile destroyers (DDGs), with a Tatar surface-to-air missile launcher in place of the No.2 gun.
Until 2015, one ship in the class, the USS Barry (DD 933) was berthed as a museum ship at the Washington Navy Yard. When the District of Columbia decided to replace an existing moveable bridge with a fixed bridge below the Navy Yard (which would have made it impossible to get the ship into a dry dock), the Barry was unceremoniously sold and scrapped.
I like how the guns going off at full rate sounds kinda like the stomping sound from Queens, "We Will Rock You".
your videos makes me coming back to this game :)
I laugh a little when Jingles talk about a ship having so many handicaps and short comings. And then the person driving the ship and playing the match seems to make the best of a bad ship, and they kick some serious tush!!
Thank you jingles, I love you dearly
For all of you who is interested why so many unnatural movements of camera around and ship wiggling, this was Flambasses first game in this ship. And if you will watch the original video, you will definitely find out why. Do it, it is a great fun :D

Hey! I've seen this one before! Classic!
I cant wait to get this ship honestly. seems hella fun
Jesus, at ~12:40 the SAP rounds went BRRRRRRRRRRT. I’ve never seen health EVAPORATE like that except for being in a paper citadel Omaha broadside to an AP loaded battleship!
looked like a anti aircraft gun when his reload time went down to 2 seconds and he chewed them up big time and killed most of the enemy team alone that was a awesome battle to watch
down to 1 sec, not 2 sec 😁
Flambass doin'it again.
Jingles, regarding the Zieten, you always say, that chick's dig scars and glory last forever. That's certainly what the Zieten was thinking of.
The Migthy Jingles

The rate of fire with the Bull Halsey skill is absolutely shocking!

I love the little cat ears on the turrets
I’ve actually visited her sister ship the USS Edson docked in Bay City in my home state of Michigan!
I decommissioned one of those DD-950 Richard S Edward in 1982 as part of the last crew
Jingles, if you ever get across the pond, and find yourself in Washington State, you can visit the U.S.S. Turner Joy.
She's the only surviving Forrest Sherman Class DD in the world. She's a museum located in Bremerton WA.

DD-951 USS Turner Joy is not the last surviving Forrest Sherman. DD-946 USS Edson is a museum up at the Saginaw Valley Naval Ship Museum in Michigan.
@@MrZcar350 Cool, I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
happy moving in day Jingles !
a note on the reload "feature" any reduction, that would be more than 1/7th a second is worth it, technically any reduction that moves over the X/7 breakpoint is worth it.
Fun fact, my great grandfather served in the US Navy on a Forrest Sherman class destroyer christened the USS Bigelow
Its a fantastic DD in my opinion and fun ! have not had this much fun sitting down in ages...
Nice to see Fambass still in the game - And on anther scale all the best with move ,have done five and only had little damage .
Hope you are doing well in your new house, Jingles!
Flambass just showing off ;P
must be nice to be able to allot so much time to learn specs of ships. sadly, i have to work for a living. this is why i went to coop. but now even that is crap. haven't played in a while, but still enjoy jingles commentary. for the most part.
You failed to notice most pequliar thing in WoWs, which speaks volumes. The damage of the torpedo launchers. He got 2 busted, 2 out of opposite sides when they tubes lie side by side. And thats done by one salvo... Wargaming has a fairy to determine the damage, not even RNG
I love Akazuki saying "really"? at the beginning.
Love the video. I submitted one of mine and I love that you never know if it's gonna be your replay featured next. So exciting.
I've just recently started playing and still suck so I tend to stay in co-op so as not to cause the " Death by 1000 Potatoes" to my team that I often see on this channel. Saying that I am hoping to one day be able to send in one myself. Hope you get yours shown soon! Good luck!
@@schroedingerscat2.054 Coop only re-inforces bad habits. Yolo-ing, rushing, thinking players have dodgy prioritization like bots have. Zero incentive to get map control, to spot or to defend, only to get your shots out and take no damage in return. A lot of the bad play you see nowaday is coop infused play.
Coop is however useful to get a feel for a ships maneuverability and allows you to experiment with crazy shit, and as such does help raising familiarity with the ship itself, but it won't teach you the skills needed to do good in randoms.
@@schroedingerscat2.054 the fact that you know it might be a bit rough at first is already a huge step. Its a game, no one really cares so just go for it! :)

