    Absolutely fascinating and typically British!
    It seems odd but just after the war ended the UK, with German assistance, was probably a world leader in the assembly and firing of ballistic rockets but of course soon to be overtaken in the more important aspects of design and development by the US and Russia.

      I think the Yanks hoovered up the lion's share of the technologists & their kit. Not that it would have mattered in the long run

    Excellent descriptive documentary... It took a complete team of very educated and trained technocrats to just get one rocket launched not to mention all of the resources.

    Thanks to the German people and his ingenious minds for gifting us the way into Space

      No. You can't go into space with a rocket. the video explains that the thrust stops at 100.000 feet, and then its the momentum that takes it higher. . The reason why we can't go to the moon today is because we have never been.

    There's a great *original German* instructional documentary showing the process of getting the thing off a train, onto site & all the rest. In some ways not as detailed as this - can't recall if subtitles - but well worth a watch as super-authentic

    I am curious to know whether the hydrogen peroxide was combined with a stabiliser to inhibit decomposition during storage.
    What a pity that he didn't go into more detail.

    Facinating! Thank you! I wonder where they got the graphite for the steering vanes from? I thought the only place for large lumps of graphite like that was in the UK.

    We beat that 12mi altitude record again in 1968. 204,000 nautical miles.

    • @boptah7489
      @boptah7489 Před 4 lety

      No. the altitude record is the same today. Werner Von Braun discovered that a rocket cannot develop thrust above 100.000 ft. Any height attained above that is because of momentum. this is why they faked the moon landings. .
