CRT repair is a hot market to be in. Still many people giving away thier CRTs for free. If you take the time to learn electronics and soldering, you can repair them. Then some people will give you hundreds for them. People should never throw them away because there is always somebody that wants them. History needs to be preserved, as it's unlikely these will be produced again.
I got one from 2000 quite a while ago. I’ve been loving it with all my older consoles, there really is no comparison for retro consoles. I’ve tried all the upscalers and whatnot it just isn’t the same.
@@realamericannegro977 Especially for home computers I promote LCD TV's. As the flicker will make you crazy when typing BASIC and such. They are so versatile and cheap. Full HD 32 inch Bravia with 3x RGB SCART, composite, component, 3x HDMI, VGA, multi-region with 24/50/60p. And the CCFL wide gamut backlights keep going and going, and contrast is stellar. These TV's cost peanuts nowadays, and surpass most new sub-500 bucks new TV's in many areas.
@@realamericannegro977 problem is with LCD's in 4:3 is that they are first gen panels: low contrast, mediocre viewing angles, definitely not on par with a CRT. A cheap as heck Bravia 32BX400 or so, 1080p from 2008, destroys any 4:3 LCD panel on everything. It even is better at 4:3. As those have a wide gamut CCFL backlit high-contrast MVA panel with multi-standard support (24/50/60Hz), 3xSCART and component and 4xHDMI, they are really a no-brain solution to display almost any content.

"Take for example a 32’ TV, an LED TV would use about 30 - 55 watts, an LCD on about 50 - 70 watts, OLED TVs use about 60 watts and CRT TVs use about 120 watts." - Source: The Motherload A small 14" Trinitron consumes about 58 watts.
You would have to get an adapter that allows you to do it. Not sure what cord this tv takes but you have to figure out what and look up "component to such amd such adapter"
I see like 16 running, 16x50W on average=800W. Less than a similar area filled with plasma's. People have no idea, but a household in the eighties used exceptional little electricity for home entertainement, especially since we shared devices! The EU may label these as "F" on the energy label, but they should be A++ posthumously. Same for that C64 that only did like 15W or the Korg M1 synth with 15W power draw.

Only thing that can come close is a good lcd that does 60hz. Sometimes it can match or exceed crts in some ways.