Another good video.
That reload ability definitely kicked in cause his reload dropped to 0.7 seconds 😆 🤣
Believe it or not, the gun mounts on the F. Sherman were rated for 40 rounds per minute, which works out to a reload of 1.5 seconds, so the Sherman is actually modeled pretty accurately according to historical standards, at least as far as the RoF goes.
The reload booster definitely triggered, it went from 1, 2, 3, pause, 1, 2, 3, pause to a more steady 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8....

2 mins into the vid, "wait...I remember this video." Saw it a few days ago on Flambass channel
This ship is a PITA... WG coded missiles ages ago but said they wouldn't introduce them because they weren't in the spirit of the game.. expect we'll see them next patch then :-)! Don't think you were right about the Zieten - he was still behind the island when he was spotted so it was the Lightning that had spotted him, he was going to die anyway... By the way jingles you really should have another look at Elite Dangerous odyssey, despite all the press once you work out the various things to do it's fun.
Jingles: "...and I do hesitate to use the missiles, because I don't want to give Wargaming any ideas..." Wargaming: "Write that down. WRITE THAT DOWN!!!"
The Flint and the Atlanta so bemoaned their fate that they would never see top tier battles that they went and made a child, the young and impressionable Forrest Sherman. And while they would never be able to truly see what their child could do, they took comfort in the fact that his Uncle Bull Halsey would be able to guide their son from a child and make him a man. And lo and behold, the wailing of his enemies abounded across the seas into their ears, and they could hear their beloved child's laughter as his uncle cried, "MORE DAKKA!"
Thought this match look familiar Flambass going quack quack quackin was pretty funny
I was stationed on the Arleigh Burke of the same namesake...DDG 98.
Ah yes, the Mk 42 5"/54 gun. Autoloading with two 20-rd loading drums. Up to 40 rounds/min.
I got her last week... 10 battles 4 victories 40% highest score so far 52,000. Definitely a hard ship to play. The 3 torp hits I got were because of fire and forget and hope they stay sailing straight and run into them. Its true you feel like youre sail in mud the ship is so sluggish. They really should give her the homing torps like in real life.
Thanks Jingles. Hope your move goes well.

It's a shame WG didn't keep this in mind for poor old HMS Tiger...
Jingles...thought you are packing and moving. Appreciate the video. cheers
The artist formerly known as Flambass
honestly anti ship missiles wouldn't surprise me, but the only upside is they wouldn't be really OP considering BBs and the such still have armor to thick for them to Pen they're designed to damage the lightly armored hulls of modern ships not the super thick armor of WW2 BBs and cruisers
Scooby-Doo reveal moment right at the end :D
I am not a great player, 2-3 kills a game and 75% of the time I am still alive at the end of the game, and about 90% of the time I am on the winning team.
But if I had the Coal I would buy this ship. Machine gunning 5" shells like that 1 every 30 seconds.

Happy Moving Day. Everyone watch the adds today Jingles needs the money.
ALL tier 10 ships SHOULD have a high skill level requirement.
I had forgotten that he had been coerced into changing his name to MontanaPrincess even after he begged to have a different one for several minutes (That on its own was worth the admission price).... still insane guns
My son has the F Sherman, he is good and makes others stand up and take notice.
LMAO! I commented on His vid to send this to you! It's worth it!
So the Forrest Sherman is the Destroyer version of a Worcester. Sit behind an island, spam a dickload of small shells and shoot down planes.
Even before the commander skill activated the rate of fire was about equal to the OTO Melara 127/64 Lightweight Naval Gun Mount, wich was designend in 2005. With the skill active it surpases its rate of fire. Plus it can fire for longer because in WoWs you are not limited by your ammo supply running low. These Guns are ridiculous.
F. Sherman is totally OP. I had one completely farm my Tallinn to death by standing off at max range, jinking forward and backward so that I could not hit him, and firing SAP continuously.
