    well done Matt great objective delivery, that boats "p" is getting very close to a flybridge stinkpot 16-18knts and in useable floor meterage too

    beautiful boat!! thx for the ride... my only suggestion would be some handrails on the coach roof, a blue water must.. also would be a perfect platform for full electric

    would love to know how you viewed this versus an ORC57 or 50 if price better reflects some comparison? LOVE your reviews and hold my breath that you'll have a marsaudon composites model on the channel soon too :D

    I like it very much. Especially the skipper's place. At the front, these nets are a waste of space. I would copy the front exit and mattresses from Bali. Only then would it be ideal for me.

    Every time I see a test of an Outremer I can't shake off the feeling it's got WAY too many ropes in and around the cockpit. They are everywhere. And they go everywhere. There is a configuration for this helm position and that, and you can control the sheets while hanging upside down from the stern, and you can raise the sails from under the water. But the end result is a spaghetti dish in the back. I seriously doubt it's a good thing for cruisers. And it looks like a tripping hazard. Why there are no rope boxes to put the tails in?

    Performance for light breeze sailing. Far better sailing than motoring.

    Very little detail on the hulls.Did you deliberately choose not to show port head(s)? Is this the first catamaran with nothing negative to say about at all? 😊

    No doubt a lovely boat but why did they put the cook top in that spot, it's in such a weird place, you'd have to reach into the corner to use it.

      It might looks odd at first, but appears it's the best place after you tested it. It would be dangerous next to the staircase, and you would lose the working area.
      Everybody who tested it acknowledged it's very practical there.

      You could tell this was an oh crap moment in the design room. We didn’t think this through. Look at Balance, Catana, etc, boats the same size with a clearly thought out kitchen.

    The question is really, why buy a 52 when the 45 is in fact 48 ... 4 feet more boat for a lot more money ?

  • @andrebauer576
    @andrebauer576 Před 9 měsíci +1

    The engine controls and navigation monitor should rotate with the wheel. You don't want to walk out into the weather to adjust the throttle for example. The seating outboard doesn't provide a backrest. And I'd really like to see an performance catamaran in serious seas. Probably better to experience it yourself. Overall I like the Windelo 52 a lot better because of the concept and the windows in the salon and the cabins. Compared with the windelo the windows of the outremer is absolutely non spectacular. On top the Windelo is way more eco-friendly produced if the claiming regarding the basalt proves. And it doesn't seem to be slower.

    • @LoanwordEggcorn
      @LoanwordEggcorn Před 8 měsíci

      The outboard seats have L-shaped backrests (to the aft and sides).
      The Windelo is a different concept, also interesting.

      Build spots are all sold out for the next four years so it’s not like they really need to pay for a review

    • @catamaransailing

    • @aksela6912
      @aksela6912 Před 11 měsíci

      @@catamaransailing I don't care how good your boat is, there's alway something you can mark it down on. This presentation is entirely positive. That means either they haven't looked very thoroughly, making it a bad test, or they chose not to say, for professional relations reasons, making it not a test at all.

    • @catamaransailing
      @catamaransailing Před 11 měsíci

      @@aksela6912 yeah, I get that. I am sure I could find a few issues with the boat, as nice as it is. That said, I don't believe the test was sponsored ie that Planet Sail was paid for this. Perhaps Matt's flights and accommodation were covered by Outremer but this is pretty normal for a boat test.

    • @aksela6912
      @aksela6912 Před 11 měsíci +2

      @@catamaransailing That might be, but it's normal on CZcams to disclose any such affiliations, even when no actual money changed hands. I don't have anything in principle against manufacturers inviting the press like this, I just want some transparency, so I can judge the 'test' properly.

    This Outremer 52 has a sleek line and does sail well but also for this price tag one would think that you are entitled to have a helm on each side..well no!! imagine getting out of a harbour or even a marina, full of mooring lines and boats getting in and out and quite close to each other, how precise would the tiller feel in your hand compare to a proper helm?? One more thing...all of the front deck is gone...you only have the dolphin nets..no relaxing on the front and the rear deck is not suited for this..then where?? the roof..yeah..until you get solar panels, then..the really annoying factor for me is the way how the winches have been layed out, as stated from the video, if you are manually steering from inside the cockpit because it pouring outside then you have no option than to go out and try to fit the sheets in a turning block and still you are quite stretched out and far from the helm, not mentionning if you are doing this at 2am solo because you are on your watch and the wind is turning then it's risky because on a windy night the boat's reaction will be fast and you can't be at 2 places at the same time...when i look at Sailing Zatara, an outremer as well, smaller but see how it is set up, you can trim and steer safe from inside, the helm is set in such a way that you can use it easily for both sides ans trim the sails all alone, you stay dry and safe, front deck, large living space at the rear, more cabins and sleeping space...so what happened to all this????

    • @deankruse2891
      @deankruse2891 Před 11 měsíci +3

      tiller is no less "precise" than a wheel.

    • @solaireastora5394
      @solaireastora5394 Před 10 měsíci +3

      You can relax on the front, sitting on nets is comfy, get a bean bag if it's that bad

    • @catamaransailing
      @catamaransailing Před 10 měsíci +2

      Tiller not as precise as a wheel??? Tell that to the TP52 fleet.
      Trampolines are used instead of bulky and heavy forward cockpit structures to keep weight out of the ends of the boat. They're not less comfortable and in many ways much nicer for relaxing on.
      If you're watch keeping from inside you simply run your lines to the lower trimming position before hand, you don't wait til it's 2am and you need to reef.
      Pretty sure Zatara is a big, heavy Privilege cat, not an Outremer.
