Would they have the oringinal boats functional so they can lower them every cruise voyage to get a feel of what the passengers on the oringinal Titanic went through i think that would be cool if they could do that
Regarding classes, second class had pretty direct access to first class areas, mostly for crew and also for the surgery, which could easily be tweaked to make them more passenger friendly; same with promenade separations, notably on the boat deck. Third class had direct deck access to second class C and B decks from the exterior aft that were just locked during travel. Then of course, crew had access to all sections through Scotland Road, so a couple modern stairwells and a P/S elevator pair or two would make interior access pretty universal without disturbing the original look. For accommodations, it would make the most sense to have a few replica "model" cabins of each class for guests to tour but not actually stay in. The actual cabins would be fitted with modern amenities, perhaps in a period style. There will probably be fewer or them overall, but remember the engines on Titanic were massive, not to mention the coal bunkers, compared to modern diesel architectures, so there will be a lot more room to work with. Much of which might go to onboard entertainment features or a proper museum. Just like modern ships have different levels of accommodation, there will likely still be "classes", just without the separation for hygiene purposes.
Romandisea Titanic in China is exactly that, a whole theme park next to a river with a full scale exact replica of the Titanic, and it was actually being built, there was development pictures online and all that. However just like Titanic II, the project went on an indefinite hiatus, and there have been no new updates in a while about wherever it's going to resume, and I think the company deleted the main social media page for the project.
@@bggsz4 it wasn't gonna be an exact replica cause they skipped most of the part that's underwater. they started building around D deck. and the pictures didn't really look very accurate at all.
As far as the class system, I can imagine a system where all classes have access to the whole ship (like modern cruise ships) most of the time, but that there are particular days or times when the classes are restricted to their own facilities. One day per crossing for example the gates can be locked and everyone is restricted to their own class' dining, recreation, and deck areas. Some things could be time restricted, like limiting the first class smoking room to first class passengers after dinner each night, but letting everyone spend time there during the day. I'd also make privileged access part of the perks of buying a higher-class ticket, so if you're first class you're guaranteed a reservation in the first class dining room every night if you want it, but passengers of other classes are offered the remaining seats and rotated so that as many non-first class passengers as possible get to experience it. That's the best compromise I can come up with to keep the class-segregated feel of Titanic while still giving modern passengers the experience they want. Different subject entirely, but is it part of the modern safety regulations to have the lifeboats be both bright orange and visible on deck from off the ship? They're done fairly respectfully to the original design and aren't too stark a contrast, but there must be something that can be done to make the ship look more like an original Olympic-class liner.
Bright orange lifeboats low to the waterline is indeed a safety regulation. The only ships I know of that got an exception to this rule are the Queen Mary 2 - being an ocean liner operating year-round in all sea conditions, her boat deck needed to be placed higher up - and the Disney fleet, which got a special request granted to have their boats painted yellow. I don't think it's far-fetched for Titanic II, if it ever gets built, to have black watertight doors placed over the lifeboats to hide them from view. These doors can be opened electronically, hydraulically, or manually, thereby giving them fail safes over their fail safes, and can better protect the boats from large waves. All the while, they will help maintain Titanic's original lines. It's a win-win.
I think here's why it's not finished: How would it function as a cruise ship? If it's a near-exact replica it's not going to have all the extra fun things we find on cruises, and sitting in a state room or walking a deck over 3 or so days... It'd be different if there were a demand for point to point travel. Something would have to be included for people to do.
He did say that they are adding bars and casinos onto the new S deck. I mean its the Titanic. you would be booking a cruise on this for the nostalgic factor. but It wouldn't be all borning at all. i mean it would have modern amenities like WiFi, Bars, Casinos, Swimming areas, etc.
yeah the modern deck should add some stuff to do. titanic was originally built as an ocean liner and its main profit was ferrying immigrants to the new world.
Maybe Carnival should try to buy it. I bet they would make bank if they did. My husband I spent over $2000 on our Carnival cruise this summer not including our flight. It was so much fun! If you want to have a lot of fun on the Titanic 2 then Carnival should get involved with it somehow. 😊
I was reading an article about Titanic II a few months ago. They said it was in process of being completed. I saw on the the Blue Line sight that it’s still waiting for finish. They had said they stopped because of Covid 19 & they had a list of people who wanted to sail. I would love to see this ship! They would make a fortune if they left it as a museum.
I figured covid probably slowed things down with it. I would love to go on it! Titanic is one of my favorite movies and it would be so cool to cruise on the Titanic 2! I know it’s not going to be exactly the same but it looks like it’s going to be similar. 😊

Thanks for making one of the more sensible videos about Titanic II. While it would be a stunning ship to walk through and explore, the financial viability really is a struggle. Out of all your ideas, I imagine the best strategy would be to have it serve as a floating museum where people can get a taste of what it was like to be on the titanic for the day. I think for the diehards there should be options to actually spend the night on the ship, but any travel the ship does should be limited to just being enough to simulate what being out at sea was like before returning.
They could make 3rd class/2nd class state rooms but modify it a bit. Like they will have a bunch of space considering the engine room won't be as big. So they could add more room to those state rooms and a private bathroom in such. Also some first class cabins didn't have private bathrooms either so they could add those as well for all the cabins. And they could add modern like hotel like rooms (but make look like the 2nd or 1rst class cabin but more room a with modern stuff added to it and handicap accessible stuff as well obviously) as well for people who need handicap/accessible rooms because they have disabilities insuch.
maybe their death will persuade the many other rich people who visited or were thinking of visiting the wreck (before oceangategate) that the safest and most interesting way to experience the ship is to actually build it.
Titanic 2 would be a brilliant ship to build and would make its money back in a few years, genius idea I would leave the 3rd class the way they are but obviously add TV's. Great video my friend.

