And playing for the ghosts of Pompeii, who died in 79 AD when Vesuvius (the volcano) destroyed their city and everyone in it.
Roger once said this is a 3 part piece about war:
1) The Buildup To War
2) The War Itself
3) The Aftermath
Kinda like the start of universe too, the bigbang, and all the things exploding, colliding, then all the stars forming and planets
Rick Wrights chaotic palming and elbow work is perfect.
i bet he could nail it time after time.
Early Pink Floyd.... from chaos to beauty...seamlessly.
One of Floyds "crazyer" but also most beautiful. Rick is fantastic at the keyboards. And David`s "singing", too much!!
Gong. Bong is something else.
Lol
He was probably smoking one before watching this
A GREAT Pink Floyd song from the 1960s is ASTRONOMY DOMINE (live) from the Ummagumma album. When I listen to this song, I close my eyes and envision traveling through outer space. As usual, David Gilmourâs guitar work is superb. The entire band is superb.
OK. Firstly, It's called a gong. Secondly, I want this song played at my funeral!!!. The first half is about my sometimes chaotic life, the second half, my ascension into Heaven, [ well, I'm hoping. I have been good! lol ] . This whole gig in Pompeii is fantastic. I have great memories of the time when I first saw it. This is my absolute favourite era of Floyd. There is a track called, "Careful With That Axe Eugene", that is in this Pompeii film, but there is an original studio version and various other live versions [played slightly differently every time] as well. My particular favourite version is on the album "Ummagumma", in fact the whole first side of that album has four live tracks. It has a beautifully atmospheric sound, with, shall we say, a little twist in the tail, but the quiet part is so soothing .Also, if you want to do individual tracks from this film, try "Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sun" . Pink Floyd, the masters of the soundscape!. And you Pope, are an absolute legend for reacting to this. YOU rock!
That's not quite a going. The end of Bohemian Rhapsody uses a gong.
@@williamjordan5554 what is it then? Iâve always called a gong a gong.
@@doscwolny2221 I'm not sure what those are.
@@williamjordan5554 so what is it then ? A gongette?
@@cosmiccat6708 Yeah.
Woowww...i love you Pope !
A Saucerful of secrets it's a Masterpiece !!!
The first part is a battle in war
In the second part the souls of the dead in war rise to Heaven
Peace today peace always !!!

It's about finding order out of chaos. Harmony out of discordance. It reflects my life. This is from Pink Floyd's late-'60s experimental phase.
The first era of Floyd I ever really loved :) You already know I'm here for it. Great performance! There are many wonderful live recordings of this one out there, all hit just a bit differently. Obviously, Pompeii holds a special place with such a quality recording. Check out "Set Controls for the Heart of the Sun" since you're doing some older stuff.
This performace is epic Bro, nothing else to say
Can't believe I am saying this, but watching your reaction and being a life long Pink Floyd fan, it would have been kinda cool to be one of the Ghost of the fallen who were berried in volcanic ash and burnt alive to sit in that empty stadium to have the Pink play a concert for me and to later have a great reaction from Young People like yourself who appreciate! GOD Bless Young Man!!
Nick Mason (the drummer) is touring playing this early Floyd music. In the US too I think. If you get a chance, do go and see. It is excellent. Oh, and he plays Echoes IN FULL!
Next 26 june Nick Mason and and his band ( A saucerful of secrets) at Lucca ( Italy ) in concert .
Floyd were so Avant Garde & adventurous in their early years, this is a perfect example. So wonderful to experience such unbridled creativity in this unique setting. Have noticed you have yet to do King Crimson, "In the Court of the Crimson King" , their first album in 1969 has been described by many as the first great progressive rock album. It features Greg Lake before he joined ELP, recommend "21st Century Schizoid man", "The court of the Crimson King" & "Epitaph" , enjoy the journey, cheers
One of their best gigs ever â€
I am so happy to see young people appreciate this!!
Just saw a video of multiple CZcams reactors who listened to Time. I think yours was the best reaction: ahhhh. Led Zeppelin...Pink Floyd!!???? đ€Ł
So, if you ever get a chance to go to Pompeii, GO!! All of Italy is amazing, and then there's the food đ!!! Love ya Pope! đâ€đ€
My first exposure to Pink Floyd maybe 11-12 years old
I stood on that spot in '86.
this might interest you: nick mason (the original drummer of pink floyd, the guy in this video) tours with a band called "a saucerful of secrets", playing early floyd-stuff.
"Aaaaaah" isn't exactly a word.
