Don’t forget, one of the best drummers in the world, Jim Keltner !
Roy had one of the most beautiful voices to ever grace the Earth. RIP George and Tom .
Oh my goodness. Incredible voice.
Oh Roy
And his death devastated so many people in some ways it was like losing Elvis all over again. And for those that want to know why they seem to get lumped together they used to tour together Roy would open up for Elvis. And Elvis want said that Roy had the voice of an Angel... and Elvis would be correct.
R.I.P. GEORGE,, ROY & TOM..THANKS FOR ALL YOU GAVE US..GONE BUT DEFINITELY NOT FORGOTTEN. 🙏 ❤
“End of The Line” is a must hear if you’ve not heard it but everything by The Traveling Wiburys is great! How could that ensemble of talent make a bad song? Amazing on so many levels
Yeah. Their best song, in my opinion. A true masterpiece!
“End of the line” was their tribute to Roy Orbison after his death! Watch for the guitar in the rocking chair. Harry you have to hear it!!!!
Absolutely amazing track. Looking forward to that reaction. You will not regret it.
I still get teary-eyed listening to End of the Line because of the rocking chair and guitar, but they without a _shred of doubt_ made bad songs. Plural. Remember Cool Dry Place? I mean what the hell were they thinking LOL
Now you need to react to "End of the Line". Roy sings on the song, but the video was made after he passed away. Very touching.
Yeah the empty chair gets me every time 😢 RIP Roy, Tom and George 🙏♥️
So sad Roy was making a major comeback.
Ya he has reacted to it. Great suggestion!
They wrote and recorded 10 songs in 10 days, just friends jamming together in Dylans kitchen. There are videos on youtube on how the band was formed. George and Jeff cooked up the idea while having dinner, but there are clips from both explaining it all.
100% correct fellow Wilbury fan! Just a collection of fantastic musicians that love the craft. Honesty one of the most talented bands that ever existed. Just a bunch of buddies fooling around. Perfect.
@@johnkangas8916 it's just so sad that they're almost all gone. Long live Bob and Jeff.
As a kid I was ignorant and had no idea who Jeff was and why he was there with these guys that I idolized.
They wrote and recorded 10 songs in 10 days because that's all the time they had together because of their schedule. There is a documentary about the group
It was bob d. on harmonica. You must check out " End Of The Line ", my favorite wilbury tune. Roy died shortly after the song was recorded. The video of the song pays tribute to him.
Look at the hands holding the harmonica, red shirt, black jacket. Roy Orbison.
As Tom Petty said, " Roy is our ace in the hole". Incredible voice!!!
THE TRAVELLING WILBURYS were a true gift to all of us.
Just a nod to Bob Dylan who was friends with George and worked with him on the writing of a song from All Things Must Pass and George covered if not for You, a great Dylan song on this album also
The best band ever! Learn more about them. We'll worth it.
Harrison : “ Give us some lyrics, you famous lyricist ! “
Dylan: “ What’s the title ?”
Harrison: “Handle With Care” ( after seeing a nearby box label )
YES! I saw that when they were writing it!
I always like George's little sarcastic smile as he sings the line "Oh, the sweet smell of success"
since the song is kind of about all the hyping up and dissing down and general craziness projected at anyone who's a big name rock star/celebrity. But, of course, they're still just human underneath it all and would appreciate being handled with a bit more care...
The End of the Line is another reflective song, about dealing mentally with the inevitability of death.
I love how this band embraced ideas that come later in life, and made them rock!
Honestly, all of their Wilbury songs are great! Can't go wrong with any of them!
Oh I love a guy who appreciates the wonder of the talent in that room!!!!
Listen to End of the Line next, it's wonderful. Also - Jeff sang on quite a lot of their songs but really he is the production mastermind behind it all sounding so soothing and slick, it's the Jeff Lynne sound that he used on Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever, and many many other albums and songs
Jeff is my all time biggest crush! 😍
I also love Dylan's Scooter and the Monkey Man.
True. I would just add that George handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies. He'd been enormously underappreciated in the Beatles, so no wonder he wanted out!!! That was the only way he could finally start putting out some of his stockpile of incredible music!! "All Things Must Pass", "Beware of Darkness" & "Isn't it a Pity" are a few that really deserve to be checked out. Everybody in the Traveling Wilburies was incredible in their own right, but without George they wouldn't exist!!
@@raenellefisher8514 ... It's actually "Tweeter and the Monkey Man". A very bizarre, "Dylanesque" song.
A Rare Gathering Of Musical Legends.
Jeff Lynne produced and co-wrote albums for George Harrison, Tom Petty, and Roy Orbison around that time. (Roy died soon after this, just as his career was beginning to flourish again. His bad heart finally gave out at 52.)