Im a huge Titanic Fan but I still would not like the idea to rebuild Titanic 2 as acurate as possible. People nowadays want entertainment and I the Titanic for mordern standards has no entertainment on the ship. Obviously because it was a Oceanliner. People back in the days used the ship to travel and not for vacation. I do think Titanic 2 should have the main rooms, the dinning rooms, the grand staircase and stuff like that but when it comes to accommodation, thex should totally scratch the idea of replicating all rooms in all different classes. They should rather have an indoor museum which shows some rooms from the real Titanic. Lets be real, third class and second class would be really boring after the first 2 days because all you could do was sit, talk with people and wait till the voyage is over. Even on the first class you would get bored after a few days. After you saw everything on the ship, you gonna want some real entertainment. Back in the days it was totally normal to talk with strangers for hours but nowadays nobody does that anymore. It would need some modern rooms and maybe IF someone ever attempts to build the Titanic for real, they should check out some ships from the Cunard Line. The Queen Mary 2 for example does a pretty good job. It keeps the essentials from the old ships but at the same time it gives modern people enough entertainment. In my opinion they can totally modernize the Titanic and bring it to nowadays standards as long as they keep the essentials. Maybe they could build some authentic rooms for a different price but besides that, the rooms should give every passenger a good and inviting feeling. Also you dont want to sleep with strangers in a room like people did in the third class back in the days. Thats totally a no go. The reason to go in the Titanic mainly would be, because it actually gives you some real ship vibes again, which only a few ships from the Cunard Line offer. But I dont think that the Titanic 2 would sail long enough if it was 1:1 as the real one. At first mostly rich people would travel with the Titanic 2, to get som publicity. After that, ship ethusiasts and Titanic lovers would travel with it. Who would travel after them with the Titanic 2 if it was 1:1 as the real one? I think the majority of People would not spent their vacation on the Titanic 2 if she wouldnt be modernized.
That's what I think. Main lounges/dining rooms/staircases the same, then some rooms for museum purposes (wireless room, some bedrooms, etc.). I think that a very small number of passengers would like to try traveling in (mostly) historically accurate rooms, so maybe have just a few of those from each class. Things like the Turkish bath could be kept similar but host different activities, while spaces like the squash court and gymnasium would probably best be converted for modern sports/exercise or different activities. I bet they could successfully fit an outdoor pool or sports area either somewhere on the boat deck or the poop deck. Most modern ships have a theater space -- I imagine they'd be able to find a way to fit a stage or something into one of the larger lounges. In any case, the ship wouldn't fit THAT many passengers considering its "modest" size by today's standards (assuming many of the rooms especially in 3rd class would be expanded).
People get modern everyday. Right?? Old and original is still like and loved by certain generations at least. Example in chattanooga the old train cars which are renovated hotel rooms are far from modern and people love them…..so much that the property was recently purchased and now being redesigned by someone out of Europe. Gone are the reasonable prices of yesteryear. Glad I stayed when I did. Nostalgia is a powerful draw..
I think you have to sacrifice some historical accuracy, and not just for the # of lifeboats. How much fun would it be to board a ship that only a 1/3 you're able to actually go through? Plus, we live in a different world now compared to back then. It'd have a lot of competition even if it got built and intended to sail. Kind of like "Why go on a rebuild of a ship from 100 years ago when I can go on something totally new?"

You have to consider a few things about space. All the cargo, spaces fore and aftboiler rooms and crew accommodation areas on the original Titanic do not apply to Titanic II. Those areas above the waterline can be turned into more accommodations that are affordable to all What rule is it that the new ship has to mirror the original's dimensions so close ? I could go on but you get the idea.
You know its possible that demand for the third class might not be a problem, with the growing complexity of modern life and all the distractions and excess there is such a thing as people 'digitally detoxing' and maybe in the 21st century 'getting away from it all' means having less. Just less stuff and less distractions. I wouldn't mind a 5 day voyage across the Atlantic to get to the US for a few days ( maybe fly back) I think that would it would be a relaxing and enriching experience, I just hope they don't stuff Titanic 2 with all the cheap modern entertainment eg fruit machines and arcades as seen on cruise ships, I hope its a little more old school and basic so people talk, play and interact together.
Fruit for thought! People can access 1st class smoking room and Grand Stair Case but you have to pay a separate fee from your room cost and can only view it before the ship sets sail

There absolutely should be a Titanic II. The most beautiful and elegant ocean liner ever made. However I feel the liner should be built and used to sail as the ship will just decay if left as a floating museum and frankly would not fit the legacy of the original.
I would ditch the “exact” historical accuracy and give the ship a mix of modern and accurate. For example, give everyone access to the entire ship. As for third class cabins…give them modern features…comfortable but small accommodation with bathroom and TV. Charge a lower fare.Just like what modern ships have today. Everyone eats in the main dining room and the Paris Cafe at set times as seen on other ships, but use the second and third class dining rooms as all day buffets. Include the Turkish Baths but also provide Manicure/Pedicure day spa offerings, indoor swimming pool as seen on the original ship along with an on deck pool. Gymnasium and Squash courts as-is but also include modern workout equipment along with the antiques. Totally new features…a casino, kids deck, (no doubt this ship will be popular with kids and families) of course music, films, and entertainment. For the parts that are spot on exact…the Grand Staircase and the library. Have a wireless room where people can play with the Marconi and send and receive messages between another crew run set in the ship or a station on land run by the cruise line. The main dining room…serve meals exactly as they were originally. The upper class cabins keep accurate but offer modern amenities. While this ship would of course do some transatlantic crossings, I think it would be better suited on shorter cruises….the Titanic 2 screams week long New York to Bermuda and back…Boston to Halifax with Maine and Canadian Maritimes ports along the way, and in the winter, do some Florida to Caribbean then off to France in time to do the annual “Titanic” maiden April voyage back to NYC to start Bermuda again. While a lot of people want to sail on the floating mega-cities….there is a market for smaller ships, the Titanic no doubt would be less crowded,but it still could be fun for families and relaxing for older cruisers. If the ship is successful….it is not inconceivable to add sister ships….Olympic 2 and Britannic 2.
The private promenade decks were essentially balconies. That’s what they were. They were open to the outside air and they were closed off from the main state room. What else would you call that?
Honestly, it doesn't even have to be a functioning cruise ship. It can just be a floating museum/hotel or something, as long as it looks identical to the real thing, complete to scale and with all the rooms for each class... if that's even possible. Making it a functioning cruise ship sounds great and all, but seems like a lot more work that could lead to more complications. Also I'm scared of it sinking again... then we'll have TWO Titanic wrecks in the ocean!
I’m making this comment before I watch the whole video, I’m surprised the Cunard Line doesn’t finance this project. I mean, seriously? They took over the WSL anyways. That would be a huge advertisement for the company alone. I honestly totally forgot Cunard still exists
If they did make a Titanic two obviously they would have to build it two modern standards for it to work long term unless it was just going to be a museum ship. But if it did get made it should be kept as an transatlantic ocean liner just like Queen Mary two in the Spirit of the original Titanic. Also keep the original designs of the Titanic but just just build them up to the modern standards of living like what you would expect to see onboard the Queen Maty 2 including the entertainment. If the ship was going to be put into service for passenger use the could just have the 3rd Class spaces kept more as a Titanic/Olympic class ship museum area or just keep the whole ship 1st and 2nd class if they did the class thing for continuous passenger use.
Yeah they should do all modern rooms with all modern amenities, with recreations of the suites for people who want to pay for a "first class" experience. Every other room should be Edwardian-era themed but have all modern comforts and amenities. As cool as an accurate recreation would be, I don't think it would make any money. There's just not much demand for a transatlantic ocean liner like there is for cruise ships. The ship also needs modern nightclubs and modern theater entertainment in addition to the upscale ornate 1st class dining rooms. Maybe have a minority of historically accurate rooms that people can choose if they want, but most of the rooms would be modern, albeit Titanic-era themed. The kind of rooms that the Titanic had and the shared bathrooms simply wouldn't fly in the 21st century.
I can't believe it HASN'T happened yet. Whoever gets it up and running is going to make a shit load of money off of it. There's still extreme interest in the Titanic to this day, and that won't ever go away I don't think. The money would be made back tenfold+. Interesting queries about the class system. If I had to guess, if/when this happens I think in all likelihood it'll end up being aesthetically like the Titanic, but with modern twists and without the original class system. I could see premium rooms being available and cheaper rooms being available (i.e. "second class"), but no division between the classes like on the original ship. If "second class" passengers can't see or use the grand staircase, I doubt they'd be interested. Remember that undoubtedly most of the passengers will be there for the novelty of it. So they need to balance allowing everyone who buys a ticket to explore the whole ship while also offering perks to those who pay for premiums. To me, that's fine. I mean, it's not like the ship is going to function like the original. It won't be coal powered and the bridge will be modern. So no reason other aspects of the ship can't have a modern twist too.
When it comes to dumb billionaire pet projects, I normally just shake my head. But I don't look at this that way... I think there really is a viability to this one. I agree, some aspects would need to be modern 'approximations', but you could still make the experience feel VERY close to the original product, even with different class configurations. And of course the modern version would need a modern gyro stabilizer, and it wouldn't run on coal, etc. And maybe they'd want to do something about the seaworthiness thing too, because I recall that part kind of ended badly. But none of those adaptations would detract from the experience... you could still make it an amazing overall experience, and I for one would definitely pay to take a cruise on it. And I don't even particularly like cruise ships.
First it was coming in 2016 then it was bumped to 2018. After that is was bumped again to 2022. Now it’s supposedly scheduled for 2028. The way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised it doesn’t see the light of day until the 200th anniversary in 2112.

