Love this video. Love this album. Love this sound. It just makes me happy. It's so unique and original. Merrill is a god damn genius. Pretty hot too. Especially when she smiles while singing in this video. You can tell there is nothing else she would rather be doing than performing her songs. She gives me fuzzy feelings in the belly.

+downeybill actually meril says that she's heavily inspired by african music. this is something inspired by. not exactly it! i love tune yards. but i can totally hear the african influence.
Jessica Grab technically appropriating music isn't the same as conforming to the dominant culture of music as in the case of the marsalis family. But truthfully all American music originated in the slave tradition...so it's really more acculturation at this point. we are all experimenting and learning from each other.
This makes me so happy! Music outside the box.

Saw them in Denver a few days ago... I can't stop watching this even if it doesn't come close at all to letting them blow up my mind in front of me.
I really enjoy listening to them, they're awesome. I first listened to them while I was reading the chapter un City Of Glass, by Auster, where the main character rapidly descends into madness, great background Music for that!! so powerful.

Wow! This is so stimulating. One of the best creative bands of the century. It´s too bad some people are so narrow minded they cannot value high quality, elaborated music and innovative ideas. Big music enterprises washed their brains with Lady Gaga, and that kind of drilling stuff. A+ for tUnE-yArDs!

Absolutely no chance of this going mainstream. It's just too "out-there", creative and rebellious.The populace eats up and enjoys whatever they're fed, as long as they don't have to think much about it, so big labels will keep pushing disposable plastic music to fed the masses. For they too are disposable and plastic...

When she sings, her voice is so powerful, but then she speaks and she is so sweet and humble. I noticed this at one of her shows a few years ago, and I find it so absolutely wonderful.

They opened for David Byrne at Monmouth U., nonstop from beginning to end. The woman I was there with, who I am having an affair with knew all their music and was dancing like a crazy lady. We both turned 60 about the same time, I've known her since 8th grade. She took me to my first Talking Heads show in NYC in 1978. I married the wrong person as did she. Let the days go by..and remember, every word fights for its life!