You can't forget the drummer, Jim Keltner a great session drummer who played a lot on Beatles solo projects. Even Ringo's !
Dylan is a deep well you really must explore one of these days, Harri. Maybe start with some of his early songs in folk/protest style, and follow his progression from there chronologically. You will be blown away by his poetic imagery and emotional force. Dylan is one of the true greats of 20th century music. He was a huge influence on John Lennon and the Beatles in general, and through them, on practically everyone else.
Spectacular! Blessed to have grown up with these guys working separately. And when they got together...my heart soared.
This SuperMegaGroup is fantabulous, all their videos are marvelous not only for all the astonishing voices, but because it's evident they are having good fun making the videos as the very good friends they always were. I especially like from this one when their childhood photos are shown at the same time the guys are focused one by one, priceless!!!
It was Bob Dylan on harmonica. Super Group for real!! All of my favorites in one Band!!!!!!
The two Traveling Wilbury's albums (Volume 1 and Volume 3, yes 3) are loads of fun. Many of the songs coming from all these talents sitting around tossing out lines. One of them "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" is just Dylan and Petty having a go a every Springsteen song title, theme, setting that came to mind. All in good fun.
That's ''Tweeter and the Monkey Man''.
@@wonkothesane8691 Thanks. A typo on my part, now corrected.
More talent in this band than the latest top ten rock bands combined. Best male vocalist, Roy Orbison, best lyricist bob Dylan . . . it doesn't get better than this .
Great reaction Harri. Have you reached to Roy Orbison and K.D. Lang Crying? It is beautiful. This was beautiful song.
A beautiful rendition by two beautiful singers, absolutely...
George is just great isn’t he? Sets up a meet with mates to knock out some music and look what happens! Love George’s voice
I suspect, with Roy and George in the studio, the others were willing the cede the lead singing, happy to do a choral chorus. End of The Line next. ?? 🥰🥰🇨🇦
I’m just like you man. I can remember what I was doing on many occasions when a certain song played. Brings back many memories! The Traveling Wilburys are great. You will like!! Keep up the good work!
If you ever get a chance to see Jeff Lynn’s ELO you just may me fortunate enough to hear him play this song. He can sing the George and Roy part very well. Please do more of this fabulous group.
Tom Petty did "End of the Line" when I saw him in 2008. Loved it.
It is hard to believe 3 out of the 5 are gone. Such a great group.
This song makes me so emotional! I cried because I was said that some of these fantastic performers have passed away, and I cried because I loved seeing them alive and loving this song so much! Thank you for great memories🙏
They all played acoustic guitar, Dylan [Lucky Wilbury] sang harmonica, Harrison [Nelson Wilbury] played slide of course (and electric) and Lynne [Otis Wilbury] played electric guitar, bass and drums. Tom Petty was Charlie T. Wilbury Jr and Roy Orbison was Lefty Wilbury. The myth is they were brothers with 1 father and 5 different mothers.
Hahahaha 😅
Love the Wilburys. And in the same vein check out the Jeff Lynne produced George Harrison song "This is Love."
Harmonica?! That's the signature sound of George Harrison's slide-guitar style. Immediately recognizable to ...most of us of a certain age or musical exposure, I daresay. Drummer Jim Keltner is a longtime drummer to stars in his own right.✌😘🎶🎸🔥💎💎💎💎💎💎💞
Check out Roy's feature on the album, 'Not Alone', and the poignant video for 'End of the Line', the follow-up single, by which time Roy had already, tragically passed. George left us another 11-12 years later, Tom, just a few years ago.👋👋👋😥
The documentary Mr. Blue Sky is a grand history about Jeff Lynne's extraordinary career and explores the relationships the members of the Traveling Wilburys shared. FYI While not a member of the TW, Jim Keltner was the studio drummer on recordings and well worth checking out.
I swear every time I hear Roy Orbison's voice in any song I immediately become overcome with emotion and get goosebumps, great video!
Yes this is what Heaven looks like. Rest In Peace George, Roy, Tom.
I love George Harrison's lyrical guitar playing. Just like with the Beatles, his melodies are captivating and add so much to the song.
What a bizarre collection of talent. A priviledge to have had them come together when they did and share their music. Golden.
"Reputation's changeable, situation's tolerable, baby you're adorable" = best life ever. :-)
They did a couple of albums, different guys took the lead on different songs. All of them are good. They all linked up as friends of friends. Tom brought Bob along, George brought Jeff. They all enjoyed the vibe and the company. Think Jeff was left to do most of the sound production afterwards. So it's got a bit of an ELO feel.
*Harri* another excellent reaction.! Talk about a *SUPERGROUP* !!! May I suggest doing *End of the line* whenever you revisit them bro...David .....