Gong.
Syd Barrett wasn't in the band anymore by this time. That was Nick Mason on drums.
Man I remember to listening/watching this back in 2000. This is by far their best performance IMO. Their songs take you on a journey. Nice reaction bro!
I love their early stuff so much, with them just experimenting
me and this man can literally be best friends. Am literally the same way with Pink Floyd, love seeing new fans brings chills
i'am a grown ass man and yet every time i watch and listen to this performance i fill up towards the end . Maybe because this will be the last song they play as the entire cosmos finally falls foul to entropy .
Loved this version! Itâs been a while since Iâve watched itâŠyour reaction and comments about the talent required to perform like this was right on. No other band on earth can play live with this much intricacies consistently blowing everyone away! My wife and I saw Roger Waters âUs and Themâ tour in Nashville in 2017, that concert was awesomeâŠbut a distant second to the 1994 Nashville tour of Pink Floyd at Vanderbilt Stadium! Great memories! RIP to my wife.

Careful with that axe, Eugene
A beautiful composition with a fantastic atmosphere. It is actually an anti-war song.
Just to clarify: the Amphitheatre of Pompeii was an arena building designed for gladiatorial games and sporting contests in this ancient city. It is the oldest known structure of its kind in the world (built in 80 BC) and has only been played by Pink Floyd (4 days without an audience in 1971), Frank Sinatra (without an audience), David Gilmour (two concerts to close the Rattle That Lock tour in 2016) and in 2018 King Crimson (one concert with an audience). None of the other musicians have played here.
In the (perfect) context of the Pompeii amphitheater it also evokes the destruction wrought by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 BC.
Or at least I associate it with that too.
In any case, the whole concert is epic.
here we meet again lmao
@@lubinlfb3563 ...and where else but Pink Floyd, right?
Its funny wen you take magic mushrooms and watch it,it was partly designed for that ,as alot of there early stuff was drug orientated, brilliant group of very talented musicians.
I'd like to imagine that there were plenty of ghosts in that stadium that day.
That was awesome to watch
15 Rick Wright chords to touch the world paradise!
Btw. Glad youÂŽve found PF.
You used to be able to see this whole concert as the âMidnight Movieâ at the theatre once or twice a year.
That whole double album took you on a trip!!!! Feel sorry for the one's who were high when they listened to it!
Getting into the serious stuff muh maaan.
Hi, you are so funny with the gong...!
The Greatest band ever..
i agree, but, in fact , we don't know what's to come. more over despite personal opinions lets not forget
the beatles , zeppelin, van der graaf genorator , eyc and so on.
Gong :)
More Cow Bells :)
Great reaction! Just found your channel, and I'll be subscribing. This evening I'm off to the Royal Albert Hall in London to see Nick Mason's Saucerful Of Secrets! The original drummer, now 78, with a (by all accounts) superb band performing only early (pre-Dark Side Of The Moon) Floyd material. Can't wait...
thatâs amazing, have fun đđż
What can one say about the gods that are PINK FLOYD â€
Nice!!!
The Gods - "We need someone to react to prog rock on this CZcams thing". Some other God - "Jon Anderson said this Pope dude appreciates our shit big time" The Gods - "Okay, Jon obviously knows what he's talking about. Let's go with Pope" đ
Ah yes, this the good shit my dude.
Smith, "Baby It's You"
Caraca irmĂŁo vocĂȘ viajou legal hein, isso Ă© pink floyd....
Check out the full Pompeii live in 4k on CZcams â
Bro I know these comments are cool but this is a crazy song to react to if ur new to pink Floyd đđđ
dogs of war an angry side of Pink Floyd you have never seen
LSD SONG
Anyone who claims Pink Floyd didn't take drugs has never seen this
Sure, grass. But no longer Psychedelics since the Syd era.Gilmour and waters have both stated this.
Bro try Nile song by pink floyd, great reaction
hi, first of all i'm also a floydhead.
i don't agree with nile, there's deeper floyd tracks to focus on.
also it leans towards the psychedelic genre, where there's also more representative songs, like jef.airplain's white rabit.
Mind Altering. Soul Altering
Which one's Pink?
Rick Wrights off key out of tune erratic palm and arm smashing is bollock perfect
I love 70s rock, but this is just pretentious prog rock. Some groups wanted to kind of meld rock and classical music sensibilities. Punk rock was a rebellion against this kind of stuff.
Billy boy if you believe this is pretentious but punk is not you need to check yourself
Amico cambia pusher...anzi., non ti drogare affatto
