Champs Elysées was a variety show in french television presented by Michel Drucker and broadcast live from January 16, 1982 to June 1985 and from January 1986 until 29 June 1990. The show owes its name to the fact that it was produced live from the Pavillon Gabriel, located on avenue Gabriel, along the avenue des Champs-Élysées in Paris. In two hours, each issue of the show welcomed a guests and reviewed the musical news of the moment, not to mention the theatrical or cinematographic news.
Limahl was a guest of the show twice. Here as a solo artist and in 1983 as a front-man of Kajagoogoo (on my playlist as well).
Comments:
The football match mentioned in the interview was FA Cup Final. It took place on 18 May 1985 at Wembley Stadium and Manchester United won with Everton 1:0, scored in extra time. Michel Drucker then said Limahl looks like Everton midfielder with number 6- Stevens. He meant Trevor Steven (here is a picture to compare, if he was right: www.sportphotogallery.com/foo...
This clip is VERY SPECIAL for a few reasons:
1. It is the first Limahl's performance with shorter hair and the last one before the mullet was completely removed in Los Angeles.
2. It is the last TV performance with Mandy Newton (as far I know).
3. It is the last TV performance (known to me) until 1986, when his new album came.
4. Finally (or maybe primary) it is a LIVE PERFORMANCE not lip sync (only Limahl, not Mandy).

They just have good chemistry, nothing more. The men on bridgerton are gay yet they have good chemistry with their co stars. The song and performance is amazing. Song takes me back.
The performance is not playback (we talking here about Limahl voice). It is very easy to see it if you play this same time original record on second player.

Well done. I don't know why they didn't give her at least microphone. But anyway, it is only one of 2 live recorded performances of this song for Limahl in 80s. So, worth definitely to see. 😉

Limahl's performance is live, only Mandy is lip-sync. It is a possibility the sound is a bit ahead a of video- the recording is 35 years old. All Champs Elysées performances were live, that includes Kajagoogoo "Too Shy" in 1983.

Sinceramente Limahl es un ser honesto en sus convicciones actualmente vive con su pareja sentimental también homosexual pero eso nada tiene que ver con su calidad de éxito y proyección en un tema de una cinta que dió la vuelta en todo el mundo lastima que la chica de color que lo acompañó (al principio) era solo de produccion pero su actuación sensual atractiva cautivó y llamó poderosamente la atención.

Limahl chante en live intégral (remarquable prestation d'ailleurs). C'est juste qu'il y a un décalage entre l'image et le son sur la vidéo du à l'ancienneté de la vidéo.
