    ABOUT:🔻
    The Two Ronnies is a British television comedy sketch show starring Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett. It was created by Bill Cotton and aired on BBC1 from 10 April 1971 to 25 December 1987. The usual format included sketches, solo sections, serial stories and musical finales.
    Ronnie Barker and Ronnie Corbett met in 1963 at the Buckstone Club in the Haymarket, London, where Corbett was serving drinks between acting jobs. At the time, Barker was beginning to establish himself as a character actor in the West End and on radio. They were invited by David Frost to appear in his new show, The Frost Report, with John Cleese,[1] but the pair's big break came when they filled in, unprepared and unscripted, for eleven minutes during a technical hitch at a British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards ceremony at the London Palladium in 1970.[2] In the audience was Bill Cotton, the Head of Light Entertainment for the BBC, and Sir Paul Fox, the Controller of BBC1. Cotton was so impressed by the duo that he turned to Fox and asked: "How would you like those two on your network?" Unknown to the pair, the renewal of their contract had just been declined by London Weekend Television of rival network ITV, freeing them to change channels.[2] Barker and Corbett were given their own show by the BBC.[3]

    This may be their highest rated sketch in Britain (closely followed by the "Mastermind" masterpiece), but neither go down quite as well elsewhere because so much of the humor comes from the dialect, or British slang/general knowledge.

My teacher hadn't seen this, so when me and my mates were saying Four Candles.. she gave us a slap because in her ears we were saying fxck handles? She found out the truth and everything was great. What I always admire about this sketch is the fantastic set. All of us, of an older generation, are familiar with this type of shop. The older ironmongers which sold everything else as well. My family ran a little village shop and post office for most of the last century and one of these shops was in the next village, run by the Chandler family. If he didn't have what you wanted, then he could have on Thursday! Mr. Chandler himself is a vintage car fanatic.
    Of course, Ronnie Barker was a genius wordsmith, but Ronnie Corbett really sells it all with his reactions and the grumbling as he trudges back and forth to the misconstrued issues from the customer's list. RB is probably an odd job labourer in a local builders or doing some building work nearby. Not great with words, but good at carrying stuff around, clearing the site, etc, and going to get supplies.

As it always makes me feel better by watching others reacting to this comedy😂.There is quite a few sketches of two Ronnie's that I like , plus a lot of different sitcoms as I watch a lot of different types, and sitcoms with Ronnie Barker in them, lol. Like (Open all Hours, Porridge, Going Straight sequel to Porridge and Clarence), which only did 6 episodes, which is quite hilarious for him playing a character which is slightly blind and being a removals man that moves furniture, but he makes a mess of it by getting muddled up. All six episodes of Clarence are on CZcams, which you and your dad may have fun watching someday. As my dad likes watching Ronnie Barker also.😊😁🎸

    • @neilwilliams2907
      @neilwilliams2907 Před 7 měsíci +1

      It's not illegal to have sockets in a bathroom - "Is it illegal to have a plug socket in the bathroom in the UK? Not necessarily; for a start, BS7671 (the Wiring Regulations) isn’t law - it’s a technical standard, although the HSE advises that installations which either comply in full with BS7671, or are no less safe than a fully compliant installation, are likely to comply with the relevant bits of the law. So it wouldn’t necessarily “illegal”, and furthermore BS7671 (and the statutory Building Regulations) aren’t retroactive - i.e. if you’ve got a socket in your bathroom in a position where it would be prohibited by the current version of the Wiring Regs but was allowable in the contemporary regs when it was installed, you don’t necessarily have to rip it out but probably couldn’t add a new one in a similar location.
      The relevant provisions of BS7671 are:
      The zonal system for bathrooms, which classifies different areas of the bathroom based on its proximity to the bath or shower tray. Zone 0 is the inside of the bath or shower tray, Zone 1 is the area above the bath or shower tray extending to the ceiling or a height of 2.25m, and Zone 2 extends 0.6m horizontally from Zone 1.
      Regulation 701.512.3 allows 230V socket-outlets in bathrooms, provided they are at least 3m from the boundary of Zone 1.
      So you could in principle have a standard socket-outlet in the bathroom if it’s more than 3m from the bath or shower tray, which isn’t possible in many layouts (particularly in older housing in cities)."
