Consider this a vote for "Guve us more of this content". As someone that used to be a magician, this was some of the best moments in my history with magic. The study and practice of moves that may NEVER be performed but still may pave the way to a golden idea you create later. Old books still have a lot to give us in the magic community. I'd love to see this format as a segment. Do more magic theory, routine creation, etc. I love it and keep up the good work!

I own two copies of this Ottokar Fischer book for some reason, it was really fun to read along while watching you work through this. What I love is that because you are so great at solving puzzles in general, you possess patience, and you really need patience to read these old books. I own tons of old magic books and I often give up way too soon. This video inspired me to be more patient, rake over the words, physically attempt what is being asked of me, and to keep it in my mind that the author is intending to communicate something that they themselves have made work. Rad video, more of this sort of thing, please. Also agree- magic from a long dead magician- kinda ours to play with. Thanks Chris!

I've been watching you for 7 years and got hooked early on watching your magic tutorials and cardistry videos, which is when (at 43 years old) started getting excited and obsessed with magic. I've been inspired by your magic skill, and jealous of your ability memorize me with your slight of hand. I want to say that don't think I have ever run across this type of video about magic. Tutorials are an experience where someone has mastered an effect and provides insight on the technique. Same true for purchased downloads. Leaving one feeling like it is impossible for me to reach a level of competency in the video and often feeling discouraged. This video is an insight, that even an amazing performer like yourself, can feel discouraged, confused, frustrated, in learning a new trick and technique. Discussing the "length people will go to pull off an illusion" and the details you mention like "tailoring the technique to suit your own abilities", and the repetition and practice required, are great messages. A tutorial might demonstrate and mention these things, but to actual see the process of learning, tweaking, and repetition, was a very satisfying experience. I also like your take on "organic" magic. Magic can be cringe (coin purse), but your thoughts on EDC and what people might willing to accept in certain situations is something I think about lately. I can kick myself for spending money on silly gimmicks.... I'm really focusing on skill these days, which is something that seems to be of topic in the community.....getting back to classic magic and less on weird tricks. This video was great, inspiring, funny, and validating of my own magic journey. Please consider this content and format in the future!! P.s. I was busting my knuckles with a deck of cards trying to get Ben Earl's "Hoff Shot" to flow while watching this... there are playing cards all over the floor......

Even though we knew how you loaded and it went a bit wrong... it's early enough in the trick the audience are still in the "intrigue" and following instruction stage so theyre a bit distracted AND if they see you tying the knot weirdly it kinda looks like you're trying to keep it taut for the coin to stay in there as youre tying it, imo. Good trick!

That was a great video for showing the process, Chris! I almost feel like i could learn it myself. I do take issue with how the coin gets loaded into your hand-it feels super clunky to just tilt it like you have been. I think the intent is (somehow) to do the tilt while tying the knot, but I can't quite see how that would work either. It's a cool trick, and I could easily see it as an opener to another coin trick. Thanks for showing it!
