I have been a dev for over 20y... and this feeling never goes away because of how fast-paced the IT industry is.
Don't I know it! Why does everything change so often lol
I like that you said being uncomfortable is actually good, because it gives you the motivation to grow
Gotta be pushed
As a self-taught developer, this video motivates me a lot, thanks dude
Glad to hear it!
embrace the uncomfort , if you are feeling uncomfortable then you are at the perfect place to grow. !!!!
a bar
I finished python full stack bootcamp a few months ago, and I am still suffering from that and I haven’t gotten a job yet but honestly man u just made me really giggle. Hats down to you no mf speak of this like you are. Thank you for sharing your experience
You got this broo, stay motivated you will land a job eventually
Man this is the best community on CZcams
Hey thanks for sharing this. I'm a senior frontend engineer and I still have impostor syndrome. I guess it comes with the territory; there's always something you don't know about your job.
My senior engineer who’s been coke for 15 years told me he has imposter syndrome too. Blew my mind
Man, i really needed to hear this. Been struggling with imposter syndrome for weeks now. Somehow, even though I kinda know what I need to do. It's comforting to hear it from another person. Being uncomfortable is good, and its how I use that feeling to prove to myself that I am or can be better a developer.
This is great content, I love how you told a time where you've went through something similar. It's so relatable and comforting to know I'm not alone feeling like this, thanks man.
It passes with time and experience! keep ya head up
I really appreciate this video and you. I am starting my first tech position next week and I am also self taught. Everything you mentioned is what I am feeling now. Thank you again for your amazing content!
As a bootcamp graduate this is something I always struggle with. Thanks for this video man. Wishing you success and nothing less
It fades with time! Keep after it, btw what Bootcamp did you attend?

I needed this so much
This was so helpful. Its grounding to hear someone else experience what feels like is an isolated feeling. Thanks man, I needed that.
Thank you for sharing, this will be one of those videos I need to come back to time after time for reminders.
Watching someone close to me study medicine helped me realize that even after 10 years, doctors don’t know it all and have to continuously improve and research and that’s the method I plan to use.
I’m new to tech and still a student and after 3 weeks of focused and immersed learning, something just randomly clicked!! Then all of a sudden, these technologies and services have begun to flow. I’m at the stage of beginning to understand what I don’t know and I’m grateful for where I am.
Perfect timing to hear this. Thanks for sharing.
Just starting out learning to code and this video helped me with overcoming anxiety entering into the tech world. Tech has always been an interest of mine and this year I've decided to make that career jump! Thanks Jeremiah for an amazing video!
Man, this was a great video, thank you for sharing! Please continue making videos!
More to come!
This was inspiring and tangible for defeating imposter syndrome, thank you!
Absolutely
Thank you so much for this video. It's made a big difference to me right now.
oh man! Thank you so much! I just started my first job as a self-taught developer a week ago, and this is exaclty how I feel! It was very inspiring to hear your story!
Glad I could help!
Loved this video man! The football analogy was great for me as someone who grew up playing sports myself. I'm transitioning over from a materials science hands on background to learning front end development and this for sure helped give me confidence and realize there's nothing wrong with starting where I'm at. New subscriber!
Great to hear!
OMG Bro I Need This Video So Much. Just Got Hired As A Software Developer And I Was Losing My Mind Thinking I Was Over My Head. But This Video Put Me At Ease And Now I Can Take A Breath And Continue To Grow In This Field. Much Love Bro 💯🤟🏾
Thanks man really motivating!!
Glad to hear it!
Great mindset man! The fact that you didn't give up and put in so much time learning skills for your job shows that you have willpower and perseverance. A lot of people don't realize that these traits will help a lot with being successful.
Thanks man! Hard work and mindset go a long way. I start at Slack in a few weeks
This was pure gold!! Thank you!! ❤
Thank you for watching 🙏
Awesome video Jeremiah! Keep on keeping on!
