    Here's a buyer tip altogether. Avoid de, go hr, get oil galley gasket from eps. Never worry about that again. Btw zspeed has best source for clutch and flywheel upgrades and fixer uppers

      HR is nicer. But there is nothing wrong with a DE engine. My Z got 200.000 kilometers on it. Not using ANY oil. Also i hear the DE high ref 2006 is a oil slurper. The HR is stronger if you want to turbo it though. Stock DE is nothing wrong with.

    350zs are going up in value! Few years ago would have been optimal. I find in Canada and the US, mint condition ones are well over $10k, some even closer to $20k. I am picking up a 2007 Touring Roadster MT for $14k, has just under 100,000kms. Super excited for it :).

      @@kylefernandes9116 So far the car has been great! Drove it for 2 years so far (stored in winter last year and same with this year). Drove about 8k miles, and no issues. It's been really reliable, and I drive it around the city a bunch and in the country/longer drive. The soft top itself does tear, mine came with a tear. I patched it myself and it is holding fine. I used flex tape, it doesn't look the best but I drive it with the top down as long as it's not raining, and even when it's cold out. Buy one if you can! The roadsters are really fun. Also for the gallery gasket I haven't noticed any issues there.
      I've now upgraded my Z to Brembos, hawkpads and some stickier tires and bigger wheels. Running Enkei GTC01s with tires 245/45/19 front and 275/35/19. Love it! Super happy with it, and it's my daily in the summer!
      Just do the basic maintenance, give it great gas and check on spark plugs and common maintenance items and you are golden.

    It's not a huge issue but the one you glazed over was the window motors. Damn...those are a pain in the ass and go bad all the time. I've replaced them about 7-8 times between both sides. They just get burned out...and if you "clean" them...they go bad even quicker. Better just spend the money on new motors. Trying to sell mine now...As a 2003 model its a tough market to get what's its worth and it's well taken care of.

    can you go more in def about the hi rev and oil consumption problem for the 06 zs?

    • @rosaatomica9976
      @rosaatomica9976 Před 6 lety

      Xue Tang there was a common oil consumption issue with the revup engines, which were in the super late 05 and then 06, those engines rev to 7k and make mpre power than the de but less power than the newer hr which was implemented in the 07 and 08, and obviously the de and revup and single intake while the hr is dual, but yeah people bitch a lot about the oil consumption thing which is a problem but really if you take care of the car it wont suffer

      Hi! Im not too car savvy, currently learning about stuff. So if i may ask, Why get an HR instead of a DE? Also, isnt there an HRDE engine?

    • @kova_motive
      @kova_motive  Před 7 lety +7

      Forbiess Edits the HR is a better motor out of the box compared to the DE. It revs higher, is more efficient and makes more power. DE is a great engine though especially if you modify it. Cant go wrong either way just know that if you plan to modify your car the HR will produce more power in the end. The 350 has 3 engine options throughout the years (DE, Revup and HR). They are all VQs but no such thing as HRDE. Hope this helps.

    Hi man,
    Lately I look to buy a 350z
    Until now i was into e36 a lot but i may change my mind because of the new stupid laws in europe (I live in Paris)
    Whatever in my late researches i see a lot of 350z with the price between 10000 € and 15000€ and a huge difference in km ( or miles)
    For exemple I've seen 350z for 12000€ with 144000 km and other 350z with just 60000 km for the same price
    Why such difference ? It's the options so different?
    And I would like to ask if the engine reliable even with high milleage on it?
    I have a bmw now and it's the kind of engine that last if you maintain properly, is it the same for 350z or should i look for something under 100000 km? Sorry i don't know how much is that in miles
    I am sorry if that wasn't clear.

    • @kova_motive
      @kova_motive  Před 7 lety +1

      Alex Mihawk thanks for watching. The price has multiple factors including year, location, clean title vs rebuilt, etc. Some are just offered at a different price. As for reliability, with proper maintenance, these motors are very reliable. Multiple people I know have 200k miles + and the motor still runs great. Hope this helped.

      Thanks for taking the time to answer, it is helpful, it will be my first car from Japan so I am a little "nervous" to buy one and it will be my first car too, with that much horse power.
      Well for the moment I locked my eyes on a 350z from 2004 I will see if it gets sold until I put some safe money to the side to have some back-up in case of anything.
      Here is the link of the car I found to my taste

      @kova_motive  Před 7 lety

      Alex Mihawk doesnt look like a bad car. Just make sure to check the title and see if there were any accidents or any major work done. I like that it had the Brembos. Will you be able to see it before you buy it. If so, maybe take a mechanic with you to give it a once over. The powertrain is pretty reliable on these cars so I wouldnt be too nervous.

    • @alexrs6404
      @alexrs6404 Před 7 lety

      Yeah, well it's gonna be complicated a litlle but I am used to plan a little trip to germany, my dad and I bought our cars there, we will figure something out to have time and check the car properly.
      I will try to grab some knowledge too about the engines and other commons problems like the ones you mention in the video.
      I saw that the tires on that one are pretty wasted on the edges in the photo with the little scratch on the front bumper, maybe it comes from the oversteer problem that comes from the factory or the bad alignment you talk about too.

    • @kova_motive
      @kova_motive  Před 7 lety

      Yea, try and look it over in person if you have to ability to do so. Ask lots of questions and look over the car top to bottom. Yes, the tires are a good indication of the alignment. Could just need a good alignment but may want to jack up the car and make sure all the bushings are intact. If it has any bad joints or bushings, it won't be able to hold a good alignment. Good luck!

      I feel like prices are gonna continue going up from here on out, especially if you want one that's bone stock and in good condition. Hopefully there's no tranny issues in it as it's been well maintained as far as I can see. I don't even want to mod it at all, just wanna own it a drive it on the weekends while taking care of it. If I want to pick up a beater to mod, then I'll have no problem picking up all those trashed ones you see everywhere.