I think what they might do with the class system, is that they might have time before departure that all three classes could co mingle and view all separate areas. Once at sea, the class system would then go into effect.
I think in the new modern deck where the modern lifeboats are I think there should be some kind of black door that will blend in with the titanics wall So the modern lifeboats on the lower deck will not be shown
If it's gonna be done it's gotta be done right. I say they build a replica of Titanic and completely modernise the whole thing but just make sure to keep the spirit of Titanic alive in the overall design. Basically an upgraded 21st century version of the Titanic. I think that's the best way to do it.
Check out the mega yacht "Nero". That ship is a great example of what can be done for the proposed Titanic II to make it both classic and modern at the same time. ✌🏻
In the middle of Berlin stands the rebuilt Prussian Royal Palace. It’s a museum called the Humboldt Forum, but, on three exterior sides it’s a faithful reproduction of the original centuries old palace with a bang up to date interior and usage with allowance built in for some historically accurate rooms. It cost nearly 700 million euro to build, a lot funded by everyday folk with some wealthy donors as well. Do the same for this ‘new’ version of the second ‘Olympic Class’ liner…make sure though, that it is bang up to date with modern accommodation and usage with access to realistic historically recreated rooms of interest, modern safety standards, engines and lifeboats, funnels that have the viewing platforms let into the black tops so they’re far less obvious, make it longer and wider, but on a scale that matches the long, lean elegance of the original ship with adequate sheer. Make her a real ocean liner with realistic and attainable fares and they will come. Obviously, the hull would aesthetically look the same with faux rivets, but it would be welded with a double skin and proper subdivision lengthwise and laterally running azipods and a bulbous bow below the waterline. Just the staterooms would vary in price, as on other ships, but access all areas would be the rule not the exception. The ship would be a success if it was built and managed correctly by a major line as a boutique experience, but it would have to be done correctly right from the get-go with the ability to be opened to the general public at a modest cost in ports visited. The Clive Palmer thing, like the personality himself, I long gave up on him and his ship. It was a stunt for him and nothing more….
I do wish that someone would give us an update on what is going on with the construction of Titanic 11. It will sail someday or definitely be put into display for the millions of people all over the world who are still fasinated with the RMS Titanic.. I sure that people would sail on it as a third class passenger if they had access to the entire ship. Otherwise people wouldn't want to pay the price to stay in the small two bunk third class and considering how much it is costing to build the replica of the beautiful RMS Titanic. The first and second class tickets will be outrageous.
If it were ever built - authenticity would be key - no cruise ship gimmicks - there are enough of those monstrosities for the pillocs. Nothing wrong with simply relaxing, eating well, reading books, playing cards and engaging in stimulating conversation, appreciating live classical music and living in an era where the pace was slower and the quality of human interaction much higher.
Seen at 2:15, I am wondering about the elevators. Will they have the beautiful gates as the old one did and will they be manually driven like they were back then or will they be all automatic elevators and the doors be regular glass doors with the painted gate like of art on them?
They should just make the passenger rooms upto modern standards, branding them as a “safe zone”, separate from the historic areas open for exploration. Then have a few exact replica rooms only for exhibition. That's because the passenger rooms are going to be private anyways, inaccessible to other passengers. Having the historical setting clearly distinct from the passenger accommodation, would save the company from having to constantly deal with passengers experiencing nightmares, claustrophobia, traumas and even psychosis, which could be triggered by having the passengers stay in a 100% accurate historic Titanic replica. Add alcohol to the mix and you can be certain that a few drunktards are going to be climbing up to the lifeboats. 😛 You want it to feel real, but NOT too real. The Titanic immersion experience should always be voluntary, with exit always in sight, otherwise the atmosphere would be just like stuck in a horror movie or a funeral. A short joy, or no joy at all.
Yeah, who wants to pay more than an airline ticket to stay down in the bottom of the ship. Also to make it more authentic get rid of the modern life boats, computers, satellite communications, weather reports, etc. All they should use is Morris code, and fog horns.

I think if third class was extremely good value as it would have been in 1912 then I think people would love to have a 5 voyage in modern times across the Atlantic to get to America have a short break there and then maybe fly back. I think I would be up for that slow pace simple voyage without all the modern distractions. Access to first class areas if you wear the correct attire should be a thing I think though.

