in 2019, when i first came across your videos, i was in a hospital overflow unit waiting for a psych ward bed to open for suicidal intent. i spent 11 days in that overflow unit without proper psych care… and binged your Sims videos. that (along with copious amounts of Starbound lol) got me through. your vids came through to me in a time i really needed some twisted Sims cult content and have stayed with me. i can’t thank you enough.

My story is very similar!! I lost one of my mother figures in spring 2019, and the entire month of april was an intense grieving period for me and I barely left my bed. binging Jim pickens videos brought me so much joy and comfort during that time (oddly enough lmao).
I’m so glad you are still here. I can’t imagine how much you’ve had to overcome since then, but I’m so freaking proud of you for staying regardless. 🤍🫶🏻
The best part about Kevin’s content is it’s easy to binge watch over AND OVER again. Like I finish the sims playlist…and start again. No complaints. Take your time!
Never forget, this man dropped out of high school, battled health issues, and worked his socks off to build a youtube career and bring joy to his viewers. I have nothing but respect for Kevin.

I started watching your content about 5 years ago and the first video I watched was Sims 4 with "Urp the forearm god" and then the crazy neighbor Jim Pickens moved in and caused so much chaos, had to hit subscribe. Glad I got to watch all the crazy things Jim has been up to over the years. I fecking love ya.
Oh gosh, it's insane how fast time flies. I remember when he uploaded his first few videos on this channel and then his first sponsor. It's crazy!

Kevin I've got to say, in the 15 years you've been grinding on this platform you have never fallen off. Not once have I ever seen a Call Me Kevin upload and thought "oh he's still at it huh..." It's always a delight when you upload. You really do have a lot to be proud of.
I actually did this once when I came back to his channel and saw the views he got compared to his old videos...But then I watched his new ones and they're just as good, if not better. ((Plus also not to say he gets bad view counts, just if you compare to his GTA video's you'd think comparatively)

I found your channel at a very low point in my life, being stuck in a horribly draining relationship during lockdown. Your videos were the only source of actual, genuine laughter during that time and they were running constantly - cooking, cleaning, showering, sleeping… they never missed and your effortlessly relaxed and sympathetic self is extremely refreshing to experience. I have never stopped watching your videos since. I’m in a much better place now, but your content will stick with me no matter how I feel. Take all the breaks/time you need!

I found you back in 2020, when I was at my lowest point. I was 14, being tossed from foster home to foster home. I remember only looking forward to one thing, getting home from school and watching your youtube channel. You have brought much needed joy to my life and millions of others. I usually never comment on videos but this one really touched me. I have nowhere struggled as much as you have from what I can see and I’m very sorry for that but I can vouch for the fact that even when I had my darkest Ever days, I’ve looked upto this man to feed jim Pickens some potion which turns him into the ruler of his basement workforce and he made everything feel alright in my life :)

I get the feeling of jumping from home to home (fellow foster child here 👋). It’s always so stressful to not know where you’re gonna be but it’s content like Kevin’s that can be support mentally until things get better. Something that happens to me daily might really be harmful to someone else, and that's ok. Struggles for everyone, is just that, struggles. The important thing is to know that you can get through it. Your worth it, other's do care, never forget that ❤.

The fact that you are going to one a week is still amazing. We love you so much and having in our lives has made us all better for it. You dont need to be famous or huge or have millions of subscribers to be loved and cherrished, and you managed to have both. Youre amazing and we will never forget you. I can promise you could release a video at 87 years old and if im alive, ill be on youtube specifically to watch you. Man, i cannot understate how much youve done for us, not only in the community youve created, but outside it by influencing youtube as a whole since the machinima days. I have no idea how you ended up where youre at now, but i can absolutely see all the effort you put into being there. And i for one, appreciate every second youve spent making us happy. Its going to be hard finding someone to replace the hours of joy you brought us, but i really genuinely dont want you to fret about a thing. Youve already changed our lives for the better. I found those videos around 2019, but they were what got me hooked. I've been faithfully watching every video since then and I've probably gone back and watched most of the uploaded videos. Those Comedy Night videos almost got me in trouble at my job. I could barely contain my laughter

@@SylviaRustyFae I have a fond place in my heart for his Sims 2 escapades with Vidcund. Always makes me laugh. Aside from the obvious stuff he did in The Sims stuff, I would definitely have to say his Project Zomboid videos are my favorite. The longer ones he did with Max on his other channel, DONTCallMeKevin are absolutely brilliant and I think really show how much fun he was having! Another one I always go back to is his Oblivion playthrough of the Dark Brotherhood quests. It's so hard to name a true favorite, because I have so many!!

