heyy!! sorry for so many questions, im just really curious before making it, how long should we have the mask on to avoid mold forming?
(i also plan halloween VERY early and would it be ok to wear it for an hour and just take breaks of wearing it?)

That is the single-handed BEST CARDBOARD FURSUIT I HAVE EVER SEEN! And that's coming from the so-called cardboard master
I feel cardboard isn’t the safest for me since I wear my heads a lot. I’m going to try this with a cardboard-like foam!

it keeps sweat from soaking into the cardboard, because sweat going into cardboard may cause mold
@@PixelatedDoritoand tbh some typs of paper cant mold when those types get wet you just have to let them dry but after they’ll be a lil bit skrunkly (only if its water tho i think)

I made two of these myself! (1st being prototype)
Heres some things I used/tips!
Paper matche🔫😔
It was extremely hard to paint over, considering the white paint was not enough to cover it in 3 layers. I used toilet role and kitchen towels, which was great for a plain white base, then painted over and it was great!
I recommend putting elastic around the back to secure it onto your head. I found when i tilted my head down it fell off alot, so this is much easier!

Do you think that paper could be used to fill out the spaces instead of cardboard?
I'm more used to making things with paper, but I'm not sure if using paper would somehow mess with how sturdy the mask/fursuit head is or not

I think you could if you're low on cardboard! Just make sure to add 3 layers of paper mache in the next part of the tutorial (when it comes out) instead of 2 lol

Also yall another way to prevent mold in paper fur suits is putting a mask on (covid masks etc) so the moisture cant get through!

I Now plan to make this for one of my mains Ollie (he’s a goldador) since I don’t have the budget to make an actual fursuit or buy another Dino mask. Im not going to wear it often ofc, only to make short vids or just leave him on display

Also when u cut out the eyes does ur head need to be in the very middle of the base or the top

If you have foam, I'd recommend doing using a bucket head base, which there are a lot of tutorials for on youtube :) I think it will probably be janky if you do this mask with foam lol

Do you have any tips on materials other then cardboard? Im going to be using for cosplays alot but over time the cardboard will develop mold inside.
If you can find a bunch of thin, sturdy plastic, I think that will work wonders! Maybe the plastic folders like from office depot will work? Just make sure there aren't any sharp corners! Also, you'll probably have to sand the folders so paint will stick!

EVA foam can operate similarly to Cardboard and be almost as cheap. Hobby lobby and I believe Joanns has EVA rolls

I would recommend gluing multiple sheets of paper together so it's a little sturdier :))

Probably not. You can try, but use a very strong tape (so not Scotch tape).

Tbh I have no idea. You could get away with duct tape, but a glue gun is highly recommended :)

@ShylaDragons12_. in theory you could (I've never used that brand tho so I'm not sure), but make sure you have something to hold the peices together (like plastic sewing clips) and a hairdryer or something to make the glue dry fast (unless you have the patience of a saint, which def don't 😅😅).
If you can't buy a glue gun, maybe someone you know has one you can borrow? I would check that before trying to use liquid glue lolll
what does “long periods of time” mean? like “don’t wear it for long periods of time”, how long is a long period? days? hours? over 5 minutes? i really REALLY wanna wear something like this to a con😞
Do not wear over 24 hours :3 mold can grow Beacuse of sweat, please take breaks and take off the head once a time

WOOP MAJOR NO! This is something that is HIGHLY recommended NOT to do. Do NOT make your fursuits out of paper/cardboard AT ALL due to sweat and risk of mold. This is a BAD idea. Cute for a simple thing, BUT NOT AS CHEAP SOLUTION TO FURSUIT MAKING.
This is ONLY great for DISPLAY ONLY. Not to wear!!!!!! This has been said MULTIPLE TIMES with in the community FOR SAFETY REASONS!

I could just cover the card board in tape right? Would that help it not mold if I use ducktape