Billionaires obsessed with Titanic?...... that went welll. Anyway. QM2 has an exemption for the lifeboat height. Apparently, she gets it because of weather conditions in the North Atlantic. The Class System doesn't need to work. A First class ticket - your room is large enough that you have a lot of private space. A 'Grills' cabin on QM2. A second class ticket - like Britannia class on the QM2 Third class - like a car ferry cabin. your own bathroom, shower and shitter, but you're expected to spend most of your time on the rest of the ship and just sleep there. Some are just internal rooms and that's it. What were third class facilties become things like the Buffet or bar - open to everyone. Second class facilities are a casual dining restaurant, where you don't have to dress up. First class facilities are the whole, Cunard Gala-Night affair with fancy dress code - and bookings for third class are an extra charge, on a later/earlier sitting. Maybe first a second classes alternate between sittings in the casual and fancy restaraunt. Class donates 'tone' rather than access, if that makes sense. There's a lot of doubled spaces on the ship. Smoking rooms, etc that can become things like a library or casino, or other amenities. Larger spaces like theatres may be harder to make but some spaces may also free up elsewhere. Slow rolling big diesels would make her efficient at a cruising speed of 22 knots, with the original boiler rooms now used as machine spaces for the auxiliary generators needed for the centre drive - for low speed maneuvering, air-conditioning, waste processing and other 'hotel' functions that didn't exist in 1912. t would also make her more damage tolerant. Albeit less of a popular place to be. If air travel gets taxed into the ground - liner travel might takeoff again. Especially for shorter routes (The North Atlantic being 'comparatively' quick at 5-7 days ) . That might be the only way one of these ships can provide a value proposition beyond 'travel on the Titanic (And don't get wet)' Wouldn't work as a cruise ship, however. although with compartively large deck areas I'm sure someone could turn the well decks into useable venues. The amenities would be very different.
Thanks for the update. But in his last interview (April 2020, I believe) he said the project is still happening and has been put on hold because of COVID-19. In addition, blogger Malcolm Oliver reached out to an anonymous inside source in 2022, who confirmed that the project is still happening. Even with that, I am not holding my breath anymore. I've been hyping over it for 11 years. I can't take it anymore. If he builds her, great. If not, I won't be surprised. Also, just for future reference, the deck name is pronounced "promeNADE", not "promeDAN".
Super tacky to make another titanic after what happened. They should name it Olympic, an actual successful version of the 3 Olympic class ships. Of course fit it out like the titanic, but don't give it that bad luck name. The Olympic was a way more badass ship, that survived a world War, collisions, and destroyed a German U boat. Makes way more sense to me.
Short answer: it’s not happening. The largest backer of the project was the guy who started the project. He’s since run into financial troubles. Construction hasn’t even begun, and it’s likely not going too. Meanwhile, China is supposedly building a to-scale replica of the ship, and construction on that one has begun.
I think the entire "class" structure should be abolished.. For replica sake.. I would say 1st and 2 2nd classes.. but charge the same. That's not any different than them abolishing boilers and steam engines and propellers.. some things aren't going to transfer over from the 1912 era... it just can't..
my personal view is that if they want people to STAY in it who aren't necessarily diehards, most of the rooms 3rd class rooms need to be modernized and/or reduced in number (so each 1 room is really 2 rooms of space, etc.). A few traditionally sized and fitted rooms could be left available for people who really want that experience. i'm conflicted though with what to do with recreational spaces that simply wouldn't see much use, like the gymnasium or the turkish bath, possibly the squash court as well. the engine room i have no idea what to do with but i don't think there are many WRONG answers here (whether they reclaim some of the space for other uses or keep it as is for museum purposes, etc.). OR change virtually nothing and just make it a giant museum that doesn't sail (like they attempted in China).
I think 3rd class is viable because it could be marketed as a hostel type accommodation for single travelers or since we are talking Titanic 2 what if 3rd class was used for field trips/ summer abroad programs I think that all classes should have access to the hole ship but make the difference in services provided
First Class ticket would be preorder tickets 2nd class would the 2nd wave of ticket and third class tickets would be discounted last minute tickets reduced price tickets.
I'm going to be honest I don't think anybody would have an issue getting on third class as long as the rooms have flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi and nice lighting I think it would be okay. You raise several very good points as always. Just to list off a few things, the last update from the Blue Star Line website was actually in December 2018, when they announced that V.Ships Leisure, one of the original groups contracted for the project, was back on board. Not that that really matters but just a minor correction. Also, the last update from their Facebook page was in March 2020, so again, it goes to show that the project was definitely still alive not that long ago. At this point it's a 50/50 in my book that, if this ship is ever built, Mr. Palmer will be involved. He keeps flip-flopping from one thing to the next and doesn't seem to be as focused on Titanic II anymore based on what I've seen. Besides being heavily involved in politics, he now has another eccentric idea to open a large car museum showcasing his vehicle collection. Some fellow commentators - including Palmer himself - have suggested that he may do this as a retirement project. Whatever happens, I wouldn't hold my breath. One thing you forgot to mention about the potential price tag for Titanic II, besides if a multi-millionaire or billionaire who is interested enough decides to build it, at around $500-750-million (a reasonable estimate for inflation btw), it's also not that expensive compared to the newest and biggest ships being built nowadays, which frequently swell well past $1-billion. In fact, for the absolute largest of ships such as Royal Caribbean's Oasis and Icon class of ships, the price is closer to $2-billion. So yeah: money shouldn't be much of an issue here. 3rd Class is definitely a crucial thing to be considered. I'd be surprised if the cabins - assuming they're recreated accurately - would garner much demand even during the initial hype. However, Palmer did say a few years ago when questioned that 3rd Class cabins would be more in line with today's standard cruise ship cabins. This will thus most likely be achieved by making the cabins larger and not having as many of them, which would explain why Titanic II's passenger capacity is slightly lower than that of the original (2,435 vs. 2,453). I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as they still emulate the general feel of the original cabins. For instance, I see no reason why they can't keep bunk beds. Making some of them into crew cabins is a good idea as well. Perhaps the biggest L here is the class system, as Palmer did say that class segregation would return. Granted, this isn't anything completely unreasonable: we still have this today on airliners: Economy class, Premium class, First class. Still, it'd suck to only be limited to sections of the ship. However, Palmer also said that this would be just for transatlantic crossings, and that the whole ship would be open for cruises. He was also open to the possibility of tickets that would allow you to experience every section of the ship for a voyage.
My frank thought is: there are only so many billionaires in the world, so if the Titanic enthusiast billionaire hasn't come out by now, it's probably because that particular billionaire doesn't exist.
I think what they'll do is make the second and third classrooms actual acceptable rooms and they'll just sell them at a less price it's there's not really going to be a class is done I don't think nobody's going to be banned from going to certain places on the ship is better not and that's going to blow up in their face if they do that that's not how people role anymore.
Yeah, the Edwardian era, especially in Britain, was still heavily classist. Class is still an issue today but at least on the surface we try to act like it isn't, so the kind of class restrictions the original Titanic had wouldn't fly. What they should do is accurately recreate the suites for people who really want that experience.

