As stupid as it may sound, I always drop my depthcharge planes during engagements with DDs in the hopes that I scare the captain into thinking that these are actually planes that will do damage to him and force him to turn. Works maybe 1 out of 10 times but that’s enough for me to keep doing it.
I do same. It costs me nothing and may help. Send in the clowns.
17:26 In my case, battleship guns reload slowly, so they need to spend 30 seconds while doing literally nothing. I need to do something so that I can stay awake until the gun reloads. Besides, if sending the depth charge bombers can make DD captains scared by the tiniest bit thinking if that's from swamp german cruisers, that's more than I could wish for.

That’s why I love my Alabama. Great turret traverse, quick reload times, and she’s fast. I just wish she had a little better armor, but you can’t have everything.
I sometimes the depth charge consumable only for the sake of it too... and i discovered that if a charge hit land or a friendly ship it actually explode on impact :P (at least the ship launched ones, not sure about the ones that are dropped by plane)

14:35 He Tried, Jingles! While you were goin on about whodunnit, a salvo of AP shells from the Nagato's direction pulled the classic "everywhere BUT on target" act and made a very noticeable splash around the Fuso!
I get that with every salvo from every battleship I sail, in every single game. It's enough to make me want to stop bothering with battleships entirely. Even my carrier's bombers do that, dropping their bombs in a big ring around the target, even if I have the drop reticle ENTIRELY on the target ship (it will drop the bombs outside the reticle). Meanwhile, the AI bombs will actually curve in the air so they ALL hit, every time. But, that's coop.
@@STNeish Yeah, the "half the shells landing short, half overshooting" thing was infuriating.
There were at least two salvos while Jingles was going on about the Nagato not finishing him off. So the Nagato got one really good salvo and then two whiffs so he couldn't finish him off. Classic BB gameplay.
@@f0rth3l0v30fchr15t The other thing lately is that when you DO get a hit, 99% of them are overpenetrations. I even hit a battleship BOW ON with a salvo and overpenned. Guess it ran the entire length of the ship and somehow missed EVERYTHING.
Japanese accuracy for you. The Nagato and Fuso both do that I hate it. Line up the shot all miss. Line up the 2nd shot The Exact same way and I connect with the entire salvo. Like wtf.
Dropping depth charge planes on a DD has one reason; it's a diversion. Works better if there is a CV in play, but it might buy you a few seconds.
same with launching deep water torps against DDs.

Funny how I haven't played this game in 2 years, yet I still watch every Jingles WoWs video with eager giddiness.
Sometimes if there are no subs in the game I just launch the anti sub planes because it's atleast something I can do. Just a Hail Mary while I wait to reload, run or sink, depending on circumstance.
I was amazed, not only did the danged depth charges land on target they did manage to take hit points from the dd I sent them at, once.
followed by a teammates and my main guns hitting it seconds later.
Smoke timer counts down from 25s (and 10s linger)...Jingles: "This smoke lasts 50s" .....never change oh overlord. sadly not Paolo smoke.
Jingleisms this game (and what they really are):
The Aviere only has a 6.9km firing range (Its base range is 8.3 extented to 8.9 if you get a kill with Sansonetti as your captain)
The Nagato was oblivious to the low health Fuso he bitchslapped a minute before (He was not, both his following salvos were aimed at the Fuso, but both missed. The tracers and shell splashes were quite obvious)
Sidenote: Ita DD SAP is fine against BB, just not against something like a Pyotr Velikiy whose superstructure is nigh nonexistent. Its upper belt also includes the first level of the "superstructure" and is as such impenetrable by SAP. Only its funnel and the bridge are places SAP can pen. Most other BB have plenty of superstructure and less armoured bows to farm for SAP dmg, like you could see with the Fuso, whose entire pagoda is free real estate for SAP.
I was just checking the Fuso/Nagato timings myself. 13:15 we see shots about to land. 13:52 we see it again at low health and then at 14:15 we see a salvo just missing it. :)
also the confusion for the double torp from the flint can easily be explained away that the others simply weren't spotted

BUT, with the Captain skill, it goes to 8.3km. And extends to 8.9km w/ Sansonetti.

Also, the Nagato was firing at that Fuso as you were talking about it, it was just missing.
You really need to give his team more credit for the damage they inflected vs their kill count.
Damage doesn't mean shit as an enemy on 1hp can still cap and kill enemy ships.

I'm italian. Your pronunciation of "Aviere" is absolutely perfect. And, just for the record, "Aviere" means "airman", which is a pretty strange name for a ship.