Always!
imposter syndrome loves to wreck my mental health. i can't tell if i'm truly an imposter or not or if i'm lying to myself to keep going 🤔🙃
I had super bad imposter syndrome this week 😭
Pop lock & drop it still a slapper
I listen to it every morning. It defines who I am
I am a self taught developer too, I haven’t been to any college, and it always makes me feel inferior to those who has attended, your video has motivated me enough to keep on moving not to fumble and rather upgrade my skills, thank you very much ❤
self taught squaddd
Man I have been watching your videos, and sorry to say this, but I never subscribed to your channel quite yet but when you dropped Hester and Payton ooooohhh man!!!! I am a Chicago Bears fan from Chicago born and raised, subbed for life man!!!! 😆
Gotta show respect to the real ones. I appreciate you subscribin! I was born and raised just two hours south #beardown!
Needed these words today. Didn't realize that impostor syndrome could manage to lurk in despite being in my 5th year in the industry. Thanks for this Jeremiah...
Glad this video is still helping folks :)
thankss for a greaat video, will do the tipss! 🥺
I appreciate it! Good luck
I'd like to thank you for this video man, I really appreciate it!
Glad it was helpful!
Everyone gets imposter syndrome. And if they don't, they're lying lol. Keep at it man. Love seeing your channel blow up!
My senior engineer who's been coding for 15 years told me the other day that he still has imposter syndrome from time to time. I was shook
This made me laugh so hard and helped a lot. Thanks for posting!
lol glad you liked it!
Thanks for this. This has actually really taken some of the pressure out of the situation and shown me a different mindset (so mission of video accomplished basically).
I’m glad it helped! I need to watch it again myself because I’m starting a new position
@@JeremiahPeoples Cool. Will keep an eye out for a video about it.
That was what I needed right ther. That bit at the end finished it off right.
I forgot what I said, but I’m sure it was fire
This was definitely a video worth watching :)) thanks bro :)))
Decided to watch another Dev imposter syndrome video after this and within 2 minutes, he was peddling his course…
Your videos hit different bro… I very much enjoy your content:))
Love your content! Gained a new sub
Thanks Naiad!
Dang, you was gettin jiggy on the field bro 😭but great and very motivating video 💪🏽
Thank you, I feel like there are a lot of people who need to hear this. I’m a QA engineer and still feel out of place sometimes but I’m a lot better now compared to even a year ago. It’s a process.
Right! we get a little better every day!
You’re an inspiration, young man👍🏾
Just telling my story!
Thanks for sharing your experience. I hear a lot of people saying that no company will let a junior touch their backend. I am surprised to hear that you got your first job as a Fullstack developer.
Even though I have a degree in computer engineering, I still have a strong impostor syndrome. My last job was not related to programming and I feel like the big challenge is getting your first job as a developer. After that, you just keep improving and you should be fine.
That pair programming is amazing for developing juniors! I just needed a chance to prove myself
This was awesome!
That Canvas in the back is fire and so is your desk. You should do a room tour or desk tour.
I'm uploading the room tour in an hour just because you asked !!
This was SO HELPFUL!!!! Oh my goodness! I was so down on myself just putting myself every day (literally to the point of crying). Thank Yah (God) for allowing you to make a video like this to encourage me during my insecure moments.
I'm really glad this helped. I know the feeling well, and I thought I was the only one!
as someone who is self taught also...i found doing complex projects on my own time and analyzing what i accomplished solved imposter syndrome.
Thanks dude. I’m just a 17 yr old and only able to talk to adults since only me and them have the same interests(I mean I haven’t found anyone in my age who is into developing yet). But I always feel like an impostor among them, I almost thought I was, but after these videos about how to overcome impostor syndrome I started to realize that I should have looked from the different angle
wow starting early!
Thanks for sharing 👏🏿👏🏿
You bet
Oh fo sho, anytime!