The ship has a lot more potential then just a cruise ship many people would love it as a day cruise ship maybe a weekend then then 3rd class rooms wouldn’t matter. I personally would rather have a cheap room just a bed and internet. If the ship stops making money on long trips it has the option to do short trips, paid tours and floating hotel all at once. But I think it will be making tons of money for years and probably sold out for years everyone in the world knows about titanic shit I never go on vacations but I would make an appoint to go on titanic.

I know I shouldn't... but this literally made me laugh out loud.
Regarding classes, second class had pretty direct access to first class areas, mostly for crew and also for the surgery, which could easily be tweaked to make them more passenger friendly; same with promenade separations, notably on the boat deck. Third class had direct deck access to second class C and B decks from the exterior aft that were just locked during travel. Then of course, crew had access to all sections through Scotland Road, so a couple modern stairwells and a P/S elevator pair or two would make interior access pretty universal without disturbing the original look.
For accommodations, it would make the most sense to have a few replica "model" cabins of each class for guests to tour but not actually stay in. The actual cabins would be fitted with modern amenities, perhaps in a period style. There will probably be fewer or them overall, but remember the engines on Titanic were massive, not to mention the coal bunkers, compared to modern diesel architectures, so there will be a lot more room to work with. Much of which might go to onboard entertainment features or a proper museum.
Just like modern ships have different levels of accommodation, there will likely still be "classes", just without the separation for hygiene purposes.
I think an exact non sailing replica museum makes more sense. That way more people can experience the ship without breaking the bank
Romandisea Titanic in China is exactly that, a whole theme park next to a river with a full scale exact replica of the Titanic, and it was actually being built, there was development pictures online and all that. However just like Titanic II, the project went on an indefinite hiatus, and there have been no new updates in a while about wherever it's going to resume, and I think the company deleted the main social media page for the project.

As far as the class system, I can imagine a system where all classes have access to the whole ship (like modern cruise ships) most of the time, but that there are particular days or times when the classes are restricted to their own facilities. One day per crossing for example the gates can be locked and everyone is restricted to their own class' dining, recreation, and deck areas. Some things could be time restricted, like limiting the first class smoking room to first class passengers after dinner each night, but letting everyone spend time there during the day.
I'd also make privileged access part of the perks of buying a higher-class ticket, so if you're first class you're guaranteed a reservation in the first class dining room every night if you want it, but passengers of other classes are offered the remaining seats and rotated so that as many non-first class passengers as possible get to experience it. That's the best compromise I can come up with to keep the class-segregated feel of Titanic while still giving modern passengers the experience they want.
Different subject entirely, but is it part of the modern safety regulations to have the lifeboats be both bright orange and visible on deck from off the ship? They're done fairly respectfully to the original design and aren't too stark a contrast, but there must be something that can be done to make the ship look more like an original Olympic-class liner.
Bright orange lifeboats low to the waterline is indeed a safety regulation. The only ships I know of that got an exception to this rule are the Queen Mary 2 - being an ocean liner operating year-round in all sea conditions, her boat deck needed to be placed higher up - and the Disney fleet, which got a special request granted to have their boats painted yellow. I don't think it's far-fetched for Titanic II, if it ever gets built, to have black watertight doors placed over the lifeboats to hide them from view. These doors can be opened electronically, hydraulically, or manually, thereby giving them fail safes over their fail safes, and can better protect the boats from large waves. All the while, they will help maintain Titanic's original lines. It's a win-win.
Like maybe put the poop deck bridge on the stern and have people play with the stuff up there like steer the ship wheel and the telegraphs

I think here's why it's not finished: How would it function as a cruise ship? If it's a near-exact replica it's not going to have all the extra fun things we find on cruises, and sitting in a state room or walking a deck over 3 or so days... It'd be different if there were a demand for point to point travel. Something would have to be included for people to do.

I was reading an article about Titanic II a few months ago. They said it was in process of being completed. I saw on the the Blue Line sight that it’s still waiting for finish. They had said they stopped because of Covid 19 & they had a list of people who wanted to sail. I would love to see this ship! They would make a fortune if they left it as a museum.

Thanks for making one of the more sensible videos about Titanic II. While it would be a stunning ship to walk through and explore, the financial viability really is a struggle. Out of all your ideas, I imagine the best strategy would be to have it serve as a floating museum where people can get a taste of what it was like to be on the titanic for the day. I think for the diehards there should be options to actually spend the night on the ship, but any travel the ship does should be limited to just being enough to simulate what being out at sea was like before returning.

They could make 3rd class/2nd class state rooms but modify it a bit. Like they will have a bunch of space considering the engine room won't be as big. So they could add more room to those state rooms and a private bathroom in such. Also some first class cabins didn't have private bathrooms either so they could add those as well for all the cabins. And they could add modern like hotel like rooms (but make look like the 2nd or 1rst class cabin but more room a with modern stuff added to it and handicap accessible stuff as well obviously) as well for people who need handicap/accessible rooms because they have disabilities insuch.

Im a huge Titanic Fan but I still would not like the idea to rebuild Titanic 2 as acurate as possible. People nowadays want entertainment and I the Titanic for mordern standards has no entertainment on the ship. Obviously because it was a Oceanliner. People back in the days used the ship to travel and not for vacation. I do think Titanic 2 should have the main rooms, the dinning rooms, the grand staircase and stuff like that but when it comes to accommodation, thex should totally scratch the idea of replicating all rooms in all different classes. They should rather have an indoor museum which shows some rooms from the real Titanic. Lets be real, third class and second class would be really boring after the first 2 days because all you could do was sit, talk with people and wait till the voyage is over. Even on the first class you would get bored after a few days. After you saw everything on the ship, you gonna want some real entertainment. Back in the days it was totally normal to talk with strangers for hours but nowadays nobody does that anymore. It would need some modern rooms and maybe IF someone ever attempts to build the Titanic for real, they should check out some ships from the Cunard Line. The Queen Mary 2 for example does a pretty good job. It keeps the essentials from the old ships but at the same time it gives modern people enough entertainment. In my opinion they can totally modernize the Titanic and bring it to nowadays standards as long as they keep the essentials. Maybe they could build some authentic rooms for a different price but besides that, the rooms should give every passenger a good and inviting feeling. Also you dont want to sleep with strangers in a room like people did in the third class back in the days. Thats totally a no go. The reason to go in the Titanic mainly would be, because it actually gives you some real ship vibes again, which only a few ships from the Cunard Line offer. But I dont think that the Titanic 2 would sail long enough if it was 1:1 as the real one. At first mostly rich people would travel with the Titanic 2, to get som publicity. After that, ship ethusiasts and Titanic lovers would travel with it. Who would travel after them with the Titanic 2 if it was 1:1 as the real one? What about the regular people that just want to spent their vacation on a ship? They have to decide between a modern cruiseship or the Titanic 2 that brings you back in 1912. I think the majority of People would not spent their vacation on the Titanic 2 if she wouldnt be modernized.
That's what I think. Main lounges/dining rooms/staircases the same, then some rooms for museum purposes (wireless room, some bedrooms, etc.). I think that a very small number of passengers would like to try traveling in (mostly) historically accurate rooms, so maybe have just a few of those from each class. Things like the Turkish bath could be kept similar but host different activities, while spaces like the squash court and gymnasium would probably best be converted for modern sports/exercise or different activities. I bet they could successfully fit an outdoor pool or sports area either somewhere on the boat deck or the poop deck.
Most modern ships have a theater space -- I imagine they'd be able to find a way to fit a stage or something into one of the larger lounges. In any case, the ship wouldn't fit THAT many passengers considering its "modest" size by today's standards (assuming many of the rooms especially in 3rd class would be expanded).
People get modern everyday. Right?? Old and original is still like and loved by certain generations at least.
Example in chattanooga the old train cars which are renovated hotel rooms are far from modern and people love them…..so much that the property was recently purchased and now being redesigned by someone out of Europe. Gone are the reasonable prices of yesteryear. Glad I stayed when I did.