Soldati-Class Destroyer, every ship is named after a military profession, Aviere, Geniere, Carabiniere and so on.
That's why I love Jingles as my Brit cruiser captain. He's always drunk so never identifies anything correctly, but unless you watched his vids, you'd never get what that's about.

Really hoping they don't follow through with the stun mechanic on the new support carriers. I could get behind a squadron that drops fire retardant on friendly ships to put out fires and decrease fire start chances on that ship for x amount of time.

I have been having "so much fun in my BB" this days, yestarday 27/03, i played my tier 6 BB just trying to get a win for the daily bonus, was on a russian and german BB played 5 games lost all, got torp in all of them but in 4 of them got killed by the torps, where 2 of them where from subs, fuck this shit, i rage quit after that and give up, so much torps from everywhere you cant do nothing if not snipe at the back of the map, from DD, Cv and Subs i got realy tired of getting torpedo over and over.
To answer your question Jingles as someone who always uses the airstrike consumable when the main guns are on reload in battleships. Sometimes I use it to attract the aa fire of DD's in their smoke so I can turn "blind fire" into smoke into "educated guess" levels of accuracy with main gun fire into smoke. However what that battleship was doing I can't really tell you either. Maybe he just used it as something to entertain himself whilst his guns reloaded like you guessed. Regarding the Depth Charge aircraft, Jingles. Some people actually use them on surface ships expecting them to do damage... I've had a couple of people complain in chat when they dropped them on my ships and got no damage... Oh well, can't stop people from sniffing glue XD

Irrelevant but seeing this video: there is a serious lack of understanding in Random battles (the one's I do because no close friends are in this game since Lost Ark :P ). People go for "scores" not "objectives", miserably failing and driving to a loss the rest too. Simple ex. hunting while baited for a kill, not staying safe on low health in a close point match, etc. And you know how I know they are bad? When I try to communicate with my team they always answer "Stop whining with your 46% WR" and I always answer "Yes, thanks to you". How easy people think of WoWS as another platform arcade that you need to set a high score no matter what. Excuse my rant but barely anyone listens. Thanks for the video, I learned so much watching them!
Another thing: this DDs could be upgraded with captain skills and modules to favorite some traits of these ships. I tried to boost my torps in the Maestrale, Tier V, and speed and reloading time became amazing. Dropping torps of 8 km every 30 seconds at 55 knots.

I love this match, it was the reason I fell in love with the Italian line. I started playing WOWS this weekend and leveled up to the Maestrale in a day and a half
I got ahold of 'Jingle's' 'Request for Permanent Retirement' and misdirected it so 4, 5 more generations get to enjoy this most enjoyable humor the same as we do now. LOLOLOLOLOLOL.
I'm one of the people that watch your videos that don't play WoT or WoWS. I did give WoWS a go but the way the game played, as you and many others have expressed, is contradictory to fun most of the time. I gave up pretty quickly but I always come back to watch your videos. Your narration and insights are entertaining and very funny.
low tier and co-op battles. you get to fight bots only and the main problems players complain about hit high tiers and in pvp battles.
To be fair, I was fully expecting him - while he was running for C around 18:00 in the video, it wouldn´t hurt absolutely anyone to just shoot and reset Pyotr Veliky and use his speed+smoke to delay the cap as much as he can, while he would still be able to cap C comfortably and that Pyotr would have a hard time chasing him due to reseting of his timer.
I thought for sure he was going to say this was a ranked battle aftet the last couple "small team games on NA".

Just think about the inevitable "successful" trials and follow intorduction of the new and "exciting" stun mechanic. You'll come to your senses.
Can't wait for the day where they're forced to allow carriers to make up 3/4 of the team, because no one wants to play actual ships
the depth charge aircraft are useful in that most of the time it gets DDs who haven't turned off their AA to reveal themselves via their AA fire. It has helped me to avoid DDs hiding in smoke around corners many times!

The troll shots against the Yorck are definitely something that I would do.
When I'm in a destroyer, after launching long distance torpedo runs, I will most often "troll" the enemy ship into turning into my torpedoes. It works sometimes.
I'm one of those surprising number of people who watch these videos who doesn't play the game... Because these videos are great!

