@glen Davis. This may have been answered long ago, but VG's are Vortex Generators. They've been around since the '80's, and as Mark mentioned in the video, they assist in maintaining airflow over control surfaces.

Great video. We used the same philosophy for our 206. There's a mountain of STCs, and many of them don't apply to the restart 206s. We ended up with a brand-new 40-year-old airplane, and it works great.

Before the work began were there tests for corrosion? My father-in-law was a very experienced pilot and plane owner. He bought a 150 for his grandson to learn in and build hours. Being very cautious, he wanted his trusted tech to go over everything. He found substantial corrosion in significant areas. Oops. The prior owner did not hide any defects. It took a long time to sell at about 35% of fair market value.
How deep does one go when considering and evaluating a candidate for this level of upgrade and modernization?
That is an absolutely beautiful modernization. The updated paint gave it fantastic looks! The interior is beautiful. Someone spent a lot of money very quickly. The result is a modern plane with advancements for a much lower price than new!

Those instrument s with screen were unheard of at that point it still had the 300 hp in it. The nose had the wheel buble design so looking kinda like a ship. I don't fly yet I appreciate your video. Money always matters & if you can get the plane you want for 1/2 as much why not? As a non-pilot my concerns with an older plane would be air-frame integrity & the wiring. With my luck the pins that hold the wing supports in place would be corroded so I would pay good $$$ to have it thoroughly inspected

Real locks that you open with your key and not just anybody's key...Good one!
No screwdriver or butter knife entry either?...Does the key stay in ignition after plane the starts?...LOL
Determining factor for new or old for me is cost. 206 owners seem to be extremely proud of the planes...They're asking for a lot...Recently seen a wrecked one on (apparent nose wheel collapse) Trade-A-Plane where the seller was asking $145K...All the pics were of the plane damaged...I assume the asking price was for the damaged plane....Ridiculous!!!

The H model is 92 gallons with no bladders and 88 gallons usable like a 1979 to 1986, so 10 more usable gallons than this particular plane. When all the good stuff gets expensive, the older rougher stuff gets dragged out of the hangars and restored and some get tried to be sold as they are looking rough. What this is a sign of is a shortage of inventory. Low supply, high demand, increasing prices. There will never be an increase of supply because all the plane are already out there and new ones are expensive. If demand keeps up the prices will slowly increase especially if the dollar is worth less, which it is.

I am curious to know what kind of STOL and cruise performance they get with those mods.

This is the most important thing, why didn’t he just give the numbers that the owner gave him? What the hell is the big secret?

Very nice plane... and for a small 750k (more or less) you could have one just like it.

Hi Jon. It's an unused road at the airport that goes to where the new hangers were going to be built, but thanks to regulations, never will be. It gives us a more scenic backdrop and fewer distractions.

That is a sharp plane. I like the idea of suicide doors so it's easy for the passengers to enter the back.

Not only good for passengers, but you can take the seats out and haul just about anything you want back there!

So roundabout what would that plane cost, mods and all?

    • @skywagonuniversity5023
      @skywagonuniversity5023  Před 2 lety +1

To buy it just like that was about $380,000

Thank you very much. I am getting the private aviation bug, starting to save my pennies. Are there any resources you would recommend for someone like me? Presume I know what a plane is and what’s it’s for an that’s about it lol. Thanks so much for your reply.

I'd keep an eye on Trade a Plane, Barnstormers, Controller and a few others. Google "Aircraft for sale" and they all will pop up but those are the big three. .