My biggest fear is that someone's going to hire me in tech only because I'm a woman and I won't know anything and I'll make a complete fool of myself. In my pervious jobs/career I knew what I'm doing at ''all'' times. In tech however, I feel like I never know enough. I guess I need to get comfortable sitting in the feeling of being uncomfortable. Btw, a career switcher here :D Thank you for sharing.
This video damn near made me cry!
I am in the middle of my education to be a softwave developer and when I tell you the imposter syndrome is crushing me some times its an understatement.
As a person who experienced it, it does not last forever! You got this
Thank you

I’m an entry level French teacher, this is excellent advice!!!
I really need to. This comment is W
Love this bruh, no one tells you this tbh. ❤️
I spit straight facts here lmao
Nice video man like always! Thanks and also centennial high school? Lol
Love this! 🎊
You're just supporting the channel huh🤔 Glad you're liking the vids
Your video motivates me, currently working as a first programmer job one month, I feel very uncomfortable because I have not idea how to do.
Thanks a lot, Jeremiah. This inspires me.
Anytime, I hope you continue to enjoy my videos :)
thanks fam that means alot
You inspire us lot!!
Thanks to share your experience..
Love sharing my fails haha
thanks fam that means alot
Thank you 🙏
You’re welcome 😊
I appreciate this video 🥰
I appreciate you
A new sub here. I like the video.
Thanks Frank! What kinda content would you like?
Wish you good luck 🤟🏻👍🏻
Awesome video. The only thing I did not agree with is that you mention that impostor syndrome goes away with time. Impostor syndrome will kick in even if you have 20 years of experience. Because you will eventually move to a new team, technology, role or company which will trigger your impostor syndrome. If you never feel impostor syndrome, I would challenge you if you are doing things outside of your comfort zone or just doing the same type of tasks over and over again. As you mentioned in the video, there are ways to reduce the impostor syndrome episodes and that is to work on yourself, you mentioned some good points in this video :)
It comes in waves, even if you have a set job and "made it", and let me tell you i needed this video. Thank you
It absolutely comes in waves!
Love you bro ❤️
Thank you!
Great video bro. Programmers are not supposed to know everything off the top of their heads but instead research everything needed to create software. #we-all-started-as-noobs & #you_are_not_an_imposter!
Very well said 👏🏾
thank you
Oh so this is kindve normal I’m noticing. Thank you bro 🙏🏽
I've always aspired to be normal lol, thanks for watching
@@JeremiahPeoples I read somewhere that the highly experienced and skilled tend to suffer from impostor syndrome while those without are insanely confident lol 🙏🏽
i feel like an imposter in every tech job I get. sometimes I really fail to turn up for some good opportunities because of the fear of judgment😔
Same with me when it comes to Mac
Total side note: have you ever heard you look a loooot like Mamoudou Athie. Archive 81 is also a solid watch if that genre is your vibe.
Every day
And i also use gpt4, so can develop faster and learn faster but at the end still feel very amateur.
Code that good good!
amazing
I'm interested in software development but unsure where to begin. What courses do you recommend as a starting point?
Freecodecamp.Org
What do you do when you've coded for 20 years and still have to learn new tech that comes out every 6 months, and still have this feeling?! Does it ever go away?!
Dammmm the little song kept me wanting to hear more
My editor went stupid with this
Ah that's the name of it!
🔥🔥🔥
When I saw the title I thought the imposter syndrome meant among us XD
Close enough
The Imposter Syndrome is a real issue. I always just remind myself I don't need permission to learn and make mistakes. It's an assumed part of development.
What courses would you recommend on Udemy ?
Colt Steele’s full stack course
curl up in a little tiny ball and look at the ceiling. LOL!!! Awwww po baby. LOL!!!! Man I'm feeling the same way right now. I just got my Security Plus Certificate and I know literally nothing about cybersecurity. SMH. Totally lost at this point. Just trying to get that first gig and change careers.
This is me right now.
Hello brother, been trying to validate my img but it ain't validating, I have actually done everything shown on the error message yet it's still not working. Can you help out please?
