      Yep, drove through there last month, stopped at a McD’s and it was SWARMING with homeless people. As soon as I got out of my car to walk inside a guy came up and immediately begged for money. I was like, “dude, I’m broke, I make like $30,000/year tops” and he stormed off mad. 😅

    Makes me sick to my stomach. Decades of neoliberalism has resulted in obscene wealth and rampant homelessness in its wake. Sadly, there is no end in sight. We are stuck in a 2 party system that's completely beholden to oligarchs and corporations. Something has to change. This is a failure of the system, not so such the individual. COVID-19 and the "stimulus" bills amplified the crisis of wealth inequality. Knowing that so many people are subject to such systemic violence makes me very bitter. It's all by choice. These are the results of policy choices, which We The People have little to no say in.
    Keep up the great work! People need to see and feel this. People need to be uncomfortable. Something has to give!

    • @V.W.A
      @V.W.A Před měsícem +3

      @OnlyInLasVegas You're the one who needs to do your homework. The stimulus bills were helpful temporarily for the working class but overwhelmingly benefitted the 1%. If you actually paid attention to the overall economic impact of those bills, you would be able to see the obvious. They were a massive upward transfer of wealth. The numbers don't lie, neither did the bills themselves. If you actually took the time to read or study it, we wouldn't be having this conversation.
      In the end, homelessness still increased, especially as time went on. The rich became much richer, the poor became poorer, many small businesses shuttered, our ongoing crisis of wealth inequality was exacerbated, and corporations like Blackstone, who spent millions lobbying those bills, were able to capitalize heavily, further compounding the devastating economic impacts.
      The COVID stimulus bills served as lavish gifts for the rich and corporations, who benefitted disproportionately compared to the average person.
      We witnessed the largest upward transfer of wealth in human history between 2017 and 2021, and the COVID stimulus bills were a major factor. Rampant homelessness is a byproduct of such trash legislation, even if it was delayed, as in this case.

    Man, it's so sad and disheartening to see such a large quantity of homeless people out on those streets..and the ones living under the tunnels and flood channels..and seeing them trying to collect things of value from the garbage to sell is just so 😖😖😔😔 It looks so abandoned & barren, definitely no signs of the exciting bright fun that Las Vegas is more commonly known for. It's nice that you're giving them coverage/exposure so as to help spread awareness about this bleak situation and I really hope it gets better over time 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    You know I was born and raised in las Vegas. Born in 1963.
    Las Vegas had 2 high schools when my mother graduated from Rancho High School in 1959.
    They had 8 high schools when I graduated in 1981.
    So that is 6 new high schools in 22 years..
    So from 1981 until 2023 . There are 89 high schools in Las Vegas .
    That is 82 high schools in 42 years..
    So where did these people come from??
    Not from las Vegas..
    And Las Vegas did not have the tunnels. The flood control system they built with the tax payers money. When I was growing up.
    So Cesar’s palace got flooded out back in the 80’s or 90’s. Don’t remember what year. But Cesar’s palace was built in a wash.
    So they started building this flood control system.. and now they have 35 thousand homeless people living in flood control system..
    So it is the city’s own fault..
    Maybe they are hoping for a big flood to flood these people out.
    I don’t know what they were thinking..
    But the people should have never moved to las Vegas from the start.
    So if they are homeless? Maybe they should go back to where they came from.. ya think?
    I do..

    • @WarHawk-
      @WarHawk- Před 29 dny

      A large percentage of the population moved to Las Vegas seeking employment, especially in the construction industry, and either stayed because they remained employed in high-paying jobs or stayed because they 'lost' everything had and had no way to leave.
      Back in the mid -'80's you were required to obtain a 'gaming' ID card before you could get hired for most jobs. If you ever got arrested for anything by METRO (Metropolitan Police) they would confiscate your 'gaming' card AND your license/ID which made getting another job extremely difficult, and make it impossible to purchase a plane. train, or bus ticket out of Las Vegas. Unless you had family or relatives that could help you, the only option available was to start living on the streets and hope you could find a way to leave someday.
      I lived for a little over 5-years in Las Vegas and never drank or gambled (made a vow when I arrived to not fall into that trap) and I lived fairly well. Daughter graduated out of Basic High in Henderson then joined the Marine Corps. After she left I moved back to California for better jobs and cooler weather.

    It is everywhere..... I lived in Portland, OR for a chunk of 2022 and that city is overrun with homeless folk, most on drugs really badly. I became homeless myself because people kept letting in these drug addicted homeless into the apartment building I lived in so I would get woken up every other night from their loudness and got tired of it, no pun intended, and would go sleep in my car down the street. I quickly got sick of Portland being such a mess, didn't renew my apartnent lease, and started driving to other places and camping in my car after I got a storage unit to hold the stuff I didn't want to haul around in my car. I went from Portland to Seattle to Denver to Bay Area to Salt Lake City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, and now Southern California where I have been for past 7 months. Everywhere has a ton of homeless folk, some worse than others. For me Portland, Seattle, Vegas, and Phoenix were the worst in terms of people harassing and getting in my business & being aggressive and on drugs.

      Absolutely brother Tony. I created a video of VB a couple years ago and posted it on my channel too. It's a constant battle and it feels hopeless, but if we all act locally to help our peoples, then we can make a difference.

      @@TheLaughingLion I agree ‼️during the pandemic I helped a 75 y.o. Homeless man original from vilcaBamba valley ,Ecuador@ relocate to “no man’s land “ Venice/Santa Monica border providing him shelter,food ,supplies ,clothing ect eventually while being featured on local news he accepted housing (operation home key Lahsa) while visiting him on my bicycle & helping him a motorized scooter cart cut me off & crashed into me.

    Excellent video. My hometown of Sacramento, California has an increase of 68% in homeless to over 10,000. Does anyone see light at the end of the tunnel for homeless ?
    I personally only see this crisis increasing to even higher numbers unimaginable. With millions of illegals exacerbating it by taking resources from our citizens. As we struggle to provide for our families, ourselves may we all be grateful for our shelter.
    May we have strength and resilience in difficult times. from the Oregon Coast

    Man, when you consider the amount of money that is in Vegas with the extremely wealthy, it’s hard to see & understand how there is such a gulf in the haves & have nots!!
    I understand that that some people have made bad decisions in their lives & that’s why they don’t have money but for it to be so extreme that some people & their families will never have to work again for another $ while others literally can’t afford to put a roof over their head or feed themselves or their families is tragic & not everyone on the street deserves to be, some people are simply just down on their luck & have just had a rough time.
    Sadly, it seems like a worldwide situation where the richer get richer while the poorer become more destitute.
    This is the real American dream!

    • @TheLaughingLion
      @TheLaughingLion  Před 6 měsíci +1

      for the increase, likely the increase in overall population in Las vegas caused the increase. This city is becoming a big city with big city issues.