I think you have to sacrifice some historical accuracy, and not just for the # of lifeboats. How much fun would it be to board a ship that only a 1/3 you're able to actually go through? Plus, we live in a different world now compared to back then. It'd have a lot of competition even if it got built and intended to sail. Kind of like "Why go on a rebuild of a ship from 100 years ago when I can go on something totally new?"

You have to consider a few things about space. All the cargo, spaces fore and aftboiler rooms and crew accommodation areas on the original Titanic do not apply to Titanic II. Those areas above the waterline can be turned into more accommodations that are affordable to all What rule is it that the new ship has to mirror the original's dimensions so close ? I could go on but you get the idea.
You know its possible that demand for the third class might not be a problem, with the growing complexity of modern life and all the distractions and excess there is such a thing as people 'digitally detoxing' and maybe in the 21st century 'getting away from it all' means having less. Just less stuff and less distractions. I wouldn't mind a 5 day voyage across the Atlantic to get to the US for a few days ( maybe fly back) I think that would it would be a relaxing and enriching experience, I just hope they don't stuff Titanic 2 with all the cheap modern entertainment eg fruit machines and arcades as seen on cruise ships, I hope its a little more old school and basic so people talk, play and interact together.

There absolutely should be a Titanic II. The most beautiful and elegant ocean liner ever made. However I feel the liner should be built and used to sail as the ship will just decay if left as a floating museum and frankly would not fit the legacy of the original.
I would ditch the “exact” historical accuracy and give the ship a mix of modern and accurate. For example, give everyone access to the entire ship. As for third class cabins…give them modern features…comfortable but small accommodation with bathroom and TV. Charge a lower fare.Just like what modern ships have today. Everyone eats in the main dining room and the Paris Cafe at set times as seen on other ships, but use the second and third class dining rooms as all day buffets. Include the Turkish Baths but also provide Manicure/Pedicure day spa offerings, indoor swimming pool as seen on the original ship along with an on deck pool. Gymnasium and Squash courts as-is but also include modern workout equipment along with the antiques. Totally new features…a casino, kids deck, (no doubt this ship will be popular with kids and families) of course music, films, and entertainment. For the parts that are spot on exact…the Grand Staircase and the library. Have a wireless room where people can play with the Marconi and send and receive messages between another crew run set in the ship or a station on land run by the cruise line. The main dining room…serve meals exactly as they were originally. The upper class cabins keep accurate but offer modern amenities.
While this ship would of course do some transatlantic crossings, I think it would be better suited on shorter cruises….the Titanic 2 screams week long New York to Bermuda and back…Boston to Halifax with Maine and Canadian Maritimes ports along the way, and in the winter, do some Florida to Caribbean then off to France in time to do the annual “Titanic” maiden April voyage back to NYC to start Bermuda again. While a lot of people want to sail on the floating mega-cities….there is a market for smaller ships, the Titanic no doubt would be less crowded,but it still could be fun for families and relaxing for older cruisers. If the ship is successful….it is not inconceivable to add sister ships….Olympic 2 and Britannic 2.
The private promenade decks were essentially balconies. That’s what they were. They were open to the outside air and they were closed off from the main state room. What else would you call that?

If they did make a Titanic two obviously they would have to build it two modern standards for it to work long term unless it was just going to be a museum ship. But if it did get made it should be kept as an transatlantic ocean liner just like Queen Mary two in the Spirit of the original Titanic. Also keep the original designs of the Titanic but just just build them up to the modern standards of living like what you would expect to see onboard the Queen Maty 2 including the entertainment. If the ship was going to be put into service for passenger use the could just have the 3rd Class spaces kept more as a Titanic/Olympic class ship museum area or just keep the whole ship 1st and 2nd class if they did the class thing for continuous passenger use.

Yeah they should do all modern rooms with all modern amenities, with recreations of the suites for people who want to pay for a "first class" experience. Every other room should be Edwardian-era themed but have all modern comforts and amenities. As cool as an accurate recreation would be, I don't think it would make any money. There's just not much demand for a transatlantic ocean liner like there is for cruise ships. The ship also needs modern nightclubs and modern theater entertainment in addition to the upscale ornate 1st class dining rooms. Maybe have a minority of historically accurate rooms that people can choose if they want, but most of the rooms would be modern, albeit Titanic-era themed. The kind of rooms that the Titanic had and the shared bathrooms simply wouldn't fly in the 21st century.
I can't believe it HASN'T happened yet. Whoever gets it up and running is going to make a shit load of money off of it. There's still extreme interest in the Titanic to this day, and that won't ever go away I don't think. The money would be made back tenfold+.
Interesting queries about the class system. If I had to guess, if/when this happens I think in all likelihood it'll end up being aesthetically like the Titanic, but with modern twists and without the original class system. I could see premium rooms being available and cheaper rooms being available (i.e. "second class"), but no division between the classes like on the original ship. If "second class" passengers can't see or use the grand staircase, I doubt they'd be interested. Remember that undoubtedly most of the passengers will be there for the novelty of it. So they need to balance allowing everyone who buys a ticket to explore the whole ship while also offering perks to those who pay for premiums. To me, that's fine. I mean, it's not like the ship is going to function like the original. It won't be coal powered and the bridge will be modern. So no reason other aspects of the ship can't have a modern twist too.
When it comes to dumb billionaire pet projects, I normally just shake my head. But I don't look at this that way... I think there really is a viability to this one. I agree, some aspects would need to be modern 'approximations', but you could still make the experience feel VERY close to the original product, even with different class configurations. And of course the modern version would need a modern gyro stabilizer, and it wouldn't run on coal, etc. And maybe they'd want to do something about the seaworthiness thing too, because I recall that part kind of ended badly. But none of those adaptations would detract from the experience... you could still make it an amazing overall experience, and I for one would definitely pay to take a cruise on it. And I don't even particularly like cruise ships.
First it was coming in 2016 then it was bumped to 2018. After that is was bumped again to 2022. Now it’s supposedly scheduled for 2028. The way things are going I wouldn’t be surprised it doesn’t see the light of day until the 200th anniversary in 2112.

