  • This video took me a long-ass time to get around to finishing. Here's CAVE's rare one-off PC-based hardware for Deathsmiles II!
This was an experiment gone wrong for them on a few fronts. It was riddled with bugs and fixes at release, getting all the way up to a version 4.5 iirc. They offered this hardware as both a rental and purchase, a first for the company. While not their first foray into 3D graphics, it was lackluster, and didn't really contribute to the game like most of their normal pixel art style. The game wasn't great either; it was very short, with only a few stages, and popular features from Deathsmiles like the variable difficulty select for each stage was removed. As a result of all that, there are very, very few of these boards floating around.
Pretty much every issue was corrected in the 360 port, Deathsmiles IIX. I highly recommend you go check it out! It's an excellent, and very approachable game, and serves as an apology to the fanbase. It makes up for everything wrong with the arcade port.

It always sucks to hear about these shipping woes man, I worked for UPS doing next day air during college, when I see the repackaged boxes like this it always gets me sweating.

Even though it runs well on TTX3 multi, it's cool to see the original hardware and art for once!
