Amazing how old these classics are and still look as attractive as ever! These are the last of the Redbird body-styled trains in service. I just hope they'll continue running for another year or two. I'm hoping to visit NY in the future and taking a ride on a train of R-32's is on my priority list!
This is an excellent railfan video and also an important historical document that records the Rockaways attempt to rebuild after suffering devastating damage in Hurricane Sandy (2012). R-32 Brightliners forever!
Autumn. Colors. Someone's good sense of timing.
The clarity of this video is amazing -- great job!
If this was shot trough the windshield how did they find one so clean?
BurningtunaDC well I have nothing to say
Hi, from Chicago Illinois. I like the: A, J, and 7 trains in New York City. I like the different views of the city from the trains. I have never have been to New York before. Only watched from train videos.
Good thing that the R32 is still working well
Thank you for recording and describing this video. Your videos and DjHammer's are fun to watch. 😊
Awesome ride!!! Thank you for posting this! This is so cool!!!
That's a quiet sounding train!!! 😏
Thank you. That ride brings back memories of my trek on the A line 49 years ago. This was just as I remember it. 🥰
Great Job Fan Railer,
As an Ex-T.A. worker living out of state, seeing Liberty Junction Tower, the famous "10 Ball" s/o Rockaway blvd, the F-5 test track, Hammels Wye ...and the newly refurbished flats - complete with new steel barrier walls (compliments of Super Storm Sandy) Really Made My Day !!!
OUTSTANDING!
This is the way all rail videos should be done.
Very professional look.
At 5:55, what is that abandoned line?
old LIRR ROW
wow, grant ave was my home stop before i moved to philly
I miss the A train I wish that I was back in Queens
Cool fall foliage
awesome train video
Nice video
A great video. Thanks.
Those R-32s still look pretty damn good. I remember when they were brand new. Too bad I wasn't on this train. It would have been a nice way to celebrate my 60th birthday.
They were built in 1964-65. My very first subway ride was on an N train of shiny new R-32s on July 21, 1965.
...
You're probably the first person ever to regret not having been on the subway on his birthday.. :P
8avexp happy belated birthday
Don't forget the pepper spray and a few buddies, too.
Rockaway blvd in ozone park is my old neighborhood on 97 st
I Took An R32 (C) & (J) Train Yesterday & All The (A) Trains I Seen Was R46's.
Is the rail section between JFK and Broad Channel CWR? I remember as a kid riding on the 38s & 44s and the tracks would make a lot more noise and trains would basically bounce around on the flats.
oh yeah
7:41 to 9:04 - slow speed order due to leaves. No more than about 10 to 15 mph. Plus Aqueduct-N Conduit is a fast station!
I wish the old amusement on Rockaway was still there. I wish NYC still had all of its amusement parks
Playland right?
Keeping up with them track's in winter time must be one cold job the longer part near water
Loved the video , so very clear and steady, what camera were you using?
my old iPhone 6.
Very nice, I need to use my Iphone 7 more for video.
For filming, I use my iPhone 8+
thanks
Hi, I love your videos. I don’t know much about New York trains, where do you stand to get this video? Is this with conductor? Would love an answer please :)
How he films: the R32 type subway cars have a box in the corner where the conductor is and there is a front window to see where the conductor is not.
i live on the 8th floor in the grey and white buildings they have good security and they have their own super market
They plan on keeping the R32s around with one more rebuild for when the R211s get here but l cant see it, the R32s are definitely showing their age and a lot of them are hot cars...
Is the reason the R32's were running on the weekend because of the transfer of 3 sets of R46 to Jamaica Yard? Friend of mine saw one the R32 sets to Lefferts Blvd during the middle of the afternoon on a weekday! Nice to see the 32's on the flats again!
Pitkin's 46s are being SMS'd. The 32s are covering the 46s that are down in CIY overhaul shop.
John Kaufmann
lost track (no pun intended) how many times i was on the train to Lefferts Blvd. R32's... how many times did the air conditioner didnt work or no heat.. or better yet, the overhead speakers not working.
Randy Johnson and
This whole train system could us an overhaul.. Tracks and all. You can tell that the tax money is not used on this system.
Where did the middle and side tracks come from
where in the video?
can you make a video on the L train front view in nyc ?
Sure, if you wanna stare at blackness for most of the video
I see you didn’t cut the part
Does anyone know why the train went slow into Aqueduct? Is this a new platform?
No. Leaf season slow order. You can see the temporary signage to the right of the right of way if you look hard enough.
Fan Railer Thanks. Wondered if it was something like that, but must have missed the sign!
Yea, the lighting wasn't ideal; makes the sign hard to see.
If you notice at the 7:40, the 5 yellows on thr right, indicates a slow speed order because of the leaves.
Why do they slow down in the middle of the route? I guess you best not begin a hurry
Don't the R-32s operate in married pairs? The conductor is supposed to be in the middle of the train. With a train of 8 R-32s, that makes sense. But this train had 10 R-32s. How can the conductor be in the middle of the train, assuming that a conductor can only be at the end of a married pair
There are cabs on both ends of each car. There are conductor controls in each cab, but only the outward facing cabs of the pair have motorman controls.
One question? Why does the mta send the r32 a train to lefferts blvd a lot instead of Far Rockaway or Rockaway park?
If you see the R32s on the A, it will have 10 cars. On the C and the J line, only 8 cars you will see.
@@888jerm888 I know the subway maximum is 11 cars but do/have trains ever run more than that? Can every station platform take 11 cars or only a certain few? Cheers
@@visionist7 Only the 7 train runs with 11 cars per train. Everywhere else, the maximum train length is 10 or 8 cars depending on the line and type of equipment.
slow trains from another age...
Nossshhhhtint.
Esse metrô é vagaroso assim ou está em teste?
I said it´s very slow.
Why nostrand.
I don't understand. Clearly, they could have built this line at ground level rather than Elevated or under....
This line used to be LIRR trackage.
+Fan Railer Until 1955 & 1956.
NY subway looks very slow
World High Speed Train Conquerer its not really, for some reason this train is very slow
Looks like Return trip conductor ran it faster and stopped more sudden at end of platform.
The depth perception is off because the cameraman has to zoom in on the window in order to have a clear view. It's actually going much faster than it looks.
45 MPH between Howard Beach and Broad Channel.
This is a R32. There's no need to zoom in on the window, since you can stand up against it.
The "Boxcars". Only a true NYC Transit guy knows what that means
I couldn't imagine that the NYC subway was in this status... There is a big difference among European railways and the American.
Are you comparing NYC Subway with European railways? That is like comparing apples and oranges. If you want to compare the NYC with European underground transit trains that would be a more fair comparison. Bear in mind that all the European metros or u bahns with the exception of London and Budapest are not as old as NYC's Subway.
Yeah, the eurotrash rail is far more overpriced.
32: 56 how many garbage are there on the rail....
Chicago trains look way better
No... they don't.
Carrington Woods no lol
There a LOT of better trains in the nyc subway than the R32
first
Subway Guy ilook
This is indeed NYC and not some 3rd world country. Or is it.
Say, everyone look at the politicians!
its both !!
Larry, the "3rd world country" and countries are now HERE.
Welcome to the New World.
Larry Litmanen I'm afraid your right buddy 3rd world country it is.
Awesome footage! Phenomenal front row perspective. The video reminds me a lot of the movie The Warriors :-)