Loved the Traveling Wilbury's! It was a fluke that they got together but they were all masters of music!
Best supergroup ever!
Harrison needed a b side . Jeff Lynn was producing Harrison and Roy he needed a studio so they used Dylan's studio in his Malibu home Harrison's guitar was at Petty house so they all ended up together. The realized the song was too good for a B side so they decided to do an album
You're right. George handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies, b/c he was enormously underappreciated in the Beatles. It's no wonder he wanted out!! Then he was finally able to release some of his stockpile of incredible music! So once he put out the phenomenal album "All Things Must Pass" he later handpicked friends where everybody was given the respect they deserved!
Harri, watch the video for the song END OF THE LINE . Roy sings on it but he died before the video was shot They just had his guitar in an empty rocking chair
They each sung the lyrics separate, each time it got around to Roy ( Big O) the " Lonly " part would land at him each time, they were laughing about it because, it freaked them out each time that lyric hit Roy!
Harri, I'm so glad you reacted to the music video! I'm sure you can see now why I stressed the importance of that. Same thing goes for the next song from them, called, "End of the Line"...it is another visual treat, so the official music video is a must. The band was started when George Harrison hired Jeff Lynne to produce his album, Cloud 9. The two legends immediately became best friends, and during production George suggested to Jeff that they should start their own band. They discussed who they wanted in the band, what the band's name would be, and soon thereafter the supergroup was formed. Jeff does sing on, "Handle With Care", but not solo. He pairs with Roy at one point, and with two others at other points. For this first song by the band, Jeff really had his Producer hat on, and I think in deference to his heroes (Orbison, Harrison, and Dylan) and peers (Petty), he stayed back a bit and let them shine. However, Jeff does sing much more prominently in the next Wilburys' song you'll be doing, "End of the Line", which we're all looking forward to seeing you react to. :)
this is the biggest and best super group ever... find and read the story about this group it's almost as much fun as the group was brilliant!
So glad George got these beasts together. The production, vocals, music, and writing is second to none. It's sad to think we only have two of them left. Such raw beautiful music.
Three, don't forget Jim Keltner the drummer.
Nothing but love for this amazing group of men...♡
Harri, can you imagine being George's son and see these guys in your kitchen just jammin.wonderful. they have four albums each a delight.
I've loved this song for a long time, nowadays I still have it in my playlist, fantastic group of people! Thanks for the react
Too bad we lost so many of them 😭
Such a fantastic group that wasn't around very long
Read up on the making of this group. Just a bunch of extremely talented famous men having fun.
A lot of talent, no egos is why they were such a success.
Only true supergroup. They didn’t do it for money they did for fun. Suggest “End of the line” you will here Jeff. 🌟
Hey there! So you finally hit one of the songs I suggested ages ago. George handpicked friends to become the Traveling Wilburies after escaping the Beatles where he was enormously underappreciated. Sadly we've lost Tom, Roy & of course George.
I'm going to try yet again w/my major suggestions that I've mentioned many times. There are 2 Kennedy Center Honors performances that are just BEYOND. First, Heart performing "Stairway to Heaven" for Led Zeppelin, & Adam Lambert performing "Believe" for Cher. Both of these are jaw dropping. If you can get Robert Plant to tear up & apparently say this is the only cover of their song he likes, & then seeing the joy he & Jimmy Page had when they see John Bonham's son Jason playing the drums, it is quite an accomplishment!!
And again....MONTHS AGO...you said on another video that you were going to check out "All Things Must Pass" by George Harrison. I was so excited, but it didn't happen. I also suggest "Beware of Darkness" & "Isn't it a Pity."
I guess the bottom line is that I'd love it if you'd reply to me and tell me straight up if suggestions are just ignored unless I pay you. That would be much appreciated!!
My granddaughter learned how to tap her feet when she was just year or two old to this song. She still loves them and can name them all at 5 years old.
I love this guy, he seems like a proper sweet person.
awesome group of icons!
In addition to their three hits "Handle With Care," "End of the Line," and "Wilbury Twist," the group also did a fantastic cover of Del Shannon's "Runaway."
Bonnie Raitt also does an awesome cover of “Runaway” ☮️♥️🤘🏼
The whole original Wilburys album was fantastic. Tweeter and The Monkey Man was classic Bob Dylan!
After Roy Orbison died, Del Shannon was asked to join the group, & recorded Runaway with them. Unfortunately, he passed right after that, so it's the only recording he made with them.
Great song great band. All great artist, s
It is Tom Petty playing the harmonica on Handle With Care.
Just hope this band will be in heaven
Bob Dylan usually has Harmonica hanging around his neck . All my mom's family played Harmonica. Some played juice harp and a mandolin. They learned from their mother. Great reaction.
