  • In today's adventure, we're exploring the abandoned Yellow Dog Village in Worthington, Pennsylvania. Established in the early 20th century as a coal mining community, this village was once home to miners and their families. Progressively abandoned over the decades until becoming fully abandoned in 2011 when the last resident moved out, it has transformed into a hauntingly beautiful relic of the past. Join me as I delve into the echoes of a bygone era and uncover what's left within the abandoned structures of the Yellow Dog Village.

Love this one. I enjoyed the fact you stopped and read items and actually allowed us to see them. The family pictures made me want to cry.

Regarding the hole in the floor, the first floor was heated, usually via a coal or oil stove. The heat would circulate up to the second floor via the stairwell and the hole in the floor. It didn’t work very well.

The boarding house with the kids stuff in it probably started out as a boarding house when it was built. In later years it was probably turned into a regular home when there was no longer a need to have a place for single miners

What a great idea! Charge people to let them explore. And it keeps the history alive. So sad to see wedding and family photos left behind.