I think what they might do with the class system, is that they might have time before departure that all three classes could co mingle and view all separate areas. Once at sea, the class system would then go into effect.
I think in the new modern deck where the modern lifeboats are I think there should be some kind of black door that will blend in with the titanics wall So the modern lifeboats on the lower deck will not be shown
If it's gonna be done it's gotta be done right. I say they build a replica of Titanic and completely modernise the whole thing but just make sure to keep the spirit of Titanic alive in the overall design. Basically an upgraded 21st century version of the Titanic. I think that's the best way to do it.
Have a few 3rd class rooms for the most dedicated but have standard rooms for everyone else with period style furnishing. The same for 2nd class.
Check out the mega yacht "Nero". That ship is a great example of what can be done for the proposed Titanic II to make it both classic and modern at the same time. ✌🏻

There would be no 1st, 2nd, or 3rd class. This went down with the original Titanic. All rooms will be first class luxury.

In the middle of Berlin stands the rebuilt Prussian Royal Palace. It’s a museum called the Humboldt Forum, but, on three exterior sides it’s a faithful reproduction of the original centuries old palace with a bang up to date interior and usage with allowance built in for some historically accurate rooms. It cost nearly 700 million euro to build, a lot funded by everyday folk with some wealthy donors as well. Do the same for this ‘new’ version of the second ‘Olympic Class’ liner…make sure though, that it is bang up to date with modern accommodation and usage with access to realistic historically recreated rooms of interest, modern safety standards, engines and lifeboats, funnels that have the viewing platforms let into the black tops so they’re far less obvious, make it longer and wider, but on a scale that matches the long, lean elegance of the original ship with adequate sheer. Make her a real ocean liner with realistic and attainable fares and they will come. Obviously, the hull would aesthetically look the same with faux rivets, but it would be welded with a double skin and proper subdivision lengthwise and laterally running azipods and a bulbous bow below the waterline. Just the staterooms would vary in price, as on other ships, but access all areas would be the rule not the exception. The ship would be a success if it was built and managed correctly by a major line as a boutique experience, but it would have to be done correctly right from the get-go with the ability to be opened to the general public at a modest cost in ports visited. The Clive Palmer thing, like the personality himself, I long gave up on him and his ship. It was a stunt for him and nothing more….
I do wish that someone would give us an update on what is going on with the construction of Titanic 11. It will sail someday or definitely be put into display for the millions of people all over the world who are still fasinated with the RMS Titanic.. I sure that people would sail on it as a third class passenger if they had access to the entire ship. Otherwise people wouldn't want to pay the price to stay in the small two bunk third class and considering how much it is costing to build the replica of the beautiful RMS Titanic. The first and second class tickets will be outrageous.

If it were ever built - authenticity would be key - no cruise ship gimmicks - there are enough of those monstrosities for the pillocs. Nothing wrong with simply relaxing, eating well, reading books, playing cards and engaging in stimulating conversation, appreciating live classical music and living in an era where the pace was slower and the quality of human interaction much higher.
It would be an absolute commercial failure then.
Seen at 2:15, I am wondering about the elevators. Will they have the beautiful gates as the old one did and will they be manually driven like they were back then or will they be all automatic elevators and the doors be regular glass doors with the painted gate like of art on them?
They should just make the passenger rooms upto modern standards, branding them as a “safe zone”, separate from the historic areas open for exploration. Then have a few exact replica rooms only for exhibition. That's because the passenger rooms are going to be private anyways, inaccessible to other passengers. Having the historical setting clearly distinct from the passenger accommodation, would save the company from having to constantly deal with passengers experiencing nightmares, claustrophobia, traumas and even psychosis, which could be triggered by having the passengers stay in a 100% accurate historic Titanic replica. Add alcohol to the mix and you can be certain that a few drunktards are going to be climbing up to the lifeboats. 😛 You want it to feel real, but NOT too real. The Titanic immersion experience should always be voluntary, with exit always in sight, otherwise the atmosphere would be just like stuck in a horror movie or a funeral. A short joy, or no joy at all.
Yeah, who wants to pay more than an airline ticket to stay down in the bottom of the ship. Also to make it more authentic get rid of the modern life boats, computers, satellite communications, weather reports, etc. All they should use is Morris code, and fog horns.
@@jeffk464 It depends if this ship going to be a cruise ship or a liner to get from A to B. I think if third class was extremely good value as it would have been in 1912 then I think people would love to have a 5 voyage in modern times across the Atlantic to get to America have a short break there and then maybe fly back. I think I would be up for that slow pace simple voyage without all the modern distractions. Access to first class areas if you wear the correct attire should be a thing I think though.

Yea it's 2023. To me the outer at a larger scale vn the same looks would be cool but inside more modern with a historic like feel. Cruise ships today hold 9k plus.

The Class System doesn't need to work.
A First class ticket - your room is large enough that you have a lot of private space. A 'Grills' cabin on QM2.
A second class ticket - like Britannia class on the QM2
Third class - like a car ferry cabin. your own bathroom, shower and shitter, but you're expected to spend most of your time on the rest of the ship and just sleep there. Some are just internal rooms and that's it.
What were third class facilties become things like the Buffet or bar - open to everyone.
Second class facilities are a casual dining restaurant, where you don't have to dress up.
First class facilities are the whole, Cunard Gala-Night affair with fancy dress code - and bookings for third class are an extra charge, on a later/earlier sitting. Maybe first a second classes alternate between sittings in the casual and fancy restaraunt.
Class donates 'tone' rather than access, if that makes sense.
There's a lot of doubled spaces on the ship. Smoking rooms, etc that can become things like a library or casino, or other amenities. Larger spaces like theatres may be harder to make but some spaces may also free up elsewhere.
Slow rolling big diesels would make her efficient at a cruising speed of 22 knots, with the original boiler rooms now used as machine spaces for the auxiliary generators needed for the centre drive - for low speed maneuvering, air-conditioning, waste processing and other 'hotel' functions that didn't exist in 1912. t would also make her more damage tolerant. Albeit less of a popular place to be.
If air travel gets taxed into the ground - liner travel might takeoff again. Especially for shorter routes (The North Atlantic being 'comparatively' quick at 5-7 days ) . That might be the only way one of these ships can provide a value proposition beyond 'travel on the Titanic (And don't get wet)'
Wouldn't work as a cruise ship, however. although with compartively large deck areas I'm sure someone could turn the well decks into useable venues. The amenities would be very different.
Thanks for the update. But in his last interview (April 2020, I believe) he said the project is still happening and has been put on hold because of COVID-19. In addition, blogger Malcolm Oliver reached out to an anonymous inside source in 2022, who confirmed that the project is still happening. Even with that, I am not holding my breath anymore. I've been hyping over it for 11 years. I can't take it anymore. If he builds her, great. If not, I won't be surprised.

