On November 5, 2023 I will be running the New York City Marathon with my friend Justin Grunewald in honor of Gabrielle "Gabe" Grunewald, an American middle-distance professional runner.
After living for 10 years with adenoid cystic carcinoma, Gabriele passed away on June 11, 2019, at her home in Minneapolis surrounded by family and friends. Her story and legacy continue with the Brave Like Gabe Foundation that inspires others to share their own struggles while also helping to find better, more effective treatments for rare cancers.

What a wonderful organization to support! I fell into running mid-2018 and two things from the community are absolutely seared into my mind from that first year: discovering your CZcams channel and Gabe's story via The Morning Shakeout podcast. When she passed, I can honestly say I'd never before wept like I did for a complete stranger, and haven't since. Her light continues to shine on in all those she touched. #runningonhope

We all need to be praying for protection to all the runners and spectators during this tumultuous time in the world. We don't need another Boston. If you are there and you see something, for God's sake, say something.
