@@m.a.s.k6442 quite a few channels post wrong titles or just post descriptions. I have seen my share of movies the last few weeks that have different titles than listed in the video description. So I also checked the comments for the correct title.
I was so disappointed that this series got cancelled so soon. As a fan of the Highlander series, this show felt like an alternate version of that world. So many good shows with great promise have been cancelled far too soon, while so many shows that were far past their expiration dates and shows that were utter crap from the start went on far too long.
That's prob the reason why I liked this show, too... I'm still watching the Highlander's episodes from time to time...
Shows like Supernatural should have ended long ago
You'll probably be happy to know that they're rebooting Highlander with Henry Cavill
Thank (or blame) capitalism and everything being for profit. A good story takes time to build and develop. My main frustration with Netflix and how quickly they notoriously cut shows.
I was thinking Quantum Leap, but I loved Highlander.

I was watching this when it was airing and was extremely disappointed that it was canceled after the first season. I never understood how crappy shows get 4-5 seasons and really good ones get canned immediately. Ironically there was also a show called Go On airing the same year and despite their respective titles, they both were canceled after season 1.
It's all about views and money dude. Not enough people watched it.
Spectacular Spider-Man was also cancelled after season 1 even if it was a masterpiece
agreed...quite a number of exceptional shows end this way. besides this one, "Alcatraz" was another one of my favorites not to get a 2nd season. the last episode of alcatraz ended on a cliff hanger too...
This was an excellent TV show. I was so pissed when it got cancelled. I must have weird taste in TV shows because so many that I like never get a 2 season. I don't understand why this was not a popular show.
If anything this should have continued as movies. Why it was cancelled makes no sense, it was 1 of the best shows out that year.
One of the things that annoyed me was how Henry sort of ended up stuck in his old ways, and Abe had to keep “introducing” him to things like classical music or Jazz (or what ever it was at the time). Stuff that Henry would have lived through and appreciated.
That's actually what I liked... The possibilities for a character development even after so many years, with a mindset of a 90 yo Italian grandpa untill he actually understands the thing
I loved the juxtaposition of Abe, his son, pretending to be his dad.
The pain Henry had to live with though. Knowing everyone you love will die and leave you alone, no matter what. Immortality would truly suck, especially if there would be no way to end it.

I've rewatched this show 9 times. I'm also becoming old and I keep rewatching the mentalist, castle, forever, prodigal son.
mentalist and castle are the best. I rewatch these all the time. Also House M.D. was great.

Still miss this show - it was such an easy watch and Henry and his son had such great chemistry.
This police-procedural Highlander drama should have gotten more seasons but since Firefly was canceled nothing’s sacred 🙄
The 2008 NEW AMSTERDAM is another 'forever' man tale, this time with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau living in New York City, a couple of hundred years after it was "New Amsterdam". That series followed 2007's JOURNEYMAN (Kevin Kidd) who is a time-traveler. These two series along with FOREVER suffered from the flashbacks and time-jumps. They were so off-paced that the flow of the tale was injured - it wasn't they weren't appropriate, but just too off-pace. I thought JOURNEYMAN was the most interesting, then NEW AMSTERDAM and that FOREVER was a pale comparison. All three were so much better than most, though... it was a shame to lose them because, I thought, my complaint about 'interfering' flashbacks would eventually smooth out.
It funny how the flashbacks ruined some of these"immortal"shows but worked well for Highlander.

I am forever intrigued by the portrayal of the "forever-man". When everyone around you ages and changes, the dynamic evolves as well. People treat a man who looks 30+ y.o differently than a 70+ y.o. Even if the 30 + y.o is an immortal, being treated as a "young" person for hundreds of years will undoubtedly change how you comport in the world. New Amsterdam grazed on this dynamic between the character of Nikolaj (immortal) and his son who is mortal and who is shown as an old man most of the time on the show. Something interesting happened in their interaction where the son became the wiser/fatherly character and the immortal and "young" father became like a child in need of guidance. Perhaps because when you physically age, you become aware of the essence of humanity and learn from it.

yeah there's such a thing as too many flashbacks - and when the flashbacks are more interesting than the rest of the story, it's a problem

Yep. Sad state of affairs. These days if it's not bland as hell, ideologically driven, or doesn't insult the viewers intelligence, it's dead on arrival to network executives.

Watched every episode (streamed on the CW Roku channel). Wish I would have watched this when it first came out. Enjoyed this series; wish it would have lasted longer. :)
This is my top favorite show of all time and I hate the ABC network for cancelling it. It is absolutely wonderful. I don't know why but this is one of those shows that you almost instantly connects on the first episode. "it wasn't doing good" they say... well maybe you should have spent a little on marketing. The casting is great. And there was not a single episode that i would consider cringe worthy. I know some people think its ludicrous but I say those people have no imagination.

indeed if people think that, they should not should watch fiction. And ABC i disliked this network when they messed up ALIAS series, pushed it to a bed time slot, then complained about bad ratings, then gave J.J only a few episodes to wrap up the last season (so this one sucked) I heard one of the executives at ABC hated this show an took these actions to get it off the Air (rumors off-course but still)
Not sure why this show got canceled, it was good, good acting good concept and story, easy to get into (not a complex story-line for new audiences to get into for newcomers)

As a future writer, I was thinking about an MC who's having severe PTSD, who's going through the same thing as being immortal, but whenever he dies, he was reborn with a different body / identity. Would have been used in a supernatural action drama.

I'm always annoyed by how all these stories always revolve around an individual who is remarkably monolingual.
One of the best crime serie I've seen... Something I've never seen, with great charcaters and a good story😢 so sad it was cancelled
I LOVE time-travel shows and I LOVE crime shows so this show was a blessing for me but unfortunately networks seem unable to differentiate between shows that have SO MUCH potential and shows that are already past their expiration date 😢

Was seriously annoyed when this was cancelled, and it's not as if it ended on a quiet note, It was cancelled just as everything was about to kick off. Henry had survived and defeated Adam his antagonist and Jo was "Maybe" about to find out about Henry's secret of immortality.....and then it was cancelled. Crazy decision. 😞

Saw this on TV exactly like that, but for some reason I remember him finding Abe on the street in a criminal neighbourhood, there was something about sewer pipes

I remember crime shows/police procedural shows of this era. Quirky lead and no nonsense partner. Elementary, Castle, The Mentalist.. loved that era!