Several of those are vids i enjoy a lot too. I also enjoy his Zomboid with Max vids even tho usually i dont watch collab content as much bcuz its usually hard for me to hear over everyone talkin over each other
But Max and Kevin are always grt together and none of the loudness like with the Irish Lads, who i do enjoy watchin but just too intense usually xD

Been watching you since I was 10 back in the cod Machinima days and I’m 22 now Kevin, growing up watching you has been great and like you said doing it since 2009 your effort, dedication and persistence is some of the many things that we as your fans love about you. 2nd, I've been suffering from a chronic pain type diagnosis (different thing, but very comparable) for just past a year now, and def feelin the hopelessness/despair. any pro advice?
I find it extremely worrisome how similarities I'm having with him. It was like 30 became a very unlucky number. Any problem you might of had became buffed by 40% or more. The most frustrating part if not finding all the causes. That what been taking the longest time figuring out, some are obvivious but the ones tha aren't are infurating as all hell.

It amazed me back then and everything you've done since has proceeded to amaze me just the same. Speaking as someone with multiple health issues, I understand the struggle. And I can only imagine your fatigue with this position. You deserve all the praise in the world for everything you've done and an easy rest that you've more than earned over the years. You have a seemingly endless amount of videos that will keep us entertained long after you're finished with CZcams. Hell, I still rewatch a vast majority of your videos because they always make me laugh. Thank you for providing me with so many laughs for so long, for sacrificing your physical and mental health so that others can smile, and for sharing pieces of yourself to the world over such a long period of your life. Yeah, in handsight the fact he at one point could post a video a day its kinda mind blowing. Its not surprise he cant do it anymore and it makes perfect sense that it was during the pandemic when he lost his mojo. Its a bit weird to think about for me since i started watching him in 2020, dont think its possible to pinpoint when exactly he started to lose it since he always gave his best. Still, i get it, once he let go of the routine all that fatigue he was holding on to wear him off at last. If he had said hes is tired and wants to do wahetever he feels like i would think its totally warranted, if you been doing this sort of work since your teens (not to mention running his own store at the age peole usually are in college, i could never) and manged to build such a big following you more than earned your right to take it easy for the rest of your life.
But instead he saying he unsatisfied with the sort of content hes doing and wants to minize it to increaze its quality. What he said about wanting to be more creative really let me thinking. A youtubers job is rarely recognized by how creative it is. Maybe if they do essays or something like that, but not with gaming channels. And thats cause such channels dont usually worry about that. Many just play the game, make some wetty remark every so often and get millons of views that way. And theres nothing wrong with that. Its a mistake to undertimake the work entretainers do, im sure most people wouldnt be able to do the same with such success even if they wanted to, and like you said the value of his videos is that is entertainent that will always be there if you want to return to it (and there so many of them that theres a bunch i haven seem) and that way it becomes timeless.
Thats a lot in itself, its enough for someone to be able to deal with the pressure of entretaining hundreds of thousands in a daily basis. But Kevin wanted more than that, to do things "a little bit diferent". He gave his own spin to the same old format and naturally build a community around him. And that community make him a part of their routine. Which goes back to the main issue. Seems like, one his work became routine, it became tedius and he lost creativity because of that. And even though most of us would be fine just seeing him do whatever for twenty minutes every other day he wanted to make it fun for himself too. Gotta respect that. And the way he talks about retiring when in reality hes just limitng his content to one day at week. Something lots of youtubers do but for Kevin that means "stepping back" Kinda insane to think about. Really, its all about taking away the pressure that comes with the job. To make it feel like a hobby. Thats genius in a way. Everyone talks about making your hobby your work but nobody tries to make work into a hobby, exactly the sort of backwards thinking that make Kevin content what it is.

I'll be honest I fall asleep most nights listening to your videos and I find great comfort in the familiar accent whenever I leave ireland for holidays or for work but I can only imagine how tired you must feel. Being your own boss is amazing but it makes time off feel harder to achieve because no one is telling you when you need to take that time or how much time you can take, I imagine it's incredibly stressful and I am so proud of you for taking this step and putting yourself first. There's so many youtubers that you end up being obsessed with for awhile and watch all their videos but eventually your interest fades. That's never happened with you Kevin. Your content always provides me with entertainment and happiness and I constantly rewatch your old videos. You never get old. I remember I discovered you from your fallout NV series years ago. I laughed so hard there were tears in my eyes. And I laughed the same way with so many of your videos since. A lot of your videos are my comfort videos, something i can watch again and again to put a smile on my face after a long day. And i'm not the only one who feels this way.
And i think a big reason is because we can see the dedication, hard work, and love that goes into each video no matter how simple it seems on the outside. As bittersweet as it is, im so glad you're taking a step back to preserve that creative spark.

I relate to this situation a lot. It gets VERY exhausting over time if you're trying to make great content. Being so much worried about quality is simply the tough way, and you need rest, which kinda is not possible in youtube, otherwise you'll se your numbers go down, which means less money, but if you are just able to accept it this way, it's way more enjoyable be a "youtuber". It's like over time we need to force the creativity out more and more, and that simply doesn't work. Enjoy your live and do what you like, Kevin.
