    Personally I've found the Thai Immigration and visa process for a long time stay very easy.
    For those that don't like it? Get a lawyer or agent. The alturnative is to go home, work and save.

    I came for holiday in 2006 at 43 and realized I loved it. I told the friends I had met I was moving here and they scoffed at the idea. I went back to the states, quit my job and started looking. Three weeks later I sat down with the CEO of a small company and hashed out a deal. Three months later I moved out here to handle all SE Asia and ME customers. I never looked back. A company like Integrity Legal helped with the business visa and that was easy.
    It is true finding local work is not financially viable, but there are lots of international companies looking for english speaking expats to help them in SE Asia.

      I'm happy that it worked out for you 🙏 I'm nearly 40, and living in California. I visited BKK back in 2006 and miss it there. I'd like to relocate to Thailand and leave everything behind but teaching English in the long term doesn't seem feasible. Do you know of any companies looking for Americans in entry level roles? If you can point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it 🙏

      Hi @@Kn1ghtMan I am afraid that you need to have more to offer than a warm body before a company will invest in relocation. It is best to specialize in something that you can sell to a company in exchange for the privilege to live overseas. You mentioned teaching - get certified and a couple years experience in the US. Foreign teachers are welcome here at private schools. I am considering retiring and doing some teaching part time myself.

      Teaching. To make any real money you can maybe live on but not retire. You need a Masters degree and a teaching certificate to be in the top 10 list for a good university that pays well enough to survive. Lucky I have both, well couple of each and more, but being retired at 50 and had a plan 12 years ago to retire at such age I don’t need to work. Teaching is something I would consider if bored. I’m not bored yet. 😊

    so in other words,, easy ,,, if your rich ..

  • @thebangkokconnection4080

    Not just difficult getting the initial visa that has to be renewed annually with reporting in to immigration every 90 days but expensive and rules changed on a whim.

    I'd be interested to hear more about benefits and responsibilities / risks of setting up a company here in Thailand.

    What is the best Visa Option for an American Disabled Veteran, at Permanant 100% with the VA?
    The money and stability is right, but doesn't quite hit the age requirements, being less than 50 years of age.

    • @commanderbishop
      @commanderbishop Před rokem +1

      Wait till your 50. And honestly if your a disabled veteran that needs VA services. Don’t move here. There are no free services or benefits in Thailand and even though medical is very affordable compared to western standards if you need care or prescriptions etc that VA would provide for free your just going to burn money here trying to get that care which won’t be the same. If your just collecting a check no worries but 50 that is typically the magic number unless you have a lot of cash to invest in Thailand or maybe maybe one of those fancy Thai elite visas could help. Other than that a job in Thailand, good luck with that one or open a business here. There is no simple answer except make a plan, stick with it and when the time is right execute it. Took us 12 years and I just turned 50. We executed our plan and are retired living on our investments income.

    I will be contacting your office next month to help in a Thai retirement visa. I have an income of USD$25K/month I hope that would be enough. Looking forward to setting up a consultation with your office. Thanks

      To echo those who have responded, just purchase the elite visa for 1M Thai baht. Easy peasy. No need to hire a lawyer.
