Sounds amazing. It has a smoothness to it, that normally Gibsons don't.
Man, does Quinton learn these songs, or is he just improvising? Outstanding playing and that guitar sounds like a tone beast!
Its not hard to improvise and play what hes playing. Aint that hard once you grasp basic chord progressions and also get the finger technique right. Remember the most important hand is the strumming hand. 😉
Best guitar Gibson ever made. The loudest most powerful guitar I ever played. I had a Martin HD28 and the AJ walked all over it. I could hardly believe a Gibson could drown out a Martin in a bluegrass jam. But it did and I had to have it! Sadly I lost it in a house fire 3 years ago and a new one is 5k now. If it wasn’t for that I’d have another one
That is sad as fuck, my condolences. A lefty AJ is my life’s goal lol
Gibson's historic offerings are blowing me away so far, keep 'em coming guys. Can't wait for the 50s and 60s J-45.
Great playing as always from the mighty Q.
Please- compare a D-28 to an AJ. Obviously they’re the same scale length but it would be interesting to hear a side by side comparison. Thanks. Love your presentations.
Yes this is what you should be doing
Not convincing the guitar player that it’s an abnormally longer than usual scale length lol
But perhaps a d28 with Adirondack top to compare
@@Rossdink D28 Authentic would be the right guitar to compare.

Cool tune Quinton plays at the end. I haven't watched all of his videos but this is possibly the best of his I've seen to date. Nice guitar as well but, as someone else said, at over $4K pretty pricey.
Awesome guitar, with a beautiful voicing, tone and range! I own a lot of Martins but, I want one of these Gibsons too. ))) The historic significance and influence of these fine instruments can not be overstated. Congratulations to Gibson on a fine resurrection/recreation of an Ole Timey Friend.
i played this beast over at music Zoo...it is not a modern guitar! it is a retro mofo all the way!!! wonderful old sound incredible GROWL!!! amazing phattttt neck and alot of fun!!! I bought a martin sinker that day:))))
I love that song he's playing. what is it?
That is a flawless sounding instrument!!!
Sounds great, but every guitar Quentin plays sounds great! I wish I had his talent.
I want it.
lol, i defy anyone to tell the scale length based on the space between frets. i imagine it can be done if you've been limited in what guitars you've played, but if you've played a lot of guitars (and i have) it's not easy to tell, and i can't imagine the difference in distance between frets would be significant enough to be the giveaway. anyway, i'm sure peope will disagree.
anyway, i have a 66 gibson j45 and i also have a 69 epiphone texan, now i know one has the long and the other has the short but i can never remember which is which (i'll go google it now) okay, gibson j45 is 24 3/4 and an epi texan is 25 1/2. now both my epi and gibson have the same width and shape necks, narrow like an electric, and at the moment i think (!) they have the same strings elixir 12-54, both guitars had a refret only a few months ago, within weeks of each other (my nails and 40 years of playing really wore them out) and what i find is the epiphone is "normal" but the gibson really hurts my fingers, the strings seem too tight (in fact i'm going to put light gauge on next time round) so - that's my take on scale length! and personally i can't tell which has the longer scale from just playing. i've had the epi about 18 months, and the gibson about 35 years, so i ought to be more used to the gibson...
At least I feel the difference maybe not so much in the space between frets but in string tension.
It’s a beaut.
Sounds great.
Did you do the scale length comparison?
Not that I’d consider a long scale guitar…
Tonally, how does this differ from the Historic 1942 Southern Jumbo? Thanks.
What strings are on this? Sound great!
gibson advanced jumbo historic collection?
Just curious. When was this shot?
While waiting for a reply from Music VIlla (depending on their current "schedules"), typically these are videoed within a few days of the date on the CZcams demos, in this case published April 13. Not a specific date but a general idea nonetheless, so, fairly recent demos.
filmed 4/5, edited & uploaded 4/6 and released 4/13. typically 1 to 7 days between shoot and release, but sometimes longer depending on inventory. We like the guitars to be in-stock and available for purchase when released.
I thought the scale length was measured from the 12th fret to the saddle. I could be wrong. Love all of the videos you guys do.
Sorry, but that is not correct..... the scale is measured from the nut to the saddle. the 12th fret is the halfway mark.
@@TheAcousticLetter Yes you are right, thank you for the knowledge. I appreciate it. Keep those Videos coming!!
This guitar will overshadow all the martin guitars.
not exactly but I do love this guitar!!!!
The neck is just thicker 😄
I was about to sing Another turning point a fork stuck in the road.
New 1960s hummingbird pleaaaaaase
😎
I like these guys videos, but they are rambling idiots
Is the playability of that Gibson so bad that you had to put a capo on it to play it? Are you just not used to the giant neck profile on it?
It sounded great with the capo
i had a custom j50 that had all the trimmings of a an advanced jumbo, but it was stolen - serial 858757 if anyone sees an AJ with no pickguard.
Awkward review.
$6199.00 in Canadian funds - Standard Boucher Goose with AAAA Adirondack top with East Indian Rosewood and all the other fixings $ 4200.00 need I say more ! Gibson way overpriced!
Fair. But if you want the Gibson sound, and Boucher does not deliver.....then...Gibson makes sense. Also don't look at the suggested retail or MAP as I think Gibsons are discounted more than a Boucher if you find the right dealer.
Don't be rude and take off your cap! A little respect, as your parents taught you, or do you want to look "modern", for heaven's sake!
This ain't the military. This is you tube.
The only one who‘s rude is actually you ... what a stupid comment! Who cares about Quinton’s cap??? Quinton is such a great guitar player.
How would you know what his parents taught him?
