A short interview & clip back when they promoted Lord of the rings. First couple seconds has them talk German. Later on the interview is dubbed. Enjoy and feel free to rate / comment.
This video was uploaded in 2006. Damn. Freaking 9 years ago. And the movies are so old now, too! Imagine the LotR movies came out from Dec 2001 to Dec 2003! I am getting old...24 years old here (lol). Still the best movies I have ever seen to this day. A masterpiece of film history. The cast, the directing, the score, (obviously) the story - thanks to Tolkien. Everything was perfect.
I can feel all of the nine become friends. The Cast from The Hobbit is pretty cool and talendet, but THE NINE had their friendship and you can feel it the whole movie. Sry for my English, no native speaker.
I'm German and even though the guy has lived in Germany for a long time, he has a heavy accent and his grammar isn't quite flawless. Still, it's always hilarious to hear English people speak German. Peter Ustinov and Christopher Lee are actually fluent and have dubbed themselves in German versions of animated movies they starred in, like Last Unicorn and Disney's Robin Hood.
Dom: "I was born in Berlin. I lived in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Münster about eleven years. Then I came to -didn´t really understand the name of the city- along with my brother -Matthias?-.." Billy: "What´s your name?" Dom: "My name is Dominic. What´s your name?" Billy: "My name is Billy." Dom: "Very nice!" Billy: "How are you?" Dom: "Uhm...Fine, I´m a little tired and my head aches..." End (don´t hit me for my bad english...*g*)
Aaahh!!!
It's much easier to learn a foreign language when you are younger because your brain is developing and so is your palate. that's why high school language courses don't always turn out so well for most kids because one they teach it backwards (grammar first instead of speaking and listening first) and some of the kids' brains just can't handle learning all that new stuff at such a later developmental stage.
Dominic was born in Berlin and lived in Germany for eleven years untill he moved to Manchester with his parents and brother. Billy has lived all his live in Glasgow ^^
Guys, what you didn't anderstand was: I've lived in Düsseldorf and Münster and that I come to... maybe Esslingen(?) and than I came witn my Brother Matthias. But these Accents, adorable!!! I like the part, when Dom talks about the little, helpless Hobbits and all Billy has to say is: yes! uuuurrrr! NICE !!!
@Jaykaylayhayfay our movies dont have voice overs, its just in interviews, and most of the time we have just subtitles. but the real movies are dubbed.
A quick glance at the comments brings up: Dom: "I was born in Berlin. I lived in Berlin, Düsseldorf and Münster about eleven years. Then I came to -didn´t really understand the name of the city- along with my brother -Matthias?-.." Billy: "What´s your name?" Dom: "My name is Dominic. What´s your name?" Billy: "My name is Billy." Dom: "Very nice!" Billy: "How are you?" Dom: "Uhm...Fine, I´m a little tired and my head aches..." End
omg, das is einfach großartig!!!!!!!!!!!!!! das deutsch is nich perfekt, but because my english isnt perfect, and it might sound same "strange" hearing me talk english, 5 stars!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
Das must doch genug gewesen sollen?
@Jaykaylayhayfay Some voiceovers are very good - but you are right...the original is always the best. (But I'm glad that the movies are dubbed - because than you can understand the movie completely - and you can enjoy the pics...without reading subtitles.) ^^ I'm from Germany
hi, for everyone who was german or is from an eastern european country, it's probably easier to learn english because of certain similarities in the languages themselves. It is said the the closest language to english may in fact be german, so that might be why you find it so much easier. You actually don't need an accent for it, as it's somewhat straight forward, which is probably the only reason it's easier.
@unrecordable Yes, it all started with Indo-European, went on to Germanic, West Germanic, and there split into Anglo-Frisian (which developed into English) and German. And in 1066 the French conquered England and a lot of people began to speak French. Hence the French vocabulary in the English language . PS-Good for you! I hope you do :D It is very convenient to know more than one language, trust me ;)
@jadeewtf actually SuperJuli101 is right...german has a more complicated grammar which makes it harder to learn than english, english is actually pretty simple (and to give you an example: you use THE in english but in german you have to choose between DER,DIE,DAS(m.,f. and neutr.);engl. YOU gets used regardless of whom you are talking to,german differenciates between DU and a formal SIE;...), maybe you should just trust use when we tell you that we found english to be very easy to learn ;)
@Kajfjg Believe it or not, but most of us Germans are indeed able to read subtitles. Still, it's much more comfortable to sometimes watch a movie without having to read all the time. Also, you miss a lot of a movies details if you constantly stare at the bottom of the screen. As for me, I'm fairly fluent in English and therefore watch most of the American movies in their original language.
@SuperJuli101 I think a LOT of languages are more difficult than English :) German, Finnish, Russian, Italian, French...I think that's also why English is the international language. If we all had to learn chinese I can't imagine what would happen in our schools.
@Vita1892 I speak English and German and I think I also now quite some French and Spanish. What I meant was that there are definitely more similarities between English and French then between English and German (as ryerdesadhe suggested). I don't by any means want to say that once you've learned English, you'll be able to speak French. Just that there are far more similarities concerning words and perhaps some other things (it's not like French and Spanish which are actually very much alike).
@saskewoo Well...as far as I know, English was originally a Germanic language. Then I think it's somewhere around 1066 when the French spread their Frenchness into English. Oh and I commend you for learning multiple languages. I want to do the same thing
He says:" I was born in Berlin, lived in Berlin, Münster and Düsseldorf for 11 years and then I came to New Zealand with my brother Matthias(?). Billy asks:"Whats your name and how´s it going?" Dominc answers:"Good, I´m a bit tired, I have little headache"
I moved to another place in germany ^^ Yeah, I don't really like this language, but its a fact that english is very important today, so I'm happy that I learned it in school. I like for example russian ^^ Maybe I just like hard and strong languages (just because of the sound) and because of this english is not really my favourit ^^
@deadmemoriezs are you aware of the fact that voice-over is nearly always done by actors? and what about the work of actors who do the voice-over in animated films? that requires proper acting too. aaaand, to defend the germans here: they actually do very good voice-over work and besides you can watch almost every english film in the original language as well in big cinemas. and by the way...all the germans i know are practically fluent in english and can speak french and spanish pretty well too
Haha, I love German. It's a LOT easier to learn than French, I'd say. And it's basically just Low German plus some Celtic and French words (and some Old Norse) and some altered pronunciation (largely due to French). But I'm taking French right now, not German, but I can still pick up bits if I hear them and read what they mean. German is considered a "harsher" language here because of all the glottal sounds, but it's not too different. I'd say Dutch is worse, lol. And I like Dutch too.
Sein Deutsch ist einfach süß. Genauso wie die beiden
> süß
sus
"25 pfund"
"nicht schlecht"
die beiden sind so süß ❤❤❤

Check the comments for translations... there are several in the meantime.
In the first 30 seconds, they speak German. After that it was translated.
@SuperJuli101 I agree. I learn english and german too, and german is much more difficult

English people always sound so cute in German ^^ XD I ask myself how I sound talking in English ._."

what do they say at the start? does anyone know? in english?
thanks. lol, i love them both. :):)
This really helped me out, thanks a lot;) I like German. Too bad I took french-classes instead of german XD
Omg are you still there
Wikipedia says his first language is English, though.
Funny, to here them talking in my language! ^^ (And strange!! LoL)
@Namaechan chill. It's my opinion, and I'm really not gonna discuss the pros and cons of subtitles and voice overs with you or anyone else.
@SuperJuli101
i am slovenian and i agree, german is way more difficult than english...
