    Albania used to have that same problem with the betting and gambling shops everywhere but Edi Rama outlawed them some years back. Actually the guy that used to be the major owner of those disappeared last year. They think he was murdered but they don’t have a body yet.
    Now casinos are only allowed in major hotels.

    3:20 Hey jay, I’ve been watching some famous travelers over the years in CZcams, and what I’ve learned is that in these cases it’s best to ask beforehand. A “How much money would you take me for over there?” would help in this case. In South American countries most taxis don’t have meters from what I’ve seen in other vloggers. So what they do is ask beforehand to avoid being ripped off. They will still try to rip you off anyway but at least in that way you can negotiate down the price if it’s reasonable for your budget.

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah  Pƙed 2 měsĂci

      We did ask before hand the price, from 3 different guys - who were obviously all in cahoots to fix the price and not negotiate. We should have walked from the bus terminal a couple blocks but at thet point we were so exhausted I didn't have the energy to deal with that. But thank you for pointing it out the best options in future, we will be sure to be more vigilant. It's only the first time this has happened to us, we've always had or negotiated fair prices in other situations. Thanks for watching!!!

    You seem to jump into conclusions a bit. About being busy, cleanliness, quiet ... It is not the best of logics to see a lot of cafes and say the town is not busy just because you're not in the "right" time of the day, for instance midday.
    Podgoritsa is a dull place tourist-wise.

      During the summer MOST of the CITIZENS of Podgorica are on our Adriatic seaside! It's close! And few degrees colder than in Podgorica. And summers in Podgorica are on par with Sevilla, Zaragoza, Florence, Athens, Madrid, Mostar, Skoplje, Tirana etc. Very hot! So we in Podgorica during the summer are either on the coastline OR on some of our BEAUTIFUL mountains. Or if we can't go anywhere then we are under the ACs during the hottest part of the day. Even during the summer there's beautiful buzz in the evenings in Podgorica. Most of us have our cousins living there in the mountains of Montenegro. For example i have 2 uncles living in northern Montenegro, in the fantastic mountain village on 1500 meters above the sea level. Village that literally looks like you are in Switzerland and they cover themselves during the nights when sleeping like it's winter, even during the July and August, while in Podgorica even the nights are too hot sometimes during the summer!
      But all these talks how there's not a lot of people about in Podgorica, in the middle of the hot summer day, on Sunday. 😂 I am thinking to myself, come back in October, November, December, etc. and walk a bit in the early evening or early morning when people go to work. You would have to deal with tens of thousands people and crazy traffic. There's like 100 000 cars in Podgorica. Podgorica is much bigger than second biggest city of Croatia Split, and 2,5 times bigger than Mostar in Bosnia and Hercegovina. Podgorica metro area is 250 000 people now. Split is like 170 000. Mostar is like barely above the 100 000.

    • @BelgradeArch

      @@JayandSarah I have relatives living in Podgoritsa. They say the traffic is crazy in the rush hours and it is near impossible to find a parking space downtown during business hours and in the evenings. I somehow believe them since it is similar throughout the Balkans.
      Evenings might be in different time there, say after 9, or 10 pm.
      Anyway, if there are a lot of cafes, somehow there should be a lot of people around who enjoy them. And in Podgoritsa they are locals, not tourists.

    • @JayandSarah
      @JayandSarah  Pƙed 16 dny

      @@BelgradeArch for sure they would be locals, Podgorica does not seem to have much tourist interest in it. Agreed, probably at 10pm on sunny nights the pedestrian zone would be busy with people just like in many places.