You made my day! These guys all together is dynamite. When I worked, my favorite wake-up song was Tom Petty's "Runnin' Down A Dream." If I heard that on the way to work, I knew it was going to be a great day! After 24 long years of being a co-owner, Vice President, my dad died, my mom died, and my older brother embezzled me out of quite a lot of money. I'm the last one of the family alive. Thanks from the bottom of my heart. Life has not been easy, but music has always been there to soothe me. Going to join as soon as I can ~Your friend, Gin
Love this song and The Traveling Wilburys! I smile every time I hear it! Fantastic song and reaction!
Love this group. Many iconic members. Just can't be beat.
I love the Wilburys, what's not to love, a group with some of the best musicians ever together.
Try "End Of The Line" . Jeff has an awsome singing part there. Sure you ll love it !
THERE WERE SOME GOOD VIDEO CLPS OF THESE GUYS HARRI, THEY'RE PRETTY FUNNY TOO :) ( LAST NIGHT ) IS ONE OF THEM, FUNNYYYY :) ( WILBURY TWIST ) IS ANOTHER. ANYWAY YEAH HARRI, INCREDIBLE TO HAVE GOTTEN THESE 5 TOGETHER, BUNCHA MASTER MUSICIANS ALLLLLL TOGETHER..
Definitely Bob on harmonica. They were a dream group. "Only the Lonely" was my favorite of my big brother's records when I was around 10. Like your reaction!!
“End of the Line” is a must! The video was shot after Roy’s death but portrays a beautiful tribute to Roy.
No harmonica. That's George Harrison playing slide guitar, something he perfected! Great reaction!
Orbison Toured with The Beatles in 1963 and Jeff Lynne helped produce the last 3 Beatles songs, taken from left over John Lennon Demos from the 70s and with added material from the surivivors in the 90s(Now and then just dropped, Jeff Lynne wasn't involved in the latest work on it, but was involved in it when George Harrison was was still alive).
And Jim Keltner on drums
It did show Dylan playing harmonica near the end.
I have always loved Fast Car by Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs did a version. They sang it together at the2024 Grammys and it is amazing!
I love you dude such great vibes ❤️ keep up the good work
Yes to those that are speculating George started the fruit because he had a lot of love to give and a lot to give back to the world and he was in a good place. So it was a good time to start a new group and I guess the rest followed Roy and the others just decided they would want to be a part of this group they work so well together it was amazing I remember this.
A real, true supergroup
Harri, really love your show.. you and a Rob Squad are the best music commentators. They others all interrupt the music way too often, and some are just silly . Good job!
Jim Keltner is the session drummer.
Lovely to see you got around to The Travelling Wilburys Harri, How they came together was wonderful, talk about catching the flow. Jeff does sing in this, though Roy, George and Tom are more prominent with this song. Good reason for you checking the others.
Fun fact, they produced two albums, titled Volume 1 and 3. George wanted to mess with people, make them look for a missing volume 2.
So I may be old and cheesy AF, but this group is one of my favorites… the best of the best coming together.
Some of these greats have past thank god we have their image still.
The Travelling Wilburys, great company indeed. Super Group.
Listen to this band Dirty Mac - lead guitarist Eric Clapton, rhythm guitar and vocals John Lennon, bass Keith Richards, drummer Mitch Mitchell (from the Jimi Hendrix Experience). The group was formed for the The Rolling Stones TV show "Rock and Roll Circus" in 1968. It has never been shown on television. Dirty Mac played the song "Yer Blues" (freshly released in those days on the Beatles double white album). Breathtaking.
They all respected each other so much..
When this was played on a popular radio station, I would see people in their cars singing along with it. Such a snappy tune that put a smile on your face. Glad you reacted to this Harri. 👍👍
So glad you liked this. You said everything I might have yelled at another reactor. You know your stuff my friend. Love your channel!
Harri, at this time Jeff Lynne was working as a producer. He had already produced George's Cloud 9, also Tom Petty (he co-wrote "Free falling, Petty's greatest success), and was producing Roy Orbison. George suggested they could form a band, and everybody jumped in. Bod Dylan had a studio at home... The rest is history. Your other reaction from one of their songs, "End of the line" was done after Roy passed away. You'll see they left his guitar.on a rockin' chair...
Keep going! RIP George, Roy and Tom.
If you like Roy Orbison's voice you need to react to The Traveling Wilbury's song called "Not Alone Anymore" with Roy on lead vocals. It's pretty stunning! Another great one from the Wilbury's is "Wilbury Twist". The official video has John Candy and Eric Idle in it.
Love the Traveling Wilburys!
LOVE LOVE their drummer too