The reason BB players launch depth charge bombers even when not using it too see if someone in around is mostly because of how useless it is, at least in my server (north American). So I launch them for the enemy players to farm air damage and I assume everyone else did too.
Played a bit yesterday and let me tell you, depth charges can actually land on the deck and do damage. It's not much and not very easy, but if it were to hit a damaged destroyer you could kill him
Also it's something to do while you wait for your guns to reload.
I was holding my breath there for a minute.
As a battleship player i can say that the airstrike isn't meant to do anything, it's about sending a message. And when someone does get scared of said planes then it's even better

In WWII the Italian torpedoes were the fastest in the world. Japan had a couple delivered and copied the nose shape for the F3 50kn version of the Long Lance.

at 20 minute mark, there is a really big reason why he shot first and then used smoke. He was baiting the enemy to shoot so he could spot the enemy through smoke firing penalty, cos yes it affects enemies too even if only you are in the smoke.
I'd call that a sort of No Guts No Glory, slap in the face moment there!!! Well done!

You had to know that he was going to get those last cheeky shots in, when he targeted the ship and shook the reticle back and forth, then 30 seconds later retargeted the ship.

I haven't gotten around to trying the destroyer I have unlocked because I have been busy grinding the Clash of Courage event, but these Italian destroyers look just like my cup of tea, fast, maneuverable and one that works for an aggressive playstyle.
Your pronunciation of Aviere (meaning Airman , by the way) was spot on.
As Jeremy Clarkson once said „mmmany poos SHOT out of my ani“ when that BB shot at his smoke screen at the end.
Yolo Emilio is historically accurate, Italian Destroyer captains in WW2 were reknown for charging straight at the British against all odds
Had a blast with the t5 italian DD. The smoke let's you stroll right past CA and DD screening ships to get to the big boys.
I think the reason we only see 2 flint torpedoes is that we just didn't get close enough to spot the other two.
My best guess for the use of the depth charge bombers is that the BB captain hopes to induce panic in the DD/hope they don't know the charges can't hurt them.
The Flint didn't necessarily waste it's smokescreen. It was around longer than the ship, and could have been used by a teammate to some good.
Often it will do the enemy team more good than your own if placed carelessly but sometimes that's true.

the gun rage in 8,9, not 6,9 km :D and the fint torpedoes have 2 possibilities, he only spotted 2 of 4 because of range or the flint exploded just as he was lanuching and only managed 2.

RE: the depth charge planes:
It can "freak" nervous players out and force them to manuever out of the airstrike and thus either present a better target, or disengage and buy time.
Skilled players will obviously ignore this, but how many of those do you get per game ?
I quit the game before these planes (and subs themselves) were introduced, so if I were to hop back into a game, they'd probably freak me out, too.

about those ASW planes... I am convinced, that ppl still believe they can hurt surface ships. If I launch a few just for the fun of it and to try to wash some decks, ppl always maneuver to dodge
Took the Turbine out last night, Tier IV Italian DD and got a kracken. Sure the torps and guns have no range but in the right circumstances you can practically teleport within Yolo range and sink anything with a full torp salvo.... plus the SAP works lovely against other DD's

You should never question the motives of a tier 6 player. I got this game 4 days ago and I have a tier 6 ship, only learned today that you can focus your AA on a sector and turn it off

If you play with another DD as intended to be a tag team, then you can use your smoke in an aggressive mode.
And of course you can use it as well against BBs. At tier 5 and 6 BBs, except for Kongo, are slow af.
So if you combine these two elements of smoke and engine boost, you can arrive just in front of an enemy BB and drop your torps at close range without being spotted.
It's kinda inevitable. BBs can not avoid it without direct support from cruisers and other DDs.
So this "Yolo practice" it's reserved only when there's only BBs around.
But generally, this new Italian DDs are pretty good despite they are pretty bad on paper.
If players start to pley them in teams, then they will become a serious treat for whatever ships there's on their route.
The SAP works on bbs with the exception of some t4-5s as they have the stupid thick upper belt and nose armour that can

New italian destroyers are very fun, but not easy to play. They are not so much yolo as yolo Emilio but they are fun and played correctly are great. Also jingles he has 8.9 range no 6.9

You clearly missed his first volley (in shot) before you rambled on about the Nagato's reload. Granted, he MISSED both volleys, but thats BB life for ya. More importantly, when was Clint Eastwood in Grand TORISMO???? I never new a racing game had clint eastwood telling people to get off his lawn...I always thought it was Gran Torino! the aircraft is pure psychlogical warfare. a lot of WoWShips players are stress trained to "just dodge" any aircraft coming in.
Also it has the same icon as Strike craft from Dutch cruisers, that is not helping at all

Thanks to Wargamings TREMENDOUS Efforts, there are more than enough players that actually fall for the Depth charge Airstrike and maneovre to avoid, that can actually cost them the upper hand in a duel with another DD.
I have legit been saved by a BB doing that.
Wargaming wanted ignorant players, and they sure got what they wanted.
Jingles, never underestimate the value of teammates, they give the enemy something else to shoot at.
