You missed out the ending where his wife isn't dead, but in prison for the murder of her stalker. She spent a quarter century in prison waiting for this version of Ludo to visit her, knowing he'd forgive her and understand why she killed the man; to allow his son to be born and for his daughter to be raised by a wonderful woman.
They wanted it to be a happy ending so they decided not to put in the part shout how she’s in prison now

As a detective, it took him a DAMN LONG TIME to realize that if he saved his first wife he wouldn't have a second one.
I was legit expecting the murder to turn out to be his future self. That would be wild.

Just wanna point out , the entire premise of the movie is ones ability to change the past , kinda hits the ssme note as minority report , I mean how do you know that guy is going to kill you ?