Super tacky to make another titanic after what happened. They should name it Olympic, an actual successful version of the 3 Olympic class ships. Of course fit it out like the titanic, but don't give it that bad luck name. The Olympic was a way more badass ship, that survived a world War, collisions, and destroyed a German U boat. Makes way more sense to me.

Short answer: it’s not happening. The largest backer of the project was the guy who started the project. He’s since run into financial troubles. Construction hasn’t even begun, and it’s likely not going too. Meanwhile, China is supposedly building a to-scale replica of the ship, and construction on that one has begun.

I think the entire "class" structure should be abolished.. For replica sake.. I would say 1st and 2 2nd classes.. but charge the same. That's not any different than them abolishing boilers and steam engines and propellers.. some things aren't going to transfer over from the 1912 era... it just can't..
my personal view is that if they want people to STAY in it who aren't necessarily diehards, most of the rooms 3rd class rooms need to be modernized and/or reduced in number (so each 1 room is really 2 rooms of space, etc.). A few traditionally sized and fitted rooms could be left available for people who really want that experience.
i'm conflicted though with what to do with recreational spaces that simply wouldn't see much use, like the gymnasium or the turkish bath, possibly the squash court as well. the engine room i have no idea what to do with but i don't think there are many WRONG answers here (whether they reclaim some of the space for other uses or keep it as is for museum purposes, etc.).

They should cover the bottom boats with panels. Those are kinda low to the water anyways. Plus it makes the ship look ugly.
I think 3rd class is viable because it could be marketed as a hostel type accommodation for single travelers or since we are talking Titanic 2 what if 3rd class was used for field trips/ summer abroad programs I think that all classes should have access to the hole ship but make the difference in services provided

I'm going to be honest I don't think anybody would have an issue getting on third class as long as the rooms have flat screen TVs and Wi-Fi and nice lighting I think it would be okay. I mean it's the Titanic she can do what she wants to do trust me people will get on because it's different. Especially Titanic fans
Not to mention when you are on a cruise you really don’t spend much time in your cabin other than to sleep. You are too busy enjoying the activities on board as well as the ports of call.

You raise several very good points as always. Just to list off a few things, the last update from the Blue Star Line website was actually in December 2018, when they announced that V.Ships Leisure, one of the original groups contracted for the project, was back on board. Not that that really matters but just a minor correction. Also, the last update from their Facebook page was in March 2020, so again, it goes to show that the project was definitely still alive not that long ago.
At this point it's a 50/50 in my book that, if this ship is ever built, Mr. Palmer will be involved. He keeps flip-flopping from one thing to the next and doesn't seem to be as focused on Titanic II anymore based on what I've seen. Besides being heavily involved in politics, he now has another eccentric idea to open a large car museum showcasing his vehicle collection. Some fellow commentators - including Palmer himself - have suggested that he may do this as a retirement project. Whatever happens, I wouldn't hold my breath.
One thing you forgot to mention about the potential price tag for Titanic II, besides if a multi-millionaire or billionaire who is interested enough decides to build it, at around $500-750-million (a reasonable estimate for inflation btw), it's also not that expensive compared to the newest and biggest ships being built nowadays, which frequently swell well past $1-billion. In fact, for the absolute largest of ships such as Royal Caribbean's Oasis and Icon class of ships, the price is closer to $2-billion. So yeah: money shouldn't be much of an issue here.
3rd Class is definitely a crucial thing to be considered. I'd be surprised if the cabins - assuming they're recreated accurately - would garner much demand even during the initial hype. However, Palmer did say a few years ago when questioned that 3rd Class cabins would be more in line with today's standard cruise ship cabins. This will thus most likely be achieved by making the cabins larger and not having as many of them, which would explain why Titanic II's passenger capacity is slightly lower than that of the original (2,435 vs. 2,453). I wouldn't have a problem with this as long as they still emulate the general feel of the original cabins. For instance, I see no reason why they can't keep bunk beds. Making some of them into crew cabins is a good idea as well.
Perhaps the biggest L here is the class system, as Palmer did say that class segregation would return. Granted, this isn't anything completely unreasonable: we still have this today on airliners: Economy class, Premium class, First class. Still, it'd suck to only be limited to sections of the ship. However, Palmer also said that this would be just for transatlantic crossings, and that the whole ship would be open for cruises. He was also open to the possibility of tickets that would allow you to experience every section of the ship for a voyage.
My frank thought is: there are only so many billionaires in the world, so if the Titanic enthusiast billionaire hasn't come out by now, it's probably because that particular billionaire doesn't exist.
I think what they'll do is make the second and third classrooms actual acceptable rooms and they'll just sell them at a less price it's there's not really going to be a class is done I don't think nobody's going to be banned from going to certain places on the ship is better not and that's going to blow up in their face if they do that that's not how people role anymore.
Yeah, the Edwardian era, especially in Britain, was still heavily classist. Class is still an issue today but at least on the surface we try to act like it isn't, so the kind of class restrictions the original Titanic had wouldn't fly. What they should do is accurately recreate the suites for people who really want that experience.

I think it would look fine with balconies. At this point, I would jump at the opportunity to cruise on a real oceanliner that looked almost identical to Titanic.
No 3rd class, maybe just a few models for a museum. Second class should just be modern looking cruise ship cabins. First Class could look like original but you cant make money without modern TV, internet, and convivences. Everyone can go as they please and eat where they please. No turn of the century snobbery.
The ship has a lot more potential then just a cruise ship many people would love it as a day cruise ship maybe a weekend then then 3rd class rooms wouldn’t matter. I personally would rather have a cheap room just a bed and internet. If the ship stops making money on long trips it has the option to do short trips, paid tours and floating hotel all at once. But I think it will be making tons of money for years and probably sold out for years everyone in the world knows about titanic shit I never go on vacations but I would make an appoint to go on titanic.
